Proverbs 9
1 Wisdom has built her house; she has prepared its seven pillars.
Înțelepciunea și-a zidit casa, și-a dăltuit cele șapte coloane;
2 She has slaughtered her animals for meat; she has mixed her wine; and she has set her table.
Și-a înjunghiat animalele, și-a amestecat vinul, și-a pregătit și masa.
3 She has sent out her servant girls with invitations. She calls out from the highest places of the town,
Și-a trimis înainte servitoarele; ea strigă în locurile cele mai înalte ale cetății:
4 “Everybody who needs to learn, come and see me!” To people who don't have any sense she says,
Oricine este simplu, să se abată aici; și celui ce îi lipsește înțelegere îi spune:
5 “Come, eat my food, and drink the wine I have mixed.
Vino, mănâncă din pâinea mea și bea din vinul pe care l-am amestecat.
6 Leave your foolish ways and you will live; follow the path that makes sense.”
Părăsește pe nebuni și vei trăi; și mergi pe calea înțelegerii.
7 If you correct a mocker all you get are insults; if you argue with the wicked all you get is abuse.
Cel ce mustră un batjocoritor își aduce rușine; și cel ce ceartă un om stricat își aduce lui însuși o pată.
8 So don't argue with mockers or they'll only hate you; argue with the wise and they'll love you.
Nu mustra un batjocoritor, ca nu cumva să te urască; ceartă un om înțelept și te va iubi.
9 Educate the wise and they'll become even wiser; teach those who live right and they will increase their learning.
Dă învățătură unui om înțelept și el va fi tot mai înțelept; învață un om drept și el va crește în învățătură.
10 Honoring the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; knowledge of the Holy One brings insight.
Teama de DOMNUL este începutul înțelepciunii, și cunoașterea celui sfânt este înțelegere.
11 Through wisdom you'll have many more days, increasing the years of your life.
Fiindcă prin mine zilele tale vor fi înmulțite și ani vor fi adăugați vieții tale.
12 If you are wise, you are the one to profit from it; if you scoff, you alone will have to suffer the consequences.
Dacă ești înțelept, pentru tine însuți ești înțelept; dar dacă batjocorești, singur o vei purta.
13 Stupidity is like a loud, ignorant woman who doesn't know anything.
O femeie nechibzuită este gălăgioasă; ea este proastă și nu știe nimic.
14 She sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the town,
Fiindcă ea șade la ușa casei ei, pe un scaun, în locurile înalte ale cetății,
15 calling out to those passing by, going about their business,
Ca să cheme trecători care merg drept pe căile lor;
16 “Everybody who needs to learn, come and see me!” To people who don't have any sense she says,
Orice simplu, să se abată pe aici; și celui ce îi lipsește înțelegerea, îi spune:
17 “Stolen water is sweet, and food eaten in secret tastes good!”
Apele furate sunt dulci și pâinea mâncată în taină este plăcută.
