Proverbs 9
1 Wisdom has built her house; she has prepared its seven pillars.
Die Weisheit baute ihr Haus, sie hieb ihre sieben Säulen aus.
2 She has slaughtered her animals for meat; she has mixed her wine; and she has set her table.
Sie schlachtete ihr Vieh, mischte ihren Wein und deckte ihre Tafel fein.
3 She has sent out her servant girls with invitations. She calls out from the highest places of the town,
Sie sandte ihre Mägde aus und ließ auf den höchsten Punkten der Stadt ausrufen:
4 “Everybody who needs to learn, come and see me!” To people who don't have any sense she says,
Wer einfältig ist, der mache sich herzu!
5 “Come, eat my food, and drink the wine I have mixed.
Zu den Unweisen spricht sie: Kommt her, esset von meinem Brot und trinkt von dem Wein, den ich gemischt habe!
6 Leave your foolish ways and you will live; follow the path that makes sense.”
Verlasset die Torheit, auf daß ihr lebet, und geht einher auf dem Wege des Verstandes!
7 If you correct a mocker all you get are insults; if you argue with the wicked all you get is abuse.
Wer einen Spötter züchtigt, holt sich Beschimpfung, und wer einen Gottlosen bestraft, kriegt sein Teil.
8 So don't argue with mockers or they'll only hate you; argue with the wise and they'll love you.
Bestrafe den Spötter nicht! Er haßt dich; bestrafe den Weisen, der wird dich lieben!
9 Educate the wise and they'll become even wiser; teach those who live right and they will increase their learning.
Gib dem Weisen, so wird er noch weiser werden; belehre den Gerechten, so wird er noch mehr lernen!
10 Honoring the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; knowledge of the Holy One brings insight.
Der Weisheit Anfang ist die Furcht des HERRN, und die Erkenntnis des Heiligen ist Verstand.
11 Through wisdom you'll have many more days, increasing the years of your life.
Denn durch mich werden deine Tage sich mehren und werden Jahre zu deinem Leben hinzugefügt.
12 If you are wise, you are the one to profit from it; if you scoff, you alone will have to suffer the consequences.
Bist du weise, so kommt es dir selbst zugute; bist du aber ein Spötter, so hast du's allein zu tragen.
13 Stupidity is like a loud, ignorant woman who doesn't know anything.
Frau Torheit ist frech, dabei ein einfältiges Ding, das gar nichts weiß;
14 She sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the town,
und doch sitzt sie bei der Tür ihres Hauses, auf einem Sessel auf den Höhen der Stadt,
15 calling out to those passing by, going about their business,
daß sie denen, die des Weges gehen, die auf richtigem Pfade wandeln, zurufe:
16 “Everybody who needs to learn, come and see me!” To people who don't have any sense she says,
«Wer einfältig ist, der kehre hier ein!» Und zum Unverständigen spricht sie:
17 “Stolen water is sweet, and food eaten in secret tastes good!”
«Gestohlenes Wasser ist süß und heimliches Brot ist angenehm!»
