1 The Lord spoke to Moses in the Tent of Meeting while they were in the Sinai desert. This was on the first day of the second month of the second year after the Israelites had left Egypt. He told him,
And he spoke Yahweh to Moses in [the] wilderness of Sinai in [the] tent of meeting on [day] one of the month second in the year second of going out their from [the] land of Egypt saying.
2 “Census all the Israelites according to their tribe and family. Count every man and keep a record of each individual's name.
Lift up [the] head of all [the] congregation of [the] people of Israel to clans their to [the] house of ancestors their by [the] number of names of every male to heads their.
3 Those aged twenty or older who can do military service are to be registered by you and Aaron in their Israelite army divisions.
From a son of twenty year[s] and up-wards every [one who] goes forth warfare in Israel you will enroll them to military groups their you and Aaron.
4 A representative from each tribe, the head of a family, must be there with you.
And with you they will be a man a man to the tribe a man [is the] head of [the] house of ancestors his he.
5 These are the names of the men who will work with you: From the tribe of Reuben, Elizur, son of Shedeur;
And these [are] [the] names of the men who they will stand with you for Reuben Elizur [the] son of Shedeur.
6 from the tribe of Simeon, Shelumiel, son of Zurishaddai;
For Simeon Shelumiel [the] son of Zurishaddai.
7 from the tribe of Judah, Nahshon, son of Amminadab;
For Judah Nahshon [the] son of Amminadab.
8 from the tribe of Issachar, Nethanel, son of Zuar;
For Issachar Nethanel [the] son of Zuar.
9 from the tribe of Zebulun, Eliab, son of Helon;
For Zebulun Eliab [the] son of Helon.
10 from the sons of Joseph: from the tribe of Ephraim, Elishama, son of Ammihud, and from the tribe of Manasseh, Gamaliel, son of Pedahzur;
For [the] sons of Joseph for Ephraim Elishama [the] son of Ammihud for Manasseh Gamaliel [the] son of Pedahzur.
11 from the tribe of Benjamin, Abidan, son of Gideoni;
For Benjamin Abidan [the] son of Gideoni.
12 from the tribe of Dan, Ahiezer, son of Ammishaddai;
For Dan Ahiezer [the] son of Ammishaddai.
13 from the tribe of Asher, Pagiel, son of Ocran;
For Asher Pagiel [the] son of Ocran.
14 from the tribe of Gad, Eliasaph, son of Deuel;
For Gad Eliasaph [the] son of Deuel.
15 and from the tribe of Naphtali, Ahira, son of Enan.”

16 These were the men chosen from the Israelite community. They were the leaders of their fathers' tribes; the heads of the families of Israel.
These ([were those] called *Q(K)*) [of] the congregation [the] leaders of [the] tribes of ancestors their [were] [the] heads of [the] families of Israel they.
17 Moses and Aaron summoned these men who had been selected by name.
And he took Moses and Aaron the men these who they had been designated by names.
18 They had all the Israelites gather together on the first day of the second month, and recorded the people's genealogy according to their tribe and family, and counted up the names of all those aged twenty or older,
And all the congregation they summoned on [day] one of the month second and they recorded their ancestry on clans their to [the] house of ancestors their by [the] number of names from a son of twenty year[s] and up-wards to heads their.
19 as the Lord had told Moses to do. Moses conducted this census in the Sinai desert.
Just as he had commanded Yahweh Moses and he enrolled them in [the] wilderness of Sinai.
20 The descendants of Reuben, (he was Israel's firstborn son), men aged twenty or over, were recorded by name according to the genealogical records of their tribe and families. All those registered who could serve in the army
And they were [the] descendants of Reuben [the] firstborn of Israel genealogies their to clans their to [the] house of ancestors their by [the] number of names to heads their every male from a son of twenty year[s] and up-wards every [one who] goes forth warfare.
21 from the tribe of Reuben totaled 46,500.
