1 Solomon's proverbs. A wise son makes his father happy, but a stupid son only brings his mother grief.
THE PARABLE OF SALOMON. A wise sonne maketh a glad father: but a foolish sonne is an heauines to his mother.
2 Wealth gained through evil does you no good; but living right saves you from death.
The treasures of wickednesse profite nothing: but righteousnesse deliuereth from death.
3 The Lord doesn't let good people go hungry, but he stops the wicked from getting what they want.
The Lord will not famish the soule of the righteous: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
4 Lazy hands make you poor, but hard-working hands make you rich.
A slouthfull hand maketh poore: but the hand of the diligent maketh riche.
5 A son who gathers crops during the summer is sensible, but the one who sleeps during harvest brings disgrace.
He that gathereth in sommer, is the sonne of wisdome: but he that sleepeth in haruest, is the sonne of confusion.
6 Those who are good are blessed, but what the wicked say hides their violent nature.
Blessings are vpon the head of the righteous: but iniquitie shall couer the mouth of the wicked.
7 The good are remembered as a blessing, but the reputation of the wicked will rot.
The memoriall of the iust shalbe blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rotte.
8 Those who think wisely pay attention to instruction, but a stupid chatterbox ends up in disaster.
The wise in heart will receiue commandements: but the foolish in talke shalbe beaten.
9 Honest people will live in safety, but those who behave deceitfully will be caught out.
He that walketh vprightly, walketh boldely: but he that peruerteth his wayes, shalbe knowen.
10 People who wink slyly cause trouble, but someone who gives a strong rebuke brings peace.
He that winketh with the eye, worketh sorowe, and he yet is foolish in talke, shalbe beaten.
11 What good people say is a spring that gives life, but what the wicked say hides their violent nature.
The mouth of a righteous man is a welspring of life: but iniquitie couereth the mouth of the wicked.
12 Hatred causes conflict, but love covers all wrongs.
Hatred stirreth vp contentions: but loue couereth all trespasses.
13 Wisdom comes from people with good judgment, but stupid people are punished with a rod.
In the lippes of him that hath vnderstanding wisdome is founde, and a rod shalbe for the backe of him that is destitute of wisedome.
14 Wise people accumulate knowledge, but the chattering of stupid people is a prelude to disaster.
Wise men lay vp knowledge: but ye mouth of the foole is a present destruction.
15 The wealth of the rich provides them protection, while the poverty of the poor ruins them.
The riche mans goodes are his strong citie: but the feare of the needie is their pouertie.
16 If you do right you're rewarded with life, but if you're wicked all you gain is sin.
The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: but the reuenues of the wicked to sinne.
17 If you accept instruction, you're on the path to life, but if you reject correction you'll go astray.
He that regardeth instruction, is in the way of life: but he that refuseth correction, goeth out of the way.
18 Anyone who hides their hatred is lying, and anyone who spreads slander is stupid.
He that dissembleth hatred with lying lips, and he that inuenteth slaunder, is a foole.
19 If you talk too much, you'll say something wrong. Be wise and take care what you say.
In many wordes there cannot want iniquitie: but he that refrayneth his lippes, is wise.
20 What good people say is like the best silver, but the mind of the wicked isn't worth much.
The tongue of the iust man is as fined siluer: but the heart of the wicked is litle worth.
21 Advice from good people helps feed many others, but stupid people die because they have no sense.
The lippes of the righteous doe feede many: but fooles shall die for want of wisedome.
22 The Lord's blessing makes you rich, and he doesn't add any sadness to accompany it.
The blessing of the Lord, it maketh riche, and he doeth adde no sorowes with it.
23 Stupid people think it's fun to do wrong, but someone who has wisdom understands what's right.
It is as a pastime to a foole to doe wickedly: but wisedome is vnderstanding to a man.
24 What the wicked fear will happen to them, while what good people hope for will be granted.
That which the wicked feareth, shall come vpon him: but God wil graunt the desire of the righteous.
25 When the storm hits, the wicked are no more, but the good are safe and secure forever.
As the whirlewinde passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is as an euerlasting foundation.
26 In the same way vinegar irritates the teeth and smoke irritates the eyes, lazy people irritate their employers.
As vineger is to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the slouthful to them that send him.
27 Honoring the Lord makes your life longer, but the years the wicked live will be cut short.
The feare of the Lord increaseth the dayes: but the yeeres of the wicked shalbe diminished.
28 Good people look forward to happiness, but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing.
The patient abiding of the righteous shall be gladnesse: but the hope of the wicked shall perish.
29 The way of the Lord protects those who do right, but he destroys those who do evil.
The way of the Lord is strength to the vpright man: but feare shall be for the workers of iniquitie.
30 The good will never be removed from the land, but the wicked will not remain there.
The righteous shall neuer be remooued: but the wicked shall not dwell in the land.
31 What good people say produces wisdom, but liars will have their tongues cut out.
The mouth of the iust shall be fruitfull in wisdome: but the tongue of the froward shall be cut out.
32 Good people know the right thing to say, but the wicked always lie.
The lips of the righteous knowe what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh froward things.
