< Proverbs 2 >

1 My son, if you accept what I say and value my instructions,
Ọmọ mi, bí ìwọ bá gba ọ̀rọ̀ mi, tí ìwọ sì pa òfin mi mọ́ sí inú rẹ,
2 if you pay attention to wisdom and really try to understand;
tí ìwọ dẹtí rẹ sílẹ̀ sí ọgbọ́n tí ìwọ sì fi ọkàn rẹ sí òye,
3 if you cry out for insight and call loudly for help in understanding;
àní, bí ìwọ bá ké tọ ìmọ̀ lẹ́yìn, tí ìwọ sì gbé ohùn rẹ sókè fún òye
4 if you look for it as if it were silver and search for it as if it were hidden treasure;
bí ìwọ bá ṣàfẹ́rí rẹ̀ bí i fàdákà tí ìwọ sì wa kiri bí ìṣúra tí a fi pamọ́.
5 then you will understand how to relate to the Lord and discover the truth about God.
Nígbà náà ni ìwọ yóò bẹ̀rù Olúwa, ìwọ yóò sì rí ìmọ̀ Ọlọ́run.
6 The Lord is the source of wisdom; what he says provides knowledge that makes sense.

7 He gives good judgment to those who live right; he defends those who have good sense.
Ó to ìgbàlà fún àwọn olódodo, Òun ni asà fún àwọn tí ń rìn déédé,
8 He supports those who act fairly and protects those who trust in him.
Ó pa ipa ọ̀nà ìdájọ́ mọ́ Ó sì ń pa ọ̀nà àwọn àyànfẹ́ rẹ̀ mọ́.
9 Then you will be able to recognize what is right and just and fair, in fact all that is good in the way you should live.
Nígbà náà ni ìwọ yóò mọ òdodo àti ìdájọ́, àti àìṣègbè—gbogbo ipa ọ̀nà rere.
10 For wisdom will fill your mind, and knowledge will make you happy.

11 Good decisions will keep you on track; thinking logically will keep you safe.
Ìmòye yóò pa ọ mọ́ òye yóò sì máa ṣọ́ ọ.
12 Doing this will save you from the ways of evil, from men who tell twisted lies,
Ọgbọ́n yóò gbà ọ́ là kúrò ní ọ̀nà àwọn ènìyàn búburú, lọ́dọ̀ àwọn ènìyàn tí ọrọ̀ ọ wọn jẹ́ àyídáyidà,

ẹni tí ó kúrò ní ọ̀nà ìdúró ṣinṣin láti rìn ní ọ̀nà tí ó ṣókùnkùn,
14 They happily do wrong; they love how twisted evil is.

15 They live crooked lives doing deceitful things.
ọ̀nà ẹni tí ó wọ́ tí wọ́n sì jẹ́ alárékérekè ní ọ̀nà wọn.
16 Doing this will also save you from a woman who acts immorally, from a woman who like a prostitute tries to seduce you with flattering words.
Yóò gba ìwọ pẹ̀lú là kúrò lọ́wọ́ àwọn àjèjì obìnrin, àní, lọ́wọ́ obìnrin àjèjì tí ń fi ọ̀rọ̀ ẹnu rẹ̀ tannijẹ,
17 Such a woman has left her husband she married when she was young, forgetting the promises she made before God.
ẹni tí ó ti kọ ọkọ àkọ́fẹ́ ìgbà èwe rẹ̀ sílẹ̀ tí ó sì gbàgbé májẹ̀mú tí ó ti dá níwájú Ọlọ́run rẹ̀.
18 What happens in her house leads to death; following her way leads to the grave.
Nítorí ilé rẹ̀ jẹ́ ọ̀nà sí ikú ipa ọ̀nà rẹ̀ sọ́dọ̀ àwọn òkú.
19 No one who goes to her comes back; they don't ever find the way back to life again.
Kò sẹ́ni tó lọ sọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ tí ó padà bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọn kì í dé ọ̀nà ìyè.
20 So you should follow the way of the good, and make sure you stay on the paths of those who do right.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ìwọ yóò rìn ní ọ̀nà àwọn ènìyàn rere kí ìwọ kí ó sì pa ọ̀nà àwọn olódodo mọ́.
21 For only people who live right will live in the land; only honest people will remain there.

22 But the wicked will be thrown out of the land; those who are untrustworthy will be pulled out by the roots.
Ṣùgbọ́n a ó ké ènìyàn búburú kúrò lórí ilẹ̀ náà a ó sì fa àwọn aláìṣòótọ́ tu kúrò lórí rẹ̀.
