Proverbs 27
1 Don't boast about what you're going to do tomorrow, because you don't know what the day may bring.
Non gloriarti del giorno di domani; Perciocchè tu non sai ciò che il giorno partorirà.
2 Let others praise you, not you yourself; someone else, not you personally.
Loditi lo strano, e non la tua propria bocca; Lo straniero, e non le tue proprie labbra.
3 Stone may be heavy, and sand may weigh a lot, but the annoyance caused by stupid people is the biggest burden of all.
Le pietre [son] pesanti, e la rena [è] grave; Ma l'ira dello stolto [è] più pesante che amendue quelle cose.
4 Fury may be fierce and cruel, anger may be a destructive flood, but who can withstand jealousy?
La collera [è] una cosa crudele, e l'ira una cosa strabocchevole; E chi potrà durar davanti alla gelosia?
5 Open criticism is better than hidden love.
Meglio vale riprensione palese, Che amore occulto.
6 A friend's honest comments may hurt you, but an enemy's kisses are over the top.
Le ferite di chi ama [son] leali; Ma i baci di chi odia [sono] simulati.
7 If you're full up, you can't face honey; but if you're starving, even bitter food tastes sweet.
La persona satolla calca il favo [del miele]; Ma alla persona affamata ogni cosa amara [è] dolce.
8 Having to leave home is like a bird having to leave its nest.
Quale [è] l'uccelletto, che va ramingo fuor del suo nido, Tale [è] l'uomo che va vagando fuor del suo luogo.
9 Perfume and scented oils make you feel happy, but good advice from a friend is even better.
L'olio odorifero [e] il profumo rallegrano il cuore; Così [fa] la dolcezza dell'amico dell'uomo per consiglio cordiale.
10 Don't give up on your friends or your family's friends. Don't go to a relative's house when you've got trouble. A friend nearby is more useful than a relative far away.
Non lasciare il tuo amico, nè l'amico di tuo padre; E non entrare in casa del tuo fratello nel giorno della tua calamità; Meglio [vale] un vicino presso, che un fratello lontano.
11 My son, make me happy by being wise, so I can respond to anyone who criticizes me.
Figliuol mio, sii savio, e rallegra il mio cuore; Ed io avrò che rispondere a colui che mi farà vituperio.
12 If you're sensible you see danger coming and get out of the way; but stupid people just keep going and suffer the consequences.
L' [uomo] avveduto, veggendo il male, si nasconde; [Ma] gli scempi passano oltre, e ne portano la pena.
13 If someone guarantees a stranger's debt with their cloak, be sure to take it! Make sure you have whatever is pledged to an immoral woman!
Prendi pure il vestimento di chi ha fatta sicurtà per lo strano; E prendi pegno da lui per la straniera.
14 If when you get up every morning you shout a loud hello to your neighbors, they will see that as a curse!
Chi benedice il suo prossimo ad alta voce, Levandosi la mattina a buon'ora, [Ciò] gli sarà reputato in maledizione.
15 An argumentative wife is as irritating as constant dripping on a rainy day.
Un gocciolar continuo in giorno di gran pioggia, E una donna rissosa, è tutt'uno.
16 Trying to stop her is like trying to make the wind stop or trying to hold olive oil in your hand.
Chi vuol tenerla serrata, pubblica di [voler] serrar del vento, E dell'olio nella sua man destra.
17 An iron blade is sharpened with an iron tool, and one person's mind is sharpened by another's.
Il ferro si pulisce col ferro; Così l'uomo pulisce la faccia del suo prossimo.
18 Those who care for a fig tree eat its fruit, and those who care for their master are rewarded.
Chi guarda il fico ne mangia il frutto; Così chi guarda il suo signore sarà onorato.
19 Just as water reflects your face, your mind reflects who you really are.
Come l'acqua [rappresenta] la faccia alla faccia; Così il cuor dell'uomo [rappresenta l'uomo] all'uomo.
20 In the same way that the grave and destruction are never satisfied, human desire is never satisfied. (Sheol h7585)
Il sepolcro, e il luogo della perdizione, non son giammai satolli; Così anche giammai non si saziano gli occhi dell'uomo. (Sheol h7585)
21 Just as a crucible tests silver, and a furnace tests gold, people are tested by the praise they receive.
La coppella [è] per l'argento, e il fornello per l'oro; Ma l'uomo [è provato] per la bocca che lo loda.
22 Even if you ground stupid people in a mortar, crushing them like grain with the pestle, you can't get rid of stupidity from them.
Avvegnachè tu pestassi lo stolto in un mortaio, Col pestello, per mezzo del grano infranto, La sua follia non si dipartirebbe però da lui.
23 You should know the condition of your flocks really well and take good care of your herds,
Abbi diligentemente cura delle tue pecore, Metti il cuor tuo alle mandre.
24 for wealth doesn't last forever—is a crown passed down through all generations?
Perciocchè i tesori non [durano] in perpetuo; E la corona [è ella] per ogni età?
25 Once the hay is cut, and the new growth begins, and fodder from the mountains is gathered,
Il fieno nasce, e l'erbaggio spunta, E le erbe de' monti son raccolte.
26 and the lambs have provided you wool to make clothing, and the sale of goats have paid for a field,
Gli agnelli [son] per lo tuo vestire, E i becchi [sono] il prezzo di un campo.
27 there'll be enough milk from your goats to feed you, your family, and your servant girls.
E l'abbondanza del latte delle capre è per tuo cibo, [E] per cibo di casa tua, E per lo vitto delle tue serventi.
