< Psalms 103 >
1 A psalm of David. Let every part of me praise the Lord; let my whole being praise his holy character.
“Of David.” Bless, O my soul, the Lord, and all that is within me, his holy name.
2 Let every part of me praise the Lord; don't let me forget the wonderful things he's done for me.
Bless, O my soul, the Lord, and forget not all his benefits:
3 He forgives my sins, and he heals all my diseases.
Who forgiveth all thy iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
4 He saves me from death; he honors me with trustworthy love and mercy.
Who redeemeth from the pit thy life; who crowneth thee with kindness and mercies;
5 He fills my life with all that's good; he makes me young again, strong as an eagle.
Who satisfieth with happiness thy spirit, so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's [plumage].
6 The Lord does what is right, and vindicates those who are exploited.
The Lord executeth righteousness, and justice for all that are oppressed.
7 He explained his ways to Moses: he told the people of Israel what he was going to do.
He made known his ways unto Moses, unto the children of Israel his acts.
8 The Lord is kind and gracious, not quick-tempered, and full of trustworthy love.
Merciful and gracious is the Lord, long-suffering and abundant in kindness.
9 He doesn't keep on accusing us; he doesn't stay angry with us forever.
Not for all eternity will he contend; nor will he for ever retain his anger.
10 He does not punish us for our sins as he ought to; he does not pay us back for our wrongdoing as we deserve.
Not in accordance with our sins hath he dealt with us; nor according to our iniquities hath he requited us.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth is the extent of his trustworthy love to those who honor him.
For as high as heaven is above the earth, so mighty is his kindness toward those that fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west is how far the Lord has taken our sins away from us.
As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed from us our transgressions.
13 Like a loving father, the Lord is kind and compassionate to those who follow him.
As a father hath mercy on his children, so hath the Lord mercy on those that fear him.
14 For he knows how we are made; he remembers we are only dust.
For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.
15 Human lifetimes are like grass: we blossom like flowers in a field,
As for man, like the grass are his days: as the blossom of the field, so doth he bloom.
16 but then the wind blows and we are gone, disappearing without a trace.
When a wind but passeth over it, it is gone, and its place will recognize it no more.
17 But the Lord's trustworthy love lasts for all eternity to those who accept him; his goodness to all generations,
But the kindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting over those that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children,
18 to those who keep his agreement and who remember to follow his commandments.
To such as keep his covenant, and to those who remember his precepts to execute them.
19 The Lord has set up his throne in the heavens, and he rules over all.
The Lord hath established in the heavens his throne; and his kingdom ruleth over all.
20 Praise the Lord, you angels, you powerful ones who do what he says, listening to what he tells you!
Bless the Lord, ye his angels, mighty in strength, that execute his word, hearkening unto the voice of his word.
21 Praise the Lord, you heavenly armies who serve him and carry out his will!
Bless ye the Lord, all his hosts, ye his ministers, that execute his will.
22 Praise the Lord, everything in his creation, everyone under his rule, and let every part of me praise the Lord!
Bless the Lord, all his works, in all the places of his dominion; bless, O my soul, the Lord.
