Numbers 32
1 The tribes of Reuben and Gad had large numbers of livestock and saw that the land of Jazer and Gilead was a good place to rear them.
১রূবেণ সন্তানদের ও গাদ সন্তানদের অনেক পশুধন ছিল; তারা যাসের দেশ ও গিলিয়দ দেশ পর্যবেক্ষণ করল, আর দেখ, সে স্থান পশুপালনের স্থান।
2 So they came to Moses, Eleazar the priest, and the Israelite leaders and said,
২পরে গাদ সন্তানরা ও রূবেণ সন্তানরা এসে মোশিকে, ইলীয়াসর যাজককে ও মণ্ডলীর শাসনকর্তাদেরকে বলল,
3 “The towns of Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon,
৩“অটারোৎ, দীবোন, যাসের নিম্রা, হিষ্বোন, ইলিয়ালী, সেবাম, নবো ও বিয়োন,
4 which the Lord conquered in full view of the Israelites, are well-suited for the livestock that we your servants own.”
৪এই যে দেশকে সদাপ্রভু ইস্রায়েল মণ্ডলীর সামনে আঘাত করেছেন, এটা পশুপালনের উপযুক্ত দেশ, আর আপনার এই দাসেদের পশু আছে।”
5 They continued, “Please respond to our request favorably: give us this land. Don't make us cross the Jordan.”
৫তারা আরও বলল, “আমরা যদি আপনার দৃষ্টিতে অনুগ্রহ পেয়ে থাকি, তবে আপনার দাসেদের অধিকারের জন্য এই দেশ দিতে আদেশ করুন, আমাদেরকে যর্দ্দনের পারে নিয়ে যাবেন না।”
6 In reply Moses asked the tribes of Gad and Reuben, “Are you expecting your brothers to go and fight while you just sit here?
৬তখন মোশি গাদ সন্তানদের ও রূবেণ সন্তানদের বললেন, “তোমাদের ভাইয়েরা যুদ্ধ করতে যাবে, আর তোমরা কি এই স্থানে বসে থাকবে?
7 Why discourage the Israelites from crossing into the country that the Lord has given them?
৭সদাপ্রভুর দেওয়া দেশ পার হয়ে যেতে ইস্রায়েল সন্তানদের মন কেন নিরাশ করছ?
8 This is just what your fathers did when I sent them out from Kadesh-barnea to explore the land.
৮তোমাদের বাবারা, যখন আমি দেশ দেখতে কাদেশ বর্ণেয় থেকে তাদেরকে পাঠিয়েছিলাম, তখন তাই করেছিল;
9 After your fathers traveled up the valley of Eshcol and explored the land, they discouraged the Israelites, persuading them not to enter the country that the Lord had given them.
৯তারা ইষ্কোলের উপত্যকা পর্যন্ত গমন করে দেশ দেখে সদাপ্রভুর দেওয়া দেশে যেতে ইস্রায়েল সন্তানদের মন নিরাশ করেছিল।
10 As a result, they made the Lord very angry that day, and he swore this oath,
১০সেই দিন সদাপ্রভু প্রচণ্ড রেগে গিয়ে শপথ করে বলেছিলেন,
11 ‘Not a single one of those I saved from Egypt who is twenty years old or older will ever see the land I promised with an oath to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, because they were not completely committed to me—
১১‘আমি অব্রাহামকে, ইসহাককে ও যাকোবকে যে দেশ দিতে দিব্যি করেছি, মিশর থেকে আসা পুরুষদের মধ্যে কুড়ি বছর ও তার থেকে বয়সী কেউই সেই দেশ দেখতে পাবে না; কারণ তারা সম্পূর্ণ ভাবে আমাকে মেনে চলে নি;
12 no one except Caleb, son of Jephunneh, the Kenizzite, and Joshua, son of Nun, because they were completely committed to me.’
১২শুধু কনিসীয় যিফুন্নির ছেলে কালেব ও নূনের ছেলে যিহোশূয় তা দেখবে, কারণ তারাই সম্পূর্ণ ভাবে সদাপ্রভুর অনুগত হয়েছে’।
13 The Lord was angry with Israel, and made them wander around in the desert for forty years, until the whole generation who had done evil in his sight had died.
১৩তখন ইস্রায়েলের প্রতি সদাপ্রভুর রাগ জ্বলে উঠলো, আর তিনি চল্লিশ বছর পর্যন্ত, সদাপ্রভুর দৃষ্টিতে খারাপ কাজ করা সমস্ত লোকের শেষ না হওয়া পর্যন্ত, তাদেরকে মরুপ্রান্তে ভ্রমণ করালেন।
14 Now look at you, you brood of sinners who have come to take your fathers' place to make the Lord even angrier with Israel!
১৪আর দেখ, ইস্রায়েলের বিরুদ্ধে সদাপ্রভুর ভয়ানক রাগ আরও বেড়ে যাওয়ার জন্য, পাপী লোকেদের বংশ যে তোমরা, তোমরা তোমাদের বাবার জায়গায় উঠেছ।
15 If you give up following him, he will abandon these people in the desert once again, and their deaths will be your fault!”
