< Psalms 124 >
1 A song for pilgrims going up to Jerusalem. A psalm of David. If the Lord hadn't been for us, what would have happened? Let everyone in Israel say:
Rwiyo rworwendo rwaDhavhidhi. Israeri ngaati dai Jehovha akanga asiri kurutivi kwedu,
2 If the Lord hadn't been for us, what would have happened when people came and attacked us?
dai Jehovha akanga asiri kurutivi kwedu patakarwiswa navanhu,
3 They would have swallowed us alive when their anger raged against us.
apo kutsamwa kwavo kwakatimukira, vangadai vakatimedza tiri vapenyu;
4 Like a flood they would have swept over us; like a rushing torrent they would have submerged us.
mafashamu angadai akatifukidza, mvura zhinji ingadai yakatikukura,
5 They would have rushed over us like raging waters, drowning us.
mvura zhinji ine hasha ingadai yakatirasira kure.
6 Praise the Lord, who didn't hand us over to them as prey to be ripped apart by their teeth.
Jehovha ngaarumbidzwe, asina kutendera kuti tibvamburwe nameno avo.
7 We escaped from them like a bird flying out of a hunter's trap. The trap was broken and we flew away!
Tapunyuka seshiri yabva parugombe rwomuteyi; rugombe rwadamburwa uye tapunyuka.
8 Our help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
Kubatsirwa kwedu kuri muzita raJehovha, Muiti wedenga nenyika.
