Nehemiah 7

1 Once the wall had been rebuilt and I had put up the doors, I appointed the gatekeepers, singers, and Levites.

١ وَبَعْدَ أَنِ اكْتَمَلَ بِنَاءُ السُّورِ، وَأَقَمْتُ الْمَصَارِيعَ، وَتَمَّ تَعْيِينُ الْبَوَّابِينَ وَالْمُغَنِّينَ، وَاللّاوِيِّينَ،

2 I put my brother Hanani in charge of Jerusalem, together with Hananiah the commander of the fortress, because he was an honest man who respected God more than many others.

٢ عَهِدْتُ بِتَدْبِيرِ شُؤُونِ أُورُشَلِيمَ إِلَى أَخِي حَنَانِي، وَإِلَى حَنَنْيَا رَئِيسِ الْقَصْرِ، لأَنَّهُ كَانَ رَجُلاً أَمِيناً يَتَّقِي اللهَ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ سِوَاهُ.

3 I told them, “Don't allow the gates of Jerusalem to be opened until the sun is hot, and make sure the guards shut and bolt the doors while they're still on duty. Appoint some of the residents of Jerusalem as guards, to be at their posts, standing in front of their own houses.”

٣ وَقُلْتُ لَهُمَا: «لا تَسْمَحَا بِفَتْحِ أَبْوَابِ أُورُشَلِيمَ قَبْلَ اشْتِدَادِ حَرَارَةِ الشَّمْسِ، وَلْيَتِمَّ إِغْلاقُ مَصَارِيعِهَا وَأَقْفَالِهَا، وَحُرَّاسُ الأَبْوَابِ مَازَالُوا يَقُومُونَ بِنَوْبَةِ حِرَاسَتِهِمْ». وَعَيَّنْتُ حُرَّاساً مِنْ أَهْلِ أُورُشَلِيمَ، وَقَفَ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمْ مُقَابِلَ بَيْتِهِ.

4 In those times the city was large with plenty of space, but there weren't many people in it, and the houses hadn't been rebuilt.

٤ وَكَانَتِ الْمَدِينَةُ وَاسِعَةَ الأَرْجَاءِ وَعَظِيمَةً، وَلا يَقْطُنُهَا سِوَى شَعْبٍ قَلِيلٍ، لأَنَّ الْبُيُوتَ لَمْ يَكُنْ قَدْ أُعِيدَ بِنَاؤُهَا.

5 My God encouraged me to have everyone—the nobles, the officials, and the people—all come to be registered according to their family genealogy. I found the genealogical register of those who had returned first. This what I discovered written there.

٥ فَأَلْهَمَنِي إِلَهِي أَنْ أَجْمَعَ الأَشْرَافَ وَالْوُلاةَ وَالشَّعْبَ لِتَسْجِيلِ أَنْسَابِهِمْ حَسَبَ عَائِلاتِهِمْ، فَعَثَرْتُ عَلَى سِجِلِّ أَنْسَابِ الَّذِينَ جَاءُوا أَوَّلاً مِنَ السَّبْيِ، وَوَجَدْتُ مُدَوَّناً فِيهِ:

6 This is a list of the people of the province who returned from the captivity. These were the exiles who had been taken away to Babylon by King Nebuchadnezzar. They returned to Jerusalem and Judah, to their home towns.

٦ هَؤُلاءِ هُمْ أَبْنَاءُ الْبِلادِ الَّذِينَ رَجَعُوا مِنْ سَبْيِ نَبُوخَذْنَصَّرَ مَلِكِ بَابِلَ إِلَى أُورُشَلِيمَ وَيَهُوذَا، كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ إِلَى مَدِينَتِهِ:

7 They were led by Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, and Baanah. This is the number of men of the people of Israel:

٧ الَّذِينَ وَفَدُوا مَعَ زَرُبَّابِلَ وَيَشُوعَ وَنَحَمْيَا وَعَزَرْيَا وَرَعَمْيَا وَنَحْمَانِي وَمُرْدَخَايَ وَبِلْشَانَ وَمِسْفَارَثَ وَبِغْوَايَ وَنَحُومَ وَبَعْنَةَ. وَهَذَا بَيَانٌ بِعَدَدِ رِجَالِ شَعْبِ إِسْرَائِيلَ:

8 The sons of Parosh, 2,172;

٨ بَنُو فَرْعُوشَ: أَلْفَانِ وَمِئَةٌ وَاثْنَانِ وَسَبْعُونَ.

9 the sons of Shephatiah, 372;

٩ بَنُو شَفَطْيَا: ثَلاثُ مِئَةٍ وَاثْنَانِ وَسَبْعُونَ.

10 the sons of Arah, 652;

١٠ بَنُو آرَحَ: سِتُّ مِئَةٍ وَاثْنَانِ وَخَمْسُونَ.

11 the sons of Pahath-moab, (the sons of Jeshua and Joab), 2,818;

١١ بَنُو فَحَثَ مُوآبَ مِنْ نَسْلِ يَشُوعَ وَيُوآبَ: أَلْفَانِ وَثَمَانِي مِئَةٍ وَثَمَانِيَةَ عَشَرَ.

12 the sons of Elam, 1,254;

١٢ بَنُو عِيلامَ: أَلْفٌ وَمِئَتَانِ وَأَرْبَعَةٌ وَخَمْسُونَ.

13 The sons of Zattu, 845;

١٣ بَنُو زَتُّو: ثَمَانِي مِئَةٍ وَخَمْسَةٌ وَأَرْبَعُونَ.