১৫কারণ যদি তোমরা তাঁর অনুসরণ না করে ফিরে যাও, তবে তিনি পুনরায় ইস্রায়েলকে মরুপ্রান্তে পরিত্যাগ করবেন, তাতে তোমরা এইসব লোককে বিনষ্ট করবে।”
16 Then the tribes of Gad and Reuben came to Moses and told him, “We would plan to build stone walls to keep our livestock safe and towns for our children.
১৬তখন তারা তাঁর কাছে এসে বলল, “আমরা এই স্থানে আমাদের পশুদের জন্য মেষবাথান ও আমাদের বালকবালিকাদের জন্য শহর তৈরী করব।
17 But we will still get ourselves ready for battle, and we will be prepared to lead the Israelites until they can safely occupy their land. In the meantime, our children will stay behind, living in the fortified towns to protect them from the local people.
১৭আমরা যতদিন ইস্রায়েল সন্তানদের নিজের তৈরী না করি, ততদিন সজ্জিত হয়ে তাদের আগে আগে গমন করব; শুধু আমাদের বালকবালিকারা দেশে বসবাসীদের ভয়ে সুরক্ষিত শহরে বাস করবে।
18 We won't return to our homes until every Israelite is in possession of their allotted land.
১৮ইস্রায়েল সন্তানরা প্রত্যেকে যতক্ষণ নিজেদের অধিকার না পায়, ততক্ষণ আমরা নিজেদের পরিবারের কাছে ফিরে আসব না।
19 However, we won't own any land on the other side of the Jordan because we've received this land to own on this eastern side of the Jordan.”
১৯কিন্তু আমরা যর্দ্দনের অন্য পারে তাদের সঙ্গে অধিকার নেব না, কারণ যর্দ্দনের এই পূর্বপারে আমরা অধিকার পেয়েছি।”
20 Moses responded, “If this is what you will actually do, if you will get yourselves ready for battle under the Lord's direction,
২০মোশি তাদেরকে বললেন, “তোমরা যদি এই কাজ কর, যদি সজ্জিত হয়ে সদাপ্রভুর সামনে যুদ্ধ করতে যাও
21 and if all your troops cross the Jordan with the Lord until he has driven out his enemies ahead of him,
২১এবং তিনি যতদিন তাঁর শত্রুদেরকে নিজের কাছ থেকে অধিকারচ্যুত না করেন, ততদিন যদি তোমরা প্রত্যেকে সজ্জিত হয়ে সদাপ্রভুর সামনে যর্দ্দন পার হও
22 then once the country is conquered with the Lord's help then you may return, and you will have fulfilled your obligations to the Lord and to Israel. You will own this land, granted to you by the Lord.
২২এবং দেশ সদাপ্রভুর বশীভূত হয়, তখন তোমরা ফিরে আসবে এবং সদাপ্রভুর ও ইস্রায়েলের কাছে নির্দোষ হবে, আর সদাপ্রভুর সামনে তোমরা এই দেশের অধিকারী হবে।
23 But if you fail to do this, you will clearly be sinning against the Lord, and the consequences of your sin will catch up with you.
২৩কিন্তু যদি তেমন না কর, তবে দেখ, তোমরা সদাপ্রভুর কাছে পাপ করলে এবং নিশ্চয় জেনো, তোমাদের পাপ তোমাদেরকে ধরবে।
24 Go ahead and build towns for your children and stone walls for your flocks, but make sure you do what you've promised!”
২৪তোমরা নিজেদের বালকবালিকাদের জন্য শহর ও ভেড়াদের জন্য বাথান তৈরী কর এবং নিজেদের কথামত কাজ কর।”
25 The tribes of Gad and Reuben promised Moses, “Sir, we your servants will do just as you have ordered.
২৫তখন গাদ সন্তানরা ও রূবেণ সন্তানরা মোশিকে বলল, “আমাদের প্রভু যে আদেশ করলেন, আপনার দাস আমরা তাই করব।
26 Our wives and children, our livestock and all our animals, will all remain here in the towns of Gilead.
২৬আমাদের বালকবালিকারা, আমাদের স্ত্রীলোকেরা, আমাদের পালগুলি ও আমাদের সমস্ত পশুধন এখানে গিলিয়দের শহরগুলিতে থাকবে।
27 But we your servants are ready for battle, and all our troops will cross over to fight with the Lord's help, just as you have said, sir.”
২৭আর আমাদের প্রভুর বাক্য অনুসারে আপনার এই দাসেরা, সজ্জিত প্রত্যেক জন যুদ্ধ করতে সদাপ্রভুকে পার হয়ে যাবে।”
28 Moses gave the following instructions about them to Eleazar the priest, to Joshua, son of Nun, and to the family leaders of the tribes of Israel.
