< Proverbs 9 >

1 Wisdom has built her house; she has prepared its seven pillars.
Cueihnah loh a im a sak tih a tung parhih a vueh.
2 She has slaughtered her animals for meat; she has mixed her wine; and she has set her table.
A maeh te a ngawn tih misurtui neh a thoek tih a caboei te a tawn.
3 She has sent out her servant girls with invitations. She calls out from the highest places of the town,
Amah kah hula rhoek te a tueih tih, vangpuei hmuensang dangdoe lamkah a khue.
4 “Everybody who needs to learn, come and see me!” To people who don't have any sense she says,
Te phoeiah, “Unim hlangyoe, anih te lungbuei a talh khaw pahoi nong tak saeh.
5 “Come, eat my food, and drink the wine I have mixed.
Halo, ka buh he ang uh lamtah misur ka thoek he o uh.
6 Leave your foolish ways and you will live; follow the path that makes sense.”
Hlangyoe te hnoo lamtah hing uh, yakmingnah longpuei te uem uh.
7 If you correct a mocker all you get are insults; if you argue with the wicked all you get is abuse.
Hmuiyoi aka toel tah amah loh yah a poh tih, halang aka tluung tah amah loh nganboh a yook.
8 So don't argue with mockers or they'll only hate you; argue with the wise and they'll love you.
Hmuiyoi te tluung boeh namah m'hmuhuet ve.
9 Educate the wise and they'll become even wiser; teach those who live right and they will increase their learning.
10 Honoring the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; knowledge of the Holy One brings insight.
BOEIPA hinyahnah tah cueihnah lamhma la om tih aka cim mingnah he yakmingnah la om.
11 Through wisdom you'll have many more days, increasing the years of your life.
12 If you are wise, you are the one to profit from it; if you scoff, you alone will have to suffer the consequences.
13 Stupidity is like a loud, ignorant woman who doesn't know anything.
14 She sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the town,
Tedae a im thohka neh vangpuei hmuensang kah ngolkhoel dongah ngol.
15 calling out to those passing by, going about their business,
Te vaengah a caehlong a dueng la longpuei ah aka pongpa rhoek te a khue.
16 “Everybody who needs to learn, come and see me!” To people who don't have any sense she says,
“Hlangyoe neh lungbuei aka talh tah pahoi ha pah saeh.
17 “Stolen water is sweet, and food eaten in secret tastes good!”
A tui huen aka tui sak tih yinhnuk buh neh aka hmae,” a ti.
18 But they don't know that the dead are there, that those she's invited are in the depths of the grave. (Sheol h7585)
Tedae saelkhui laedil ah sairhai pahoi a khue pah te ming pawh. (Sheol h7585)
