< Proverbs 9 >

1 Wisdom has built her house; she has prepared its seven pillars.
Ọgbọ́n ti kọ́ ilé rẹ̀, ó ti gbẹ́ òpó o rẹ̀ méjèèjì,
2 She has slaughtered her animals for meat; she has mixed her wine; and she has set her table.
ó ti fi ilé pọn tí, ó ti fọ̀nà rokà. Ó sì ti ṣètò o tábìlì oúnjẹ rẹ̀
3 She has sent out her servant girls with invitations. She calls out from the highest places of the town,
ó ti rán àwọn ìránṣẹ́bìnrin rẹ̀ jáde, ó sì ń pè, láti ibi tí ó ga jù láàrín ìlú.
4 “Everybody who needs to learn, come and see me!” To people who don't have any sense she says,
“Jẹ́ kí gbogbo àwọn aláìgbọ́n wọ ibí wá!” Ó ń wí fún àwọn tí kò lọ́gbọ́n pé,
5 “Come, eat my food, and drink the wine I have mixed.
“Wá, ẹ wá jẹ́ oúnjẹ mi sì mu wáìnì tí mo ti pò.
6 Leave your foolish ways and you will live; follow the path that makes sense.”
Fi ìwà àìmọ̀kan rẹ sílẹ̀ ìwọ yóò sì yè; rìn ní ọ̀nà òye.
7 If you correct a mocker all you get are insults; if you argue with the wicked all you get is abuse.
“Ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá bá ẹlẹ́gàn wí, kọ lẹ́tà sí àbùkù ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá bá ẹni búburú wí kọ lẹ́tà sí èébú.
8 So don't argue with mockers or they'll only hate you; argue with the wise and they'll love you.
Má ṣe bá ẹlẹ́gàn wí, àìṣe bẹ́ẹ̀ yóò kórìíra rẹ. Bá ọlọ́gbọ́n wí yóò sì fẹ́ràn rẹ;
9 Educate the wise and they'll become even wiser; teach those who live right and they will increase their learning.
kọ́ ọlọ́gbọ́n ènìyàn lẹ́kọ̀ọ́, yóò sì gbọ́n sí i kọ́ olódodo ènìyàn lẹ́kọ̀ọ́, yóò sì fi kún ìmọ̀ rẹ̀.
10 Honoring the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; knowledge of the Holy One brings insight.
“Ìbẹ̀rù Olúwa ni ìbẹ̀rẹ̀ ọgbọ́n, ìmọ̀ nípa Ẹni Mímọ́ ni òye.
11 Through wisdom you'll have many more days, increasing the years of your life.
Nítorí nípasẹ̀ mi ọjọ́ rẹ yóò gùn ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ọdún yóò sì kún ọjọ́ ayé rẹ.
12 If you are wise, you are the one to profit from it; if you scoff, you alone will have to suffer the consequences.
Bí ìwọ bá gbọ́n, ọgbọ́n rẹ yóò fún ọ ní èrè: bí ìwọ bá jẹ́ ẹlẹ́gàn, ìwọ nìkan ni yóò jìyà.”
13 Stupidity is like a loud, ignorant woman who doesn't know anything.
Òmùgọ̀ obìnrin jẹ́ aláriwo; ó jẹ́ aláìlẹ́kọ̀ọ́ àti aláìní ìmọ̀.
14 She sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the town,
Ó jókòó ní ẹnu-ọ̀nà ilé rẹ̀ lórí ìjókòó níbi tí ó ga jù láàrín ìlú,
15 calling out to those passing by, going about their business,
ó ń pe àwọn tí ó ń kọjá lọ, tí wọn ń lọ tààrà ní ọ̀nà wọn.
16 “Everybody who needs to learn, come and see me!” To people who don't have any sense she says,
“Jẹ́ kí gbogbo ẹni tí ó jẹ́ aláìlóye súnmọ́ bí!” Ni ó wí fún ẹni tí òye kù díẹ̀ ká à tó fún.
17 “Stolen water is sweet, and food eaten in secret tastes good!”
“Omi tí a jí mu dùn oúnjẹ tí a jẹ ní ìkọ̀kọ̀ a máa ládùn!”
18 But they don't know that the dead are there, that those she's invited are in the depths of the grave. (Sheol h7585)
Ṣùgbọ́n wọn ò funra pé àwọn òkú wà níbẹ̀, pé àwọn àlejò rẹ̀ wà ní ìsàlẹ̀ ilẹ̀ isà òkú. (Sheol h7585)
