< Numbers 32 >

1 The tribes of Reuben and Gad had large numbers of livestock and saw that the land of Jazer and Gilead was a good place to rear them.
Àwọn ọmọ Reubeni àti àwọn ọmọ Gadi, tí wọ́n ní ẹran ọ̀sìn àti ohun ọ̀sìn rí wí pé ilẹ̀ Jaseri àti Gileadi dára fún ohun ọ̀sìn.
2 So they came to Moses, Eleazar the priest, and the Israelite leaders and said,
Àwọn ọmọ Gadi àti àwọn ọmọ Reubeni sì wá, wọ́n wá sí ọ̀dọ̀ Mose àti Eleasari àlùfáà àti sí olórí gbogbo ìlú, wọ́n sì wí pé,
3 “The towns of Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon,
“Atarotu, Diboni, Jaseri, Nimra, Heṣboni, Eleale, Sebamu, Nebo, àti Beoni.
4 which the Lord conquered in full view of the Israelites, are well-suited for the livestock that we your servants own.”
Ni ilẹ̀ tí Olúwa ti ṣẹ́gun níwájú ìjọ Israẹli tí ó sì dára fún ohun ọ̀sìn, ṣáwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀ sì ní ohun ọ̀sìn.”
5 They continued, “Please respond to our request favorably: give us this land. Don't make us cross the Jordan.”
Wọ́n wí pé, “Tí a bá rí ojúrere rẹ, jẹ́ kí a fi ilẹ̀ yìí fún ìránṣẹ́ rẹ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìní. Má ṣe jẹ́ kí a rékọjá odò Jordani.”
6 In reply Moses asked the tribes of Gad and Reuben, “Are you expecting your brothers to go and fight while you just sit here?
Mose sọ fún àwọn ọmọ Gadi àti fún ọmọ Reubeni pé, “Ṣé kí àwọn arákùnrin yín lọ sí ogun, kí ẹ̀yin kí ó sì jókòó sí bí?
7 Why discourage the Israelites from crossing into the country that the Lord has given them?
Kí ni ó dé tí o fi mú ìrẹ̀wẹ̀sì bá àwọn ọmọ Israẹli láti lọ sí ibi ilẹ̀ tí Olúwa ti fi fún wọn?
8 This is just what your fathers did when I sent them out from Kadesh-barnea to explore the land.
Èyí ni nǹkan tí baba yín ṣe nígbà tí mo rán wọn láti Kadeṣi-Barnea láti lọ wo ilẹ̀ náà.
9 After your fathers traveled up the valley of Eshcol and explored the land, they discouraged the Israelites, persuading them not to enter the country that the Lord had given them.
Lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí wọ́n lọ sí àfonífojì Eṣkolu tí wọ́n rí ilẹ̀ náà, wọ́n mú ìrẹ̀wẹ̀sì bá àwọn ọmọ Israẹli láti wọ ilẹ̀ tí Olúwa ti fi fún wọn.
10 As a result, they made the Lord very angry that day, and he swore this oath,
Ìbínú Olúwa sì dìde sí wọn ní ọjọ́ náà, ó sì búra, wí pé,
11 ‘Not a single one of those I saved from Egypt who is twenty years old or older will ever see the land I promised with an oath to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, because they were not completely committed to me—
‘Nítorí wọn kò tẹ̀lé mi tọkàntọkàn, kì í ṣe ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ọkùnrin náà tí ó jẹ́ ogún ọdún tàbí jù bẹ́ẹ̀ lọ tí ó gòkè láti Ejibiti ni yóò rí ilẹ̀ tí mo pinnu gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìbúra fún Abrahamu, fún Isaaki àti fún Jakọbu:

kò sí ẹnìkankan àyàfi Kalebu ọmọ Jefunne ti Kenissiti àti Joṣua ọmọ Nuni, nítorí wọ́n tẹ̀lé Olúwa tọkàntọkàn.’
13 The Lord was angry with Israel, and made them wander around in the desert for forty years, until the whole generation who had done evil in his sight had died.
Ìbínú Olúwa ru sí àwọn ọmọ Israẹli ó sì mú wọn rìn ní aginjù fún ogójì ọdún, títí tí àwọn ìran tí wọ́n ṣe búburú ní ojú rẹ̀ fi lọ.
14 Now look at you, you brood of sinners who have come to take your fathers' place to make the Lord even angrier with Israel!
“Níbí ni ẹ̀yin wà, ẹ̀yin ẹlẹ́ṣẹ̀, ẹ̀yin dìde ní ipò baba yín, ẹ sì jẹ́ kí ìbínú gbígbóná Olúwa ru sí Israẹli.
