Numbers 13
1 The Lord told Moses,
യഹോവ പിന്നെയും മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു:
2 “Send some men to explore the land of Canaan, the country I'm giving to the Israelites. Choose one of the leaders from each of the tribes to go and do this.”
യിസ്രായേൽമക്കൾക്കു ഞാൻ കൊടുപ്പാനിരിക്കുന്ന കനാൻദേശം ഒറ്റുനോക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ആളുകളെ അയക്ക; അതതു ഗോത്രത്തിൽനിന്നു ഓരോ ആളെ അയക്കേണം; അവരെല്ലാവരും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരായിരിക്കേണം.
3 Moses did as the Lord had ordered and sent the men out from the Desert of Paran. They were all leaders of the Israelites.
അങ്ങനെ മോശെ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനപ്രകാരം പാരാൻമരുഭൂമിയിൽനിന്നു അവരെ അയച്ചു; ആ പുരുഷന്മാർ ഒക്കെയും യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളിൽ തലവന്മാർ ആയിരുന്നു.
4 Their names were: Shammua son of Zaccur, from the tribe of Reuben.
അവരുടെ പേർ ആവിതു: രൂബേൻ ഗോത്രത്തിൽ സക്കൂറിന്റെ മകൻ ശമ്മൂവ.
5 Shaphat, son of Hori, from the tribe of Simeon.
ശിമേയോൻ ഗോത്രത്തിൽ ഹോരിയുടെ മകൻ ശഫാത്ത്.
6 Caleb, son of Jephunneh, from the tribe of Judah.
യെഹൂദാഗോത്രത്തിൽ യെഫുന്നയുടെ മകൻ കാലേബ്.
7 Igal, son of Joseph, from the tribe of Issachar.
യിസ്സാഖാർഗോത്രത്തിൽ യോസേഫിന്റെ മകൻ ഈഗാൽ.
8 Hoshea, son of Nun, from the tribe of Ephraim.
എഫ്രയീംഗോത്രത്തിൽ നൂന്റെ മകൻ ഹോശേയ.
9 Palti son of Raphu, from the tribe of Benjamin.

