Psalms 131

1 A song for pilgrims going up to Jerusalem. A psalm of David. Lord, I'm not proud or arrogant. I don't worry about things that are beyond me, matters that are far beyond my experience.

Ein Stufenlied von David. / Jahwe, mein Herz ist nicht hochmütig, / Und meine Augen erheben sich nicht stolz. / Auch geh ich nicht um mit Dingen, / Die zu groß und schwer für mich sind.

2 On the contrary, I have chosen to be calm and quiet, like a weaned child with its mother. I am like a weaned child with its mother.

Ich habe vielmehr meine Seele gestillt und beruhigt. / Wie ein entwöhntes Kind an der Brust seiner Mutter liegt, / So ruht meine Seele entwöhnt in mir.

Israel, harre auf Jahwe / Von nun an bis in Ewigkeit!