15 If you give up following him, he will abandon these people in the desert once again, and their deaths will be your fault!”
Tí ẹ̀yin bá yípadà ní ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ yóò sì fi àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí sílẹ̀ ní aginjù, ìwọ yóò sì mú un ṣe ìparun.”
16 Then the tribes of Gad and Reuben came to Moses and told him, “We would plan to build stone walls to keep our livestock safe and towns for our children.
Nígbà náà wọ́n wá sí òkè ní ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀, “Àwa yóò fẹ́ láti kọ́ ilé ẹran níhìn-ín yìí fún ohun ọ̀sìn wa, àti ìlú fún àwọn obìnrin àti ọmọ wẹ́wẹ́ wa.
17 But we will still get ourselves ready for battle, and we will be prepared to lead the Israelites until they can safely occupy their land. In the meantime, our children will stay behind, living in the fortified towns to protect them from the local people.
Ṣùgbọ́n àwa ṣetán láti dira ogun ṣáájú àwọn ọmọ Israẹli títí tí a yóò fi mú wọn dé ọ̀dọ̀ wọn lákokò yìí, àwọn obìnrin àti ọmọ wẹ́wẹ́ wa yóò gbé inú ìlú tí a mọ odi sí fún ìdáàbòbò wọn lọ́wọ́ olùgbé ilẹ̀ náà.
18 We won't return to our homes until every Israelite is in possession of their allotted land.
A kì yóò padà sí ilẹ̀ wa láìṣe pé gbogbo àwọn ọmọ Israẹli ti gba ogún wọn.
19 However, we won't own any land on the other side of the Jordan because we've received this land to own on this eastern side of the Jordan.”
A kì yóò gba ogún kankan pẹ̀lú wọn ní òdìkejì Jordani, nítorí ogún ti wa, ti wá sí ọ̀dọ̀ wa ní ìhà ìlà-oòrùn Jordani.”
20 Moses responded, “If this is what you will actually do, if you will get yourselves ready for battle under the Lord's direction,
Nígbà náà ni Mose sọ fún wọn pé, “Tí ẹ̀yin yóò bá pa ara yín lára, níwájú Olúwa fún ogún.
21 and if all your troops cross the Jordan with the Lord until he has driven out his enemies ahead of him,
Bí gbogbo yín yóò bá lọ sí Jordani ní ìhámọ́ra níwájú Olúwa, títí yóò fi lé àwọn ọ̀tá rẹ̀ kúrò níwájú rẹ̀.
22 then once the country is conquered with the Lord's help then you may return, and you will have fulfilled your obligations to the Lord and to Israel. You will own this land, granted to you by the Lord.
Tí a ó sì fi ṣe ilẹ̀ náà níwájú Olúwa; ẹ̀yin lè padà tí yóò sì di òmìnira lọ́wọ́ ìdè níwájú Olúwa àti Israẹli. Ilẹ̀ yìí yóò sì jẹ́ tiyín níwájú Olúwa.
23 But if you fail to do this, you will clearly be sinning against the Lord, and the consequences of your sin will catch up with you.
“Ṣùgbọ́n tí ẹ̀yin bá kọ̀ láti ṣe èyí, ẹ̀yin yóò máa dẹ́ṣẹ̀ sí Olúwa; kí ẹ̀yin kí ó sì mọ̀ dájú pé ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ yín yóò fi yín hàn.

Ẹ kọ́ ilé fún àwọn obìnrin yín àti ọmọ wẹ́wẹ́ yín, àti ilé fún agbo ẹran yín, ṣùgbọ́n kí ẹ̀yin kí ó ṣe ohun tí ẹ ti pinnu.”
25 The tribes of Gad and Reuben promised Moses, “Sir, we your servants will do just as you have ordered.
Àwọn ọmọ Gadi àti ọmọ Reubeni sọ fún Mose pé, “Àwa ìránṣẹ́ rẹ yóò ṣe gẹ́gẹ́ bí olúwa wa ti pàṣẹ.
26 Our wives and children, our livestock and all our animals, will all remain here in the towns of Gilead.
Àwọn ọmọ wa àti ìyàwó wa, àwọn agbo ẹran àti ohun ọ̀sìn wa yóò dúró ní ìlú Gileadi.
27 But we your servants are ready for battle, and all our troops will cross over to fight with the Lord's help, just as you have said, sir.”
Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ, gbogbo ọkùnrin tí ó wọ ìhámọ́ra ogun, yóò rékọjá lọ láti jà níwájú Olúwa; gẹ́gẹ́ bí olúwa wa ti sọ.”
