< Proverbs 14 >
1 Every wise woman builds her house, but the stupid woman tears it down with her own hands.
Fanm saj la bati kay li, men fanm ensanse a demoli li ak pwòp men li.
2 Those who live right respect the Lord, but those who live dishonestly despise him.
Sila ki mache nan ladwati a gen lakrent SENYÈ a; men sila ki fè chemen kwochi a meprize li.
3 What stupid people say punishes their pride, but what wise people say will protect them.
Nan bouch a moun sòt la, se yon baton pou do li; men lèv a saj yo va pwoteje yo.
4 Without oxen, the manger is empty, but a good harvest comes through the ox's strength.
Kote nanpwen bèf, manjwa a pwòp; men se fòs a bèf la ki fè richès.
5 A trustworthy witness doesn't lie, but a false witness is deceptive.
Yon temwen fidèl p ap bay manti; men yon fo temwen pale manti.
6 It's pointless for a scoffer to look for wisdom, but knowledge comes easily to someone who understands.
Yon mokè chache sajès, e li pa jwenn anyen; men konesans fasil pou sila ki gen bon konprann nan.
7 Stay away from stupid people—you won't learn anything from them.
Kite prezans a yon moun ensanse, sinon ou p ap rekonèt pawòl a saj yo.
8 Sensible people use their wisdom to decide where they're going, but the foolishness of stupid people is treacherous.
Sajès a moun rezonab la se pou l konprann chemen li; men betiz a moun ensanse a se desepsyon.
9 Stupid people laugh at sin, but good people want forgiveness.
Moun ensanse kontwole peche kon jwèt; men pami moun dwat yo, gen bòn volonte.
10 The individual's mind alone knows its sadnesses, and no one else can share its happiness.
Kè a konnen pwòp amètim ak bonè li; men ak lòt, sa p ap pataje.
11 The house of wicked people will be destroyed, but the tent of good people will prosper.
Lakay mechan yo va detwi; men tant a moun dwat la va fleri.
12 There's a way that seems to be right, but in the end it's the way of death.
Gen yon chemen ki sanble bon pou lòm; men fen li se chemen lanmò an.
13 Even when you're laughing you can be feeling sad—joy can end in grief.
Menm lè bouch ri, kè a ka gen doulè, e lajwa kon fini nan tristès.
14 Disloyal people are repaid for what they do, and good people are rewarded.
Kè a ki pa fidèl va jwen rekonpans pou pwòp chemen li; men yon bon moun va rekonpanse pou sa li fè a.
15 Stupid people believe whatever they're told, but sensible people think about what they're doing.
Moun san konprann kwè nan tout bagay; men yon nonm k ap refleshi veye pa li yo.
16 Wise people are careful and avoid evil, but stupid people are confidently reckless.
Yon nonm saj fè atansyon pou l vire kite mal; men yon moun fou plen ògèy; li pa pè anyen.
17 Quick-tempered people act foolishly, while people who make evil plans are hated.
Yon nonm kolerik aji nan foli, e yon nonm kokèn va rayi pa lòt yo.
18 The inheritance of stupid people is stupidity, but sensible people are rewarded with knowledge.
Moun san konprann yo gen foli kon eritaj; men moun rezonab lan kouwone ak konesans.
19 Evil people bow down before good people, and the wicked bow down at the doors of those who do right.
Mal la va bese devan sa ki bon an; e mechan an devan pòtay a moun dwat la.
20 The poor are hated even by their neighbors, while the rich have many friends.
Malere a vin rayi menm pa vwazen li; men moun gwo kòb gen anpil zanmi.
21 People who look down on their neighbors are sinners, but those who are kind to the poor are blessed.
Sila ki meprize vwazen li fè peche; men sila ki fè gras a malere a, beni.
22 Aren't people who plan to do evil wrong? But those who plan to do good have trustworthy love and faithfulness.
Èske sila ki fòmante mechanste a, pa egare? Men ladousè avèk verite se pou sa yo ki fè sa ki bon.
23 There's profit in hard work, but chatting just leads to poverty.
Nan tout travay gen pwofi; men pale anpil mennen nan povrete.
24 The wise are rewarded with wealth, but stupid people are rewarded with stupidity.
Kouwòn saj yo se richès yo; men betiz moun ensanse se foli yo.
25 A truthful witness saves lives, but a false witness is treacherous.
Yon vrè temwen sove lavi a moun; men sila ki pale manti pase moun nan betiz.
26 People who honor the Lord are completely safe; he will protect their children.
Nan lakrent SENYÈ a, gen gwo konfyans; e pitit li yo va jwenn sekou.
27 Respecting the Lord is like a fountain of life, so you can avoid the snares of death.
Lakrent SENYÈ a se yon fontèn dlo lavi, pou moun ka evite pèlen lanmò yo.
28 The glory of a king is the number of his subjects, for a ruler is nothing without them.
Nan fòs kantite a pèp yo se glwa a yon wa, men afè prens ki manke moun gate nèt.
29 If you're slow to get angry, you're very wise; but if you have a short fuse you glorify stupidity.
Sila ki lan nan kòlè a, gen gwo konprann; men sila ki fè fache vit, leve foli byen wo.
30 A peaceful mind makes your body healthy, but jealousy makes your bones rot.
Yon kè trankil se lavi pou kò a; men pasyon fè tout zo yo pouri.
31 Anyone who oppresses the poor insults their Maker, but anyone who is kind to the needy honors him.
Sila ki oprime malere a ap vekse Kreyatè li; men sila ki gen bonte anvè pòv la, onore L.
32 Wicked people are brought down by their own evil actions, but those who live right are confident even in death.
Mechan an jete anba pa malfezans li; men moun ladwati a gen sekou lè l mouri.
33 Wisdom is at home in a mind that understands, but it's not found among stupid people.
Sajès se nan kè a sila ki gen bon konprann nan; menm moun ensanse yo, nan kè, yo konnen.
34 Doing right makes a nation successful, but sin is a disgrace to any people.
Ladwati leve yon nasyon; men peche se yon gwo wont pou yon pèp.
35 A servant who acts wisely is appreciated by the king, but he gets angry with a servant who acts disgracefully.
Favè a wa a se anvè sèvitè ki aji ak sajès; men kòlè li se anvè sila ki fè gwo wont.