Enrolled [men] their of [the] tribe of Reuben [were] six and forty thousand and five hundred.
22 The descendants of Simeon, men aged twenty or over, were recorded by name according to the genealogical records of their tribe and families. All those registered who could serve in the army
Of [the] descendants of Simeon genealogies their to clans their to [the] house of ancestors their enrolled [men] its by [the] number of names to heads their every male from a son of twenty year[s] and up-wards every [one who] goes forth warfare.
23 from the tribe of Simeon totaled 59,300.
Enrolled [men] their of [the] tribe of Simeon [were] nine and fifty thousand and three hundred.
24 The descendants of Gad, men aged twenty or over, were recorded by name according to the genealogical records of their tribe and families. All those registered who could serve in the army
Of [the] descendants of Gad genealogies their to clans their to [the] house of ancestors their by [the] number of names from a son of twenty year[s] and up-wards every [one who] goes forth warfare.
25 from the tribe of Gad totaled 45,650.
Enrolled [men] their of [the] tribe of Gad [were] five and forty thousand and six hundred and fifty.
26 The descendants of Judah, men aged twenty or older, were recorded by name according to the genealogical records of their tribe and families. All those registered who could serve in the army
Of [the] descendants of Judah genealogies their to clans their to [the] house of ancestors their by [the] number of names from a son of twenty year[s] and up-wards every [one who] goes forth warfare.
27 from the tribe of Judah, totaled 74,600.
Enrolled [men] their of [the] tribe of Judah [were] four and seventy thousand and six hundred.
28 The descendants of Issachar, men aged twenty or older, were recorded by name according to the genealogical records of their tribe and families. All those registered who could serve in the army
Of [the] descendants of Issachar genealogies their to clans their to [the] house of ancestors their by [the] number of names from a son of twenty year[s] and up-wards every [one who] goes forth warfare.
29 from the tribe of Issachar, totaled 54,400.
Enrolled [men] their of [the] tribe of Issachar [were] four and fifty thousand and four hundred.
30 The descendants of Zebulun, men aged twenty or older, were recorded by name according to the genealogical records of their tribe and families. All those registered who could serve in the army
Of [the] descendants of Zebulun genealogies their to clans their to [the] house of ancestors their by [the] number of names from a son of twenty year[s] and up-wards every [one who] goes forth warfare.
31 from the tribe of Zebulun, totaled 57,400.
Enrolled [men] their of [the] tribe of Zebulun [were] seven and fifty thousand and four hundred.
32 The descendants of Joseph: the descendants of Ephraim, men aged twenty or older, were recorded by name according to the genealogical records of their tribe and families. All those registered who could serve in the army
Of [the] descendants of Joseph of [the] descendants of Ephraim genealogies their to clans their to [the] house of ancestors their by [the] number of names from a son of twenty year[s] and up-wards every [one who] goes forth warfare.
33 from the tribe of Ephraim, totaled 40,500.
Enrolled [men] their of [the] tribe of Ephraim [were] forty thousand and five hundred.
34 And the descendants of Manasseh, men aged twenty or older, were recorded by name according to the genealogical records of their tribe and families. All those registered who could serve in the army
Of [the] descendants of Manasseh genealogies their to clans their to [the] house of ancestors their by [the] number of names from a son of twenty year[s] and up-wards every [one who] goes forth warfare.
35 from the tribe of Manasseh, totaled 32,200.
Enrolled [men] their of [the] tribe of Manasseh [were] two and thirty thousand and two hundred.
36 The descendants of Benjamin, men aged twenty or older, were recorded by name according to the genealogical records of their tribe and families. All those registered who could serve in the army
Of [the] descendants of Benjamin genealogies their to clans their to [the] house of ancestors their by [the] number of names from a son of twenty year[s] and up-wards every [one who] goes forth warfare.
37 from the tribe of Benjamin, totaled 35,400.
