< Psalms 132 >

1 A song for pilgrims going up to Jerusalem. Lord, remember David, and all that he went through.
Adonai, remember David [Beloved] and all his affliction,
2 He made a promise to the Lord, a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:
how he swore to Adonai, and vowed to the 'Avir Ya'akov [Mighty One of Supplanter]:
3 “I will not go home, I will not go to bed,
“Surely I will not come into the structure of my house, nor go up into my bed;
4 I will not go to sleep, I will not take a nap,
I will not give sleep to my eyes, or slumber to my eyelids;
5 until I find a place where the Lord can live, a home for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
until I find out a place for Adonai, a dwelling for the 'Avir Ya'akov [Mighty One of Supplanter].”
6 In Ephrathah we received information about the Ark of Agreement, and we found it in fields near Jaar.
Behold, we sh'ma ·heard obeyed· of it in Ephrathah. We found it in the field of Jaar:
7 Let's go to the place where the Lord lives and bow down at his feet in worship.
“We will go into his dwelling place. We will hawa ·bow low, prostrate· to worship at his footstool.
8 Come, Lord, and enter your home, together with your Ark of your power.
Arise, Adonai, into your resting place; you, and the ark of your strength.
9 May your priests wear goodness like clothing; may your faithful people shout for joy.
Let your priest be clothed with righteousness. Let your saints shout for joy!”
10 For the sake of your servant David, don't reject the king you have chosen.
For your servant David [Beloved]’s sake, don’t turn away the face of your anointed one.
11 The Lord made a solemn promise to David, one he will never cancel—“I will put one of your descendants on your throne.
Adonai has sworn to David [Beloved] in truth. He will not turn from it: “I will set the fruit of your body on your throne.
12 If your sons keep to my agreement and my laws that I will teach them, then their sons will always occupy your throne.”
If your children will keep my covenant ·binding contract between two or more parties·, my testimony that I will teach them, their children also will sit on your throne forever more.”
13 For the Lord has chosen Zion, wanting to make his home there, saying:
For Adonai has chosen Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking]. He has desired it for his habitation.
14 “This will always be my home; this is where I want to live.
“This is my resting place forever. Here I will live, for I have desired it.
15 I will provide the people of the city with all they need; I will feed the poor.
I will abundantly bless her provision. I will satisfy her poor with bread.
16 I will clothe its priests with salvation; and its faithful people will shout for joy.
Her priests I will also clothe with yesha' ·salvation·. Her saints will shout aloud for joy.
17 I will make the line of David even more powerful. I have prepared a lamp for my chosen king.
There I will make the horn of David [Beloved] to bud. I have ordained a lamp for my anointed.
18 I will humiliate his enemies, but the crown he wears will shine brightly.”
I will clothe his enemies with shame, but on himself, his crown will be resplendent.”