10 Gaddiel, son of Sodi, from the tribe of Zebulun.

11 Gaddi, son of Susi, from the tribe of Manasseh (a tribe of Joseph).

12 Ammiel, son of Gemalli, from the tribe of Dan.

13 Sethur, son of Michael, from the tribe of Asher.
ആശേർഗോത്രത്തിൽ മിഖായേലിന്റെ മകൻ സെഥൂർ.
14 Nahbi, son of Vophsi, from the tribe of Naphtali.
നഫ്താലിഗോത്രത്തിൽ വൊപ്സിയുടെ മകൻ നഹ്ബി.
15 Geuel, son of Machi, from the tribe of Gad.
ഗാദ്ഗോത്രത്തിൽ മാഖിയുടെ മകൻ ഗയൂവേൽ.
16 These were the names of the men that Moses sent to explore the country. Moses called Hoshea Joshua.
ദേശം ഒറ്റുനോക്കുവാൻ മോശെ അയച്ച പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ പേർ ഇവ തന്നേ. എന്നാൽ മോശെ നൂന്റെ മകനായ ഹോശേയെക്കു യോശുവ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.
17 Moses sent them out to explore the land of Canaan, telling them, “Go through the Negev and on into the hill country.
മോശെ കനാൻദേശം ഒറ്റുനോക്കുവാൻ അവരെ അയച്ചു അവരോടു: നിങ്ങൾ ഈ വഴി തെക്കെ ദേശത്തു ചെന്നു മലയിൽ കയറി:
18 See what the place looks like, and find out about the people living there—are they strong or weak? Are there many of them or only a few?
ദേശം ഏതുവിധമുള്ളതു, അതിൽ കുടിയിരിക്കുന്ന ജനം ബലവാന്മാരോ ബലഹീനരോ, ചുരുക്കമോ അധികമോ;
19 Is the land where they're living good or bad? Are their towns like open camps, or do they have defensive walls?
അവർ പാൎക്കുന്ന ദേശം നല്ലതോ ആകാത്തതോ, അവർ വസിക്കുന്ന പട്ടണങ്ങൾ പാളയങ്ങളോ കോട്ടകളോ,
20 Is the soil productive or not? Is it forested? Be brave, and bring back some of the country's fruit.” (It was the beginning of the grape harvest.)
ദേശം പുഷ്ടിയുള്ളതോ പുഷ്ടിയില്ലാത്തതോ, അതിൽ വൃക്ഷം ഉണ്ടോ ഇല്ലയോ എന്നിങ്ങനെ നോക്കിയറിവിൻ; നിങ്ങൾ ധൈൎയ്യപ്പെട്ടു ദേശത്തിലെ ഫലങ്ങളും കൊണ്ടുവരുവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതു മുന്തിരിങ്ങ പഴുത്തു തുടങ്ങുന്ന കാലം ആയിരുന്നു.
21 So the men went and explored the land all the way from the Desert of Zin to Rehob, bear Lebo-hamath.
അങ്ങനെ അവർ കയറിപ്പോയി, സീൻമരുഭൂമിമുതൽ ഹാമാത്തിന്നുപോകുന്ന വഴിയായി രഹോബ് വരെ ദേശത്തെ ശോധനചെയ്തു.
22 They went through the Negev and arrived in Hebron where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the descendants of Anak, lived. This town was built seven years before the Egyptian town of Zoan.
അവർ തെക്കെദേശത്തുകൂടി ചെന്നു ഹെബ്രോനിൽ എത്തി; അവിടെ അനാക്കിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരായ അഹീമാനും ശേശായിയും തൽമായിയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഹെബ്രോൻ മിസ്രയീമിലെ സോവാരിന്നു ഏഴു സംവത്സരം മുമ്പെ പണിതതായിരുന്നു.
23 When they arrived at the Valley of Eshcol they chopped down a branch that had just one bunch of grapes. They had to carry it on a pole held between two men. They also collected some pomegranates and figs.
അവർ എസ്കോൽതാഴ്വരയോളം ചെന്നു അവിടെനിന്നു ഒരു മുന്തിരിവള്ളി കുലയോടെ പറിച്ചെടുത്തു ഒരു തണ്ടിന്മേൽ കെട്ടി രണ്ടുപേർകൂടി ചുമന്നു; അവർ മാതളപ്പഴവും അത്തിപ്പഴവും കൂടെ കൊണ്ടുപോന്നു.
24 (The place was named the Valley of Eshcol because of the bunch of grapes they took from there.)
യിസ്രായേൽമക്കൾ അവിടെനിന്നു മുറിച്ചെടുത്ത മുന്തിരിക്കുലനിമിത്തം ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു എസ്കോൽതാഴ്വര എന്നു പേരായി.
25 Forty days later the men returned from exploring the country.
അവർ നാല്പതു ദിവസംകൊണ്ടു ദേശം ഒറ്റുനോക്കിക്കഴിഞ്ഞു മടങ്ങിവന്നു.
26 They went to see Moses and Aaron, and all the Israelites gathered there at their camp in Kadesh in the Desert of Paran. They gave a report before everyone and showed them the fruit they had brought back from the country.
അവർ യാത്രചെയ്തു പാറാൻമരുഭൂമിയിലെ കാദേശിൽ മോശെയുടെയും അഹരോന്റെയും യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ സൎവ്വസഭയുടെയും അടുക്കൽ വന്നു അവരോടും സൎവ്വസഭയോടും വൎത്തമാനം അറിയിച്ചു; ദേശത്തിലെ ഫലങ്ങളും അവരെ കാണിച്ചു.
27 This is the report they gave to Moses: “We went and explored the country you sent us to, and it is definitely very productive, as if it was flowing with milk and honey. Just look at some of its fruit!
അവർ അവനോടു വിവരിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ: നീ ഞങ്ങളെ അയച്ച ദേശത്തേക്കു ഞങ്ങൾ പോയി; അതു പാലും തേനും ഒഴുകുന്ന ദേശം തന്നേ; അതിലെ ഫലങ്ങൾ ഇതാ.
28 But the people living there are strong, and their towns are big and have defensive walls. We also saw some descendants of Anak there.
എങ്കിലും ദേശത്തു പാൎക്കുന്ന ജനങ്ങൾ ബലവാന്മാരും പട്ടണങ്ങൾ ഏറ്റവും ഉറപ്പും വലിപ്പവും ഉള്ളവയും ആകുന്നു. ഞങ്ങൾ അനാക്കിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെയും അവിടെ കണ്ടു.
29 The Amalekites live in the Negev. The Hittites, Jebusites, and the Amorites live in the hill country. The Canaanites live on the sea coast and also beside the Jordan.”
അമാലേക്യർ തെക്കെ ദേശത്തു പാൎക്കുന്നു; ഹിത്യരും യെബൂസ്യരും അമോൎയ്യരും പൎവ്വതങ്ങളിൽ പാൎക്കുന്നു; കനാന്യർ കടൽക്കരയിലും യോൎദ്ദാൻനദീതീരത്തും പാൎക്കുന്നു.
30 Then Caleb asked for quiet as the people stood before Moses and told them, “Let's go and take over the land. We can conquer the country, no doubt about it!”
എന്നാൽ കാലേബ് മോശെയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ ജനത്തെ അമൎത്തി: നാം ചെന്നു അതു കൈവശമാക്കുക; അതു ജയിപ്പാൻ നമുക്കു കഴിയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
31 But the men who had gone with him disagreed. “We can't go and fight these people! They're much stronger than us!”
എങ്കിലും അവനോടുകൂടെ പോയിരുന്ന പുരുഷന്മാർ: ആ ജനത്തിന്റെ നേരെ ചെല്ലുവാൻ നമുക്കു കഴികയില്ല; അവർ നമ്മിലും ബലവാന്മാർ ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
32 They spread a negative report among the Israelites about the country they had explored. They told people, “The country we explored destroys the people that live there. Plus everyone we saw was really big!
തങ്ങൾ ഒറ്റുനോക്കിയ ദേശത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അവർ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളോടു ദുൎവ്വൎത്തമാനമായി പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ: ഞങ്ങൾ സഞ്ചരിച്ചു ഒറ്റുനോക്കിയ ദേശം നിവാസികളെ തിന്നുകളയുന്ന ദേശം ആകുന്നു; ഞങ്ങൾ അവിടെ കണ്ട ജനം ഒക്കെയും അതികായന്മാർ;
33 We even saw giants there—people descended from Anak the giant! Compared to them we looked like grasshoppers, and we must have looked like that to them too!”
അവിടെ ഞങ്ങൾ മല്ലന്മാരുടെ സന്തികളായ അനാക്യമല്ലന്മാരെയും കണ്ടു; ഞങ്ങൾക്കു തന്നേ ഞങ്ങൾ വെട്ടുക്കിളികളെപ്പോലെ തോന്നി; അവരുടെ കാഴ്ചെക്കും ഞങ്ങൾ അങ്ങനെതന്നേ ആയിരുന്നു.
