Psalms 111

1 Praise the Lord! I will thank the Lord with all my heart in the congregation of the faithful.

Hallelúja! Ég þakka Guði máttarverk hans, já, í áheyrn og augsýn allrar þjóðarinnar.

2 All the wonderful things the Lord has done are studied by everyone who loves them.

Allir sem vilja, íhugi þetta ásamt mér.

3 His majesty and honor are revealed by what he does; his goodness lasts forever.

Því að máttarverkin lýsa mikilleika hans, hátign og eilífum kærleika.

4 He wants the wonderful things he has done to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and kind.

Hver getur gleymt dásemdarverkum hans, miskunn hans?

5 He feeds those who respect him; he always remembers the agreement he made.

Hann annast þarfir þeirra sem honum treysta og gleymir ekki loforðum sínum.

6 He demonstrated to his people the powerful things he could do by giving them the lands of other nations.

Hann sýndi mátt sinn er hann gaf þjóð sinni landið Ísrael – land sem margar þjóðir byggðu.

7 Everything he does can be depended on, and is right; all his commandments are trustworthy.

Allt gerir hann af trúfesti og réttlæti og öll fyrirmæli hans eru áreiðanleg og góð,

8 They remain rock-solid forever. He was true and right in saying what should be done.

gefin í kærleika og af réttvísi – þau munu standa að eilífu.

9 He delivered his people. He commanded that his agreement would continue forever. How holy and awesome is his reputation!

Hann hefur frelsað þjóð sína og gert við hana eilífan sáttmála. Heilagt og óttalegt er nafn Drottins.

10 The beginning of wisdom is honoring the Lord. Those who follow what he says do well. He is to be praised forever!

Hvernig öðlast menn visku? Með því fyrst að óttast og heiðra Guð og síðan með því að halda lög hans. Lofað sé nafn hans að eilífu.
