< Proverbs 11 >

1 The Lord hates dishonest scales, but accurate weights please him.
Olúwa kórìíra òsùwọ̀n èké, ṣùgbọ́n òsùwọ̀n òtítọ́ jẹ́ inú dídùn un rẹ̀.
2 With pride comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
Nígbà tí ìgbéraga bá dé, nígbà náà ni ìdójútì dé, ṣùgbọ́n pẹ̀lú ìrẹ̀lẹ̀ ni ọgbọ́n ń wá.
3 Honesty guides the good, but deceit destroys liars.
Òtítọ́ inú ẹni dídúró ṣinṣin ń ṣe amọ̀nà rẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n aláìṣòótọ́ yóò parun nípasẹ̀ àìṣòótọ́ wọn.
4 Wealth won't help you on judgment day, but goodness saves you from death.
Ọ̀rọ̀ kò níláárí ní ọjọ́ ìbínú, ṣùgbọ́n òdodo a máa gbani lọ́wọ́ ikú.
5 The goodness of the innocent keeps them on track, but the wicked fall by their own wickedness.
Òdodo aláìlẹ́gàn ṣe ọ̀nà tààrà fún wọn, ṣùgbọ́n ìwà búburú ènìyàn búburú yóò fà á lulẹ̀.
6 The goodness of those who live right will save them, but the dishonest are trapped by their own desires.
Òdodo ẹni ìdúró ṣinṣin gbà wọ́n là, ṣùgbọ́n ìdẹ̀kùn ètè búburú mú aláìṣòótọ́.
7 When a wicked person dies, their hopes die with them; what the godless look forward to is gone.
Nígbà tí ènìyàn búburú bá kú, ìrètí rẹ̀ a parun; gbogbo ohun tó ń fojú ṣọ́nà fún nípa agbára rẹ̀ já ṣófo.
8 The good are saved from trouble, while the wicked get into trouble.
A gba olódodo kúrò lọ́wọ́ ibi dípò o rẹ̀, ibi wá sórí ènìyàn búburú.
9 Godless people mouth off and destroy their neighbors, but the good are saved by wisdom.
Aláìmọ Ọlọ́run fi ẹnu rẹ̀ ba aládùúgbò rẹ̀ jẹ́, ṣùgbọ́n nípasẹ̀ ìmọ̀ olódodo sá àsálà.
10 The whole town celebrates when good people are successful; they also shout for joy when the wicked die.
Nígbà tí olódodo ń gbèrú, ìlú a yọ̀; nígbà tí ènìyàn búburú parun, ariwo ayọ̀ gba ìlú kan.
11 Ethical people are a blessing to a town, but what the wicked say destroys it.
Nípasẹ̀ ìbùkún, olódodo a gbé ìlú ga: ṣùgbọ́n nípasẹ̀ ẹnu ènìyàn búburú, a pa ìlú run.
12 People who run down their neighbors have no sense; someone who's sensible keeps quiet.
Ẹni tí kò gbọ́n fojú kékeré wo aládùúgbò rẹ̀ ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí ó ní òye pa ẹnu rẹ̀ mọ́.
13 A gossip goes around telling secrets, but trustworthy people keep confidences.
Olófòófó tú àṣírí ìkọ̀kọ̀ ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tó ṣe é gbẹ́kẹ̀lé a pa àṣírí mọ́.
14 A nation falls without good guidance, but they are saved through much wise counsel.
Nítorí àìní ìtọ́sọ́nà orílẹ̀-èdè ṣubú ṣùgbọ́n nípasẹ̀ ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ olùbádámọ̀ràn ìṣẹ́gun dájú.
15 You'll get into trouble if you guarantee a stranger's loans—you're far safer if you refuse to make such pledges.
Ẹni tí ó ṣe onígbọ̀wọ́ fún àlejò yóò rí ìyọnu, ṣùgbọ́n ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó kọ̀ láti ṣe onígbọ̀wọ́ yóò wà láìléwu.
