< Psalms 132 >
1 A song for pilgrims going up to Jerusalem. Lord, remember David, and all that he went through.
Canticum graduum. Memento Domine David, et omnis mansuetudinis eius:
2 He made a promise to the Lord, a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:
Sicut iuravit Domino, votum vovit Deo Iacob:
3 “I will not go home, I will not go to bed,
Si introiero in tabernaculum domus meae, si ascendero in lectum strati mei:
4 I will not go to sleep, I will not take a nap,
Si dedero somnum oculis meis, et palpebris meis dormitationem:
5 until I find a place where the Lord can live, a home for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
Et requiem temporibus meis: donec inveniam locum Domino, tabernaculum Deo Iacob.
6 In Ephrathah we received information about the Ark of Agreement, and we found it in fields near Jaar.
Ecce audivimus eam in Ephrata: invenimus eam in campis silvae.
7 Let's go to the place where the Lord lives and bow down at his feet in worship.
Introibimus in tabernaculum eius: adorabimus in loco, ubi steterunt pedes eius.
8 Come, Lord, and enter your home, together with your Ark of your power.
Surge Domine in requiem tuam, tu et arca sanctificationis tuae.
9 May your priests wear goodness like clothing; may your faithful people shout for joy.
Sacerdotes tui induantur iustitiam: et sancti tui exultent.
10 For the sake of your servant David, don't reject the king you have chosen.
Propter David servum tuum, non avertas faciem Christi tui.
11 The Lord made a solemn promise to David, one he will never cancel—“I will put one of your descendants on your throne.
Iuravit Dominus David veritatem, et non frustrabitur eum: de fructu ventris tui ponam super sedem tuam.
12 If your sons keep to my agreement and my laws that I will teach them, then their sons will always occupy your throne.”
Si custodierint filii tui testamentum meum, et testimonia mea haec, quae docebo eos: Et filii eorum usque in saeculum, sedebunt super sedem tuam.
13 For the Lord has chosen Zion, wanting to make his home there, saying:
Quoniam elegit Dominus Sion: elegit eam in habitationem sibi.
14 “This will always be my home; this is where I want to live.
Haec requies mea in saeculum saeculi: hic habitabo quoniam elegi eam.
15 I will provide the people of the city with all they need; I will feed the poor.
Viduam eius benedicens benedicam: pauperes eius saturabo panibus.
16 I will clothe its priests with salvation; and its faithful people will shout for joy.
Sacerdotes eius induam salutari: et sancti eius exultatione exultabunt.
17 I will make the line of David even more powerful. I have prepared a lamp for my chosen king.
Illuc producam cornu David, paravi lucernam Christo meo.
18 I will humiliate his enemies, but the crown he wears will shine brightly.”
Inimicos eius induam confusione: super ipsum autem efflorebit sanctificatio mea.