Enrolled [men] their of [the] tribe of Benjamin [were] five and thirty thousand and four hundred.
38 The descendants of Dan, men aged twenty or older, were recorded by name according to the genealogical records of their tribe and families. All those registered who could serve in the army
Of [the] descendants of Dan genealogies their to clans their to [the] house of ancestors their by [the] number of names from a son of twenty year[s] and up-wards every [one who] goes forth warfare.
39 from the tribe of Dan, totaled 62,700.
Enrolled [men] their of [the] tribe of Dan [were] two and sixty thousand and seven hundred.
40 The descendants of Asher, men aged twenty or older, were recorded by name according to the genealogical records of their tribe and families. All those registered who could serve in the army
Of [the] descendants of Asher genealogies their to clans their to [the] house of ancestors their by [the] number of names from a son of twenty year[s] and up-wards every [one who] goes forth warfare.
41 from the tribe of Asher, totaled 41,500.
Enrolled [men] their of [the] tribe of Asher [were] one and forty thousand and five hundred.
42 The descendants of Naphtali, men aged twenty or older, were recorded by name according to the genealogical records of their tribe and families. All those registered who could serve in the army
[the] descendants of Naphtali genealogies their to clans their to [the] house of ancestors their by [the] number of names from a son of twenty year[s] and up-wards every [one who] goes forth warfare.
43 from the tribe of Naphtali, totaled 53,400.
Enrolled [men] their of [the] tribe of Naphtali [were] three and fifty thousand and four hundred.
44 These were the totals of the men counted and registered by Moses and Aaron, with the help of the twelve leaders of Israel, who each represented their family.
These [were] the enrolled [men] whom he enrolled Moses and Aaron and [the] leaders of Israel two [plus] ten man a man one for [the] house of ancestors his they were.
45 In this way all the Israelite men aged twenty or older who were able to serve in Israel's army were registered according to their families.
And they were all [those] enrolled of [the] people of Israel to [the] house of ancestors their from a son of twenty year[s] and up-wards every [one who] goes forth warfare in Israel.
46 The sum total of those registered was 603,550.
And they were all those enrolled six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
47 However, the Levites were not registered with the others according to their tribe and families.
And the Levites to [the] tribe of ancestors their not they were enrolled in midst of them.
48 This was because the Lord had told Moses,
And he had spoken Yahweh to Moses saying.
49 “Don't register the tribe of Levi; don't count them in the census with the other Israelites.
Only [the] tribe of Levi not you will enroll and head their not you will lift up in among [the] people of Israel.
50 Put the Levites in charge of the Tabernacle and of the Testimony, as well as all its furniture and everything it contains. They are the ones responsible for carrying the Tabernacle and all its items. They are to care for it, and to make their camp around it.
And you appoint the Levites over [the] tabernacle of the testimony and over all articles its and over all that [belongs] to it they they will carry the tabernacle and all articles its and they they will serve it and around the tabernacle they will encamp.
51 When it's time to move the Tabernacle, the Levites shall take it down, and when it's time to make camp, the Levites shall put it up. Any outsider who goes near it must be put to death.
And when sets out the tabernacle they will take down it the Levites and when encamps the tabernacle they will raise up it the Levites and the stranger approaching he will be put to death.
52 The Israelites are to make camp according to their tribal divisions, each person in their own camp under their own flag.
And they will encamp [the] people of Israel everyone at camp his and everyone at standard his to military groups their.
53 But the Levites are to set up their camp around the Tabernacle of the Testimony to stop anyone making me angry with the Israelites. The Levites are responsible for looking after the Tabernacle of the Testimony.”
And the Levites they will encamp around [the] tabernacle of the testimony and not it will be wrath towards [the] congregation of [the] people Israel and they will keep the Levites [the] duty of [the] tabernacle of the testimony.
54 The Israelites did everything that the Lord ordered Moses that they should do.
And they did [the] people of Israel according to all that he had commanded Yahweh Moses so they did.