16 A gracious woman holds on to her honor just as ruthless men hold on to their wealth.
Obìnrin oníwà rere gba ìyìn ṣùgbọ́n alágbára aláìbìkítà ènìyàn gba ọrọ̀ nìkan.
17 If you're kind, you'll be rewarded; but if you're cruel, you'll hurt yourself.
Ènìyàn rere ń ṣe ara rẹ̀ lóore ṣùgbọ́n ènìyàn ìkà ń mú ìyọnu wá sórí ara rẹ̀.
18 The wicked earn wages that cheat them, but those who sow goodness reap a genuine reward.
Ènìyàn búburú gba èrè ìtànjẹ ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tó fúnrúgbìn òdodo yóò gba èrè tó dájú.
19 Do what's right, and you will live; chase after evil and you will die.
Olódodo tòótọ́ rí ìyè ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí ń lépa ibi lé e sí ibi ikú ara rẹ̀.
20 The Lord hates perverted minds, but is happy with those who live moral lives.
Olúwa kórìíra àwọn ènìyàn ọlọ́kàn búburú ṣùgbọ́n ó ní inú dídùn sí àwọn tí ọ̀nà wọn kò lábùkù.
21 You can be certain of this: the wicked won't go unpunished, but the good will be saved.
Mọ èyí dájú pé, ènìyàn búburú kì yóò lọ láìjìyà, ṣùgbọ́n àwọn olódodo yóò lọ láìjìyà.
22 A beautiful woman who lacks good judgment is like a gold ring in a pig's snout.
Bí òrùka wúrà ní imú ẹlẹ́dẹ̀ ni arẹwà obìnrin tí kò lọ́gbọ́n.
23 Good people want what's best, but what the wicked hope for ends in death.
Ìfẹ́ inú olódodo yóò yọrí sí ohun rere ṣùgbọ́n ìrètí ènìyàn búburú yóò yọrí sí ìbínú.
24 If you give generously you receive more, but if you keep back what you should give, you end up poor.
Ènìyàn kan ń fún ni lọ́fẹ̀ẹ́, síbẹ̀ ó ń ní sí i; òmíràn ń háwọ́ ju bí ó ti yẹ ṣùgbọ́n ó di aláìní.
25 If you're generous, you'll become rich; give someone a drink of water, and you'll be given one in return.
Ẹni tí ń ṣoore yóò máa gbèrú sí i; ẹni tí ó tu ẹlòmíràn lára yóò ní ìtura.
26 People curse those who hoard grain; but they bless those who sell.
Àwọn ènìyàn a ṣẹ́ èpè lé ènìyàn tí ń kó oúnjẹ pamọ́ ṣùgbọ́n ìbùkún a máa wá sórí ẹni tí ó ṣetán láti tà.
27 If you look to do good, you'll be appreciated; but if you look for evil, you'll find it!
Ẹni tí ń lépa ohun rere yóò rí ohun rere ṣùgbọ́n ibi yóò dé bá ẹni tí ń lépa ibi.
28 If you trust in your riches, you'll fall; but if you do good, you'll flourish like green leaves.
Ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá gbẹ́kẹ̀lé ọrọ̀ rẹ̀ yóò ṣubú; ṣùgbọ́n olódodo yóò gbilẹ̀ bí i koríko tútù.
29 If you cause trouble in your family, you'll inherit nothing but air. Stupid people end up as servants to those who think wisely.
Ẹni tí ó ń mú ìdààmú dé bá ìdílé rẹ̀ yóò jogún afẹ́fẹ́ lásán aláìgbọ́n yóò sì máa ṣe ìránṣẹ́ fún ọlọ́gbọ́n.
30 The fruit of the good is a tree of life, and the wise person saves people.
Èso òdodo ni igi ìyè ẹni tí ó sì jèrè ọkàn jẹ́ ọlọ́gbọ́n.
31 If the good are repaid here on earth, how much more will the wicked who sin be repaid!
Bí àwọn olódodo bá gba ìpín wọn lórí ilẹ̀ ayé mélòó mélòó ni ènìyàn búburú àti àwọn tó dẹ́ṣẹ̀!