28 Moses gave the following instructions about them to Eleazar the priest, to Joshua, son of Nun, and to the family leaders of the tribes of Israel.
Nígbà náà ni Mose pàṣẹ nípa wọn fún Eleasari àlùfáà àti Joṣua ọmọ Nuni àti sí gbogbo olórí ìdílé ẹ̀yà Israẹli.
29 Moses told them, “If the tribes of Gadites and Reuben cross the Jordan with you, with all their troops ready for battle with the Lord's help, and the land is conquered as you advance, then give them the land of Gilead to own.
Mose sì wí fún wọn pé, “Tí àwọn ọmọ Gadi àti ọmọ Reubeni, gbogbo ọkùnrin tí ó wọ ìhámọ́ra fún ogun rékọjá odò Jordani pẹ̀lú níwájú Olúwa, nígbà tí ẹ ṣẹ́gun ilẹ̀ náà níwájú yín, fún wọn ní ilẹ̀ Gileadi gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìní wọn.
30 But if they don't get themselves ready for battle and cross over with you, then they must accept their allotted land among you in the country of Canaan.”
Ṣùgbọ́n tí wọn kò bá fẹ́ bá yín rékọjá pẹ̀lú ìhámọ́ra, wọn gbọdọ̀ gba ìní wọn pẹ̀lú yín ní Kenaani.”
31 The tribes of Gad and Reuben responded, “We will do just as the Lord has told us, your servants.
Àwọn ọmọ Gadi àti ọmọ Reubeni dáhùn pé, “Ìránṣẹ́ rẹ yóò ṣe ohun tí Olúwa ti sọ.
32 We will cross over and enter the country of Canaan ready for battle with the Lord's help, so that we may have our allotted share of land on this side of the Jordan.”
A máa rékọjá níwájú Olúwa lọ sí Kenaani pẹ̀lú ìhámọ́ra, ṣùgbọ́n ẹrù tí a jogún yóò wà ní ẹ̀bá Jordani.”
33 So Moses gave to the tribes of Gad and Reubenites and the half-tribe of Manasseh, son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon, king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og, king of Bashan. This land included its towns and their surrounding area.
Nígbà náà Mose fún àwọn ọmọ Gadi àti àwọn ọmọ Reubeni àti ààbọ̀ ẹ̀yà Manase ọmọ Josẹfu ní ilẹ̀ ọba Sihoni ọba àwọn ọmọ Amori àti ilẹ̀ ọba Ogu ọba Baṣani ní gbogbo ilẹ̀ náà pẹ̀lú ìlú rẹ̀ àti agbègbè tí ó yí i ka.
34 The people of Gad rebuilt Dibon, Ataroth, Aroer,
Àwọn ará Gadi wọ́n kọ́ Diboni, Atarotu, Aroeri;
35 Atroth-shophan, Jazer, Jogbehah,
pẹ̀lú Atrotu Ṣofani, Jaseri, àti Jogbeha,

pẹ̀lú Beti-Nimra, àti Beti-Harani ìlú olódi, àti agbo fún àgùntàn.
37 The people of Reuben rebuilt Heshbon, Elealeh, Kiriathaim,
Àwọn ọmọ Reubeni sì kọ́ Heṣboni, Eleale, Kiriataimu,
38 as well as Nebo and Baal-meon (changing their names), and Sibmah. In fact they renamed those towns they rebuilt.
pẹ̀lú Nebo pẹ̀lú Baali-Meoni (wọ́n pàrọ̀ orúkọ wọn) àti Sibma. Wọ́n sì sọ ìlú tí wọ́n tún kọ́ ní orúkọ mìíràn.
39 The descendants of Machir, son of Manasseh, attacked Gilead and captured it. They drove out the Amorites who were living there.
Àwọn ọmọ Makiri ọmọ Manase lọ sí Gileadi, wọ́n sì lé àwọn ọmọ Amori tí ó wà níbẹ̀.
40 So Moses gave Gilead to the family of Machir, son of Manasseh, and they settled there.
Mose sì fi àwọn ọmọ Gileadi fún àwọn ọmọ Makiri àwọn ìran Manase, wọ́n sì tẹ̀dó síbẹ̀.
41 Jair, a descendant of Manasseh, attacked their villages and captured them. He named them the Villages of Jair.
Jairi, ọmọ Manase gba ibùjókòó wọn, ó sì pè wọ́n ní Haffotu Jairi.
42 Nobah attacked Kenath and captured it, along with its villages. He named it Nobah after himself.
Noba gba Kenati àti àwọn ìtẹ̀dó rẹ̀, ó sì pè é ní Noba lẹ́yìn orúkọ ara rẹ̀.
