< Numbers 36 >
1 The family heads of the descendants of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, one of the tribes of Joseph, came and spoke before Moses and the Israelite leaders, the heads of families.
2 They said, “When the Lord ordered you, my lord, to allocate land ownership to the Israelites by lot, he also ordered you to give our brother Zelophehad's share to his daughters.
3 However, if they marry men from the other tribes of Israel, their allocation would be taken away our fathers' share and added to the tribe of the men they marry. That part of our allocation would be lost to us.
Men, si medam sa yo marye ak yon nonm ki fè pati yon lòt branch nan fanmi pèp Izrayèl la, pòsyon ki pou yo a pral soti sou tè zansèt pa nou yo. Konsa, pòsyon tè ki pou branch fanmi nonm yo marye a pral vin pi plis, epi pòsyon tè ki te vin pou nou an lè yo te tire osò a pral vin pi piti.
4 So when the Jubilee for the Israelites comes around, their allocation would be added to the tribe into which they marry, and taken away from our fathers' tribe.”
Lè lanne rejwisans lan va rive pou moun pèp Izrayèl yo, yo pral pran pòsyon tè ki te pou medam sa yo, yo pral wete l' nan pa branch fanmi zansèt nou yo, yo pral mete l' sou pa branch fanmi mari yo.
5 Following what the Lord told him, Moses gave these orders to the Israelites, “What the tribe of the sons of Joseph says is right.
Se konsa, dapre lòd Seyè a te ba li, Moyiz bay moun pèp Izrayèl yo regleman sa a pou yo swiv. Li di yo konsa: -Moun branch fanmi Jozèf yo gen rezon.
6 This is what the Lord has ordered in regard to Zelophehad's daughters: They can marry anyone they want as long as they marry within a family that belongs to their father's tribe.
Se poutèt sa, men lòd Seyè a bay: Pitit fi Zelochad yo lib marye moun yo vle, depi se yon moun ki nan menm branch fanmi ak yo.
7 No land allocation in Israel may be passed from tribe to tribe, because every Israelite is to hold onto the allocation of his father's tribe.
Pòsyon tè yon branch fanmi pa gen dwa pase pou yon lòt branch fanmi. Konsa, pòsyon tè yon fanmi va toujou rete nan fanmi an.
8 Every daughter who possesses an inheritance from any Israelite tribe must marry within a clan of the tribe of her father, so that every Israelite will possess the inheritance of his fathers.
Si yon fi vin eritye yon pòsyon nan tè yonn nan branch fanmi pèp Izrayèl la, se pou l' marye ak yon moun ki nan menm branch fanmi avè l'. Konsa, chak moun va kenbe eritaj zansèt yo nan fanmi an.
9 No land allocation may be passed from one tribe to another, for each Israelite tribe must hold onto its own allocation.”
Tè yon branch fanmi p'ap ka pase pou yon lòt branch fanmi. Konsa, pòsyon tè ki pou yon fanmi va toujou rete nan fanmi an.
10 Zelophehad's daughters followed the Lord's orders through Moses.
Se konsa, pitit fi Zelochad yo fè jan Seyè a te bay Moyiz lòd la.
11 Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah, Zelophehad's daughters, married cousins on their father's side.
Mala, Tiza, Ogla, Milka ak Noa marye ak pitit gason tonton yo bò papa.
12 They married within the families of the descendants of Manasseh, son of Joseph, and their land allocation stayed within their father's tribe.
Yo marye nan branch fanmi Manase, pitit Jozèf la. Konsa, pòsyon tè papa yo a rete nan menm branch fanmi an.
13 These are the orders and regulations that the Lord gave the Israelites through Moses on the plains of Moab beside the Jordan opposite Jericho.
Men tout lòd ak regleman Seyè a te bay Moyiz pou moun pèp Izrayèl yo, lè yo te nan plenn Moab yo, lòt bò larivyè Jouden, anfas lavil Jeriko.
