< Psalms 110 >

1 A psalm of David. The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for you.”
Of David, a psalm. This said the Lord concerning my lord, ‘Sit at my right hand, till I set your foot on the neck of your foes.’
2 The Lord will expand your royal power from Zion; you will rule over your enemies.
On Zion the Lord is wielding your sceptre of might, and charges you to rule over the foes that surround you.
3 Your people willingly follow you on the day when your power is revealed on the holy mountains, renewed in strength every morning like dew at dawn.
The day that you march to battle your people will follow you gladly young warriors in holy array, like dew-drops, born of the morning.
4 The Lord has made a vow he will not break: “You are a priest forever, following the order of Melchizedek.”
The Lord has sworn and will not repent, ‘As for you, you are priest for ever as Melchizedek was.’
5 The Lord stands right beside you to support you; he will strike down kings in his anger.
By your side will the Lord shatter kings on the day of his wrath.
6 He will execute judgment on the nations, filling their lands with corpses. He will strike down those who rule all over the earth.
He will execute judgment filling the valleys with dead, the broad fields with shattered heads.
7 He will drink from streams beside the path. Therefore he will be victorious.
He will drink of the brook by the way, and march onward with uplifted head.