২৮তখন মোশি তাদের বিষয়ে ইলীয়াসর যাজককে, নূনের ছেলে যিহোশূয়কে ও ইস্রায়েল সন্তানদের বংশগুলির পূর্বপুরুষদের নেতাকে আদেশ করলেন।
29 Moses told them, “If the tribes of Gadites and Reuben cross the Jordan with you, with all their troops ready for battle with the Lord's help, and the land is conquered as you advance, then give them the land of Gilead to own.
২৯মোশি তাদেরকে বললেন, “গাদ সন্তানরা ও রূবেণ সন্তানরা, যুদ্ধের জন্য সজ্জিত প্রত্যেক জন যদি তোমাদের সঙ্গে সদাপ্রভুর সামনে যর্দ্দন পার হয়, তবে তোমাদের সামনে দেশ বশীভূত হওয়ার পর তোমরা অধিকারের জন্য তাদেরকে গিলিয়দ দেশ দেবে।
30 But if they don't get themselves ready for battle and cross over with you, then they must accept their allotted land among you in the country of Canaan.”
৩০কিন্তু যদি তারা সজ্জিত হয়ে তোমাদের সঙ্গে পার না হয়, তবে তারা তোমাদের মধ্যে কনান দেশের অধিকার পাবে।”
31 The tribes of Gad and Reuben responded, “We will do just as the Lord has told us, your servants.
৩১পরে গাদ সন্তানরা ও রূবেণ সন্তানরা উত্তর দিল, “সদাপ্রভু আপনার এই দাসদেরকে যা বলেছেন, আমরা তাই করব।
32 We will cross over and enter the country of Canaan ready for battle with the Lord's help, so that we may have our allotted share of land on this side of the Jordan.”
৩২আমরা সজ্জিত হয়ে সদাপ্রভুর সামনে পার হয়ে কনান দেশে যাব; আর যর্দ্দনের পূর্বপারে আমাদের অধিকার নির্দিষ্ট হয়ে রইল।”
33 So Moses gave to the tribes of Gad and Reubenites and the half-tribe of Manasseh, son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon, king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og, king of Bashan. This land included its towns and their surrounding area.
৩৩পরে মোশি তাদেরকে, অর্থাৎ গাদ সন্তানদের, রূবেণ সন্তানদের ও যোষেফের ছেলে মনঃশির অর্ধেক বংশকে ইমোরীয়দের রাজা সীহোনের রাজ্য ও বাশনের রাজা ওগের রাজ্য, সেই দেশ, পরিসীমা সমেত সেখানকার শহরগুলি অর্থাৎ দেশের চারদিকের শহরগুলি দিলেন।
34 The people of Gad rebuilt Dibon, Ataroth, Aroer,
৩৪গাদ সন্তানরা দীবোন, অটারোৎ, অরোয়ের,
35 Atroth-shophan, Jazer, Jogbehah,
৩৫অটরোত শোফন, যাসের, যগবিহ,
36 Beth-nimrah, and Beth-haran as fortified towns, and they built stone walls for their flocks.
৩৬বৈৎ-নিম্রা ও বৈৎ-হারণ, এইসব দেওয়ালে ঘেরা শহর ও মেষবাথান তৈরী করল।
37 The people of Reuben rebuilt Heshbon, Elealeh, Kiriathaim,
৩৭রূবেন সন্তানরা হিষবোন, ইলিয়ালী ও কিরিয়াথয়িম
38 as well as Nebo and Baal-meon (changing their names), and Sibmah. In fact they renamed those towns they rebuilt.
৩৮নবো ও বাল্-মিয়োন (তাদের নাম পরে পরিবর্তন হয়েছে) এবং সিবমা এইসব শহর তৈরী করে অন্য নাম রাখল।
39 The descendants of Machir, son of Manasseh, attacked Gilead and captured it. They drove out the Amorites who were living there.
৩৯মনঃশির ছেলে মাখীরের সন্তানরা গিলিয়দে গিয়ে তা দখল করল এবং সেই স্থানে বসবাসকারী ইমোরীয়দেরকে অধিকারচ্যুত করল।
40 So Moses gave Gilead to the family of Machir, son of Manasseh, and they settled there.
৪০তখন মোশি মনঃশির ছেলে মাখীরকে গিলিয়দ দিলেন এবং সে সেখানে বাস করল।
41 Jair, a descendant of Manasseh, attacked their villages and captured them. He named them the Villages of Jair.
৪১মনঃশির সন্তান যায়ীর গিয়ে সেখানকার গ্রামগুলি দখল করল এবং তাদের নাম হব্বোৎ-যায়ীর [যায়ীরের গ্রামগুলি] রাখল।
42 Nobah attacked Kenath and captured it, along with its villages. He named it Nobah after himself.
৪২নোবহ গিয়ে কনাৎ ও তার গ্রামগুলি দখল করল এবং নিজের নাম অনুসারে তার নাম নোবহ রাখল।
