< Psalms 137 >
1 When we sat down by the rivers of Babylon we wept as we remembered Zion.
Ní ẹ̀bá odò Babeli, níbẹ̀ ni àwa gbé jókòó àwa sì sọkún nígbà tí àwa rántí Sioni.
2 We hung up our harps on the willow trees.
Àwa fi dùùrù wa kọ́ sí orí igi wílò, tí ó wà láàrín rẹ̀.
3 For those who had taken us captive asked us for a song—our tormentors wanted us to sing a happy song from Jerusalem.
Nítorí pé níbẹ̀ ni àwọn tí ó kó wa ní ìgbèkùn béèrè orin lọ́wọ́ wa, àti àwọn tí ó ni wá lára béèrè ìdárayá; wọn wí pé, “Ẹ kọ orin Sioni kan fún wa!”
4 But how could we sing a song dedicated to the Lord in a pagan land?
Àwa ó ti ṣe kọ orin Olúwa ní ilẹ̀ àjèjì
5 If I forget Jerusalem, may my right hand forget how to play;
Jerusalẹmu, bí èmi bá gbàgbé rẹ jẹ́ kí ọwọ́ ọ̀tún mi kí ó gbàgbé ìlò rẹ̀.
6 May my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth if I don't remember you—if I don't consider Jerusalem my greatest joy.
Bí èmi kò bá rántí rẹ, jẹ́ kí ahọ́n mi kí ó lẹ̀ mọ́ èrìgì mi; bí èmi kò bá fi Jerusalẹmu ṣáájú olórí ayọ̀ mi gbogbo.
7 Lord, please remember what the people of Edom did on the day Jerusalem fell, the ones who said “Tear it down! Destroy it down to its foundations!”
Olúwa rántí ọjọ́ Jerusalẹmu, lára àwọn ọmọ Edomu, àwọn ẹni tí ń wí pé, “Wó o palẹ̀, wó o palẹ̀ dé ìpìlẹ̀ rẹ̀!”
8 Daughter of Babylon, you will be destroyed! Happy is the one who pays you back, who does to you what you did to us!
Ìwọ, ọmọbìnrin Babeli, ẹni tí a ó parun; ìbùkún ni fún ẹni tí ó san án fún ọ bí ìwọ ti rò sí wa.
9 Happy is the one who grabs your children and smashes them against the rocks!
Ìbùkún ni fún ẹni tí ó mú ọmọ wẹ́wẹ́ rẹ tí ó sì fi wọ́n ṣán òkúta.