14 the sons of Zaccai, 760;

١٤ بَنُو زَكَّايَ: سَبْعُ مِئَةٍ وَسِتُّونَ.

15 the sons of Binnui, 648;

١٥ بَنُو بَنُّوِي: سِتُّ مِئَةٍ وَثَمَانِيَةٌ وَأَرْبَعُونَ.

16 the sons of Bebai, 628;

١٦ بَنُو بَابَايَ: سِتُّ مِئَةٍ وَثَمَانِيَةٌ وَعِشْرُونَ.

17 the sons of Azgad, 2,322;

١٧ بَنُو عَزْجَدَ: أَلْفَانِ وَثَلاثُ مِئَةٍ وَاثْنَانِ وَعِشْرُونَ.

18 the sons of Adonikam, 667;

١٨ بَنُو أَدُونِيقَامَ: سِتُّ مِئَةٍ وَسَبْعَةٌ وَسِتُّونَ.

19 the sons of Bigvai, 2,067.

١٩ بَنُو بِغْوَايَ: أَلْفَانِ وَسَبْعَةٌ وَسِتُّونَ.

20 The sons of Adin, 655.

٢٠ بَنُو عَادِينَ: سِتُّ مِئَةٍ وَخَمْسَةٌ وَخَمْسُونَ.

21 The sons of Ater, (sons of Hezekiah), 98;

٢١ بَنُو أَطِّيرَ مِنْ نَسْلِ حَزَقِيَّا: ثَمَانِيَةٌ وَتِسْعُونَ.

22 the sons of Hashum, 328;

٢٢ بَنُو حَشُومَ: ثَلاثُ مِئَةٍ وَثَمَانِيَةٌ وَعِشْرُونَ.

23 the sons of Bezai, 324;

٢٣ بَنُو بِيصَايَ: ثَلاثُ مِئَةٍ وَأَرْبَعَةٌ وَعِشْرُونَ.

24 the sons of Hariph, 112;

٢٤ بَنُو حَارِيفَ: مِئَةٌ وَاثْنَا عَشَرَ.

25 the sons of Gibeon, 95;

٢٥ (وَقَدْ عَادَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمُدْنِ التَّالِيَةِ الَّتِي عَاشَ آبَاؤُهُمْ فِيهَا) مِنْ أَهْلِ جِبْعُونَ: خَمْسَةٌ وَتِسْعُونَ.

26 the people from Bethlehem and Netophah, 188;

٢٦ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِ لَحْمٍ وَنَطُوفَةَ: مِئَةٌ وَثَمَانِيَةٌ وَثَمَانُونَ.

27 the people from Anathoth, 128;

٢٧ مِنْ أَهْلِ عَنَاثُوثَ: مِئَةٌ وَثَمَانِيَةٌ وَعِشْرُونَ.

28 the people from Beth-azmaveth 42;

٢٨ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِ عَزْمُوتَ: اثْنَانِ وَأَرْبَعُونَ.

29 the people from Kiriath-jearim, Chephirah, and Beeroth, 743;

٢٩ مِنْ أَهْلِ قَرْيَةِ يَعَارِيمَ كَفِيرَةَ وَبَئِيرُوتَ: سَبْعُ مِئَةٍ وَثَلاثَةٌ وَأَرْبَعُونَ.

30 the people from Ramah and Geba, 621;

٣٠ مِنْ أَهْلِ الرَّامَةِ وَجَبَعَ: سِتُّ مِئَةٍ وَوَاحِدٌ وَعِشْرُونَ.

31 the people from Michmas, 122;

٣١ مِنْ أَهْلِ مِخْمَاسَ: مِئَةٌ وَاثْنَانِ وَعِشْرُونَ.

32 the people from Bethel and Ai, 123;

٣٢ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِ إِيلَ وَعَايَ: مِئَةٌ وَثَلاثَةٌ وَعِشْرُونَ.

33 the people from the other Nebo, 52;

٣٣ مِنْ أَهْلِ نَبُو الأُخْرَى: اثْنَانِ وَخَمْسُونَ.

34 the sons of the other Elam, 1,254;

٣٤ مِنْ أَهْلِ عِيلامَ الآخَرِ: أَلْفٌ وَمِئَتَانِ وَأَرْبَعَةٌ وَخَمْسُونَ.

35 the sons of Harim, 320;

٣٥ مِنْ أَهْلِ حَارِيمَ: ثَلاثُ مِئَةٍ وَعِشْرُونَ.

36 the sons of Jericho, 345;

٣٦ مِنْ أَهْلِ أَرِيحَا: ثَلاثُ مِئَةٍ وَخَمْسَةٌ وَأَرْبَعُونَ.

37 the sons of Lod, Hadid and Ono, 721;

٣٧ مِنْ أَهْلِ لُودَ وَحَادِيدَ وَأُونُو: سَبْعُ مِئَةٍ وَوَاحِدٌ وَعِشْرُونَ.

38 the sons of Senaah, 3,930.

٣٨ مِنْ أَهْلِ سَنَاءَةَ: ثَلاثَةُ آلافٍ وَتِسْعُ مِئَةٍ وَثَلاثُونَ.

39 This is the number of the priests: the sons of Jedaiah (through the family of Jeshua), 973;

٣٩ وَهَذِهِ عَشَائِرُ الْكَهَنَةِ الْعَائِدِينَ مِنَ السَّبْيِ: مِنْ بَنِي يَدْعِيَا مِنْ نَسْلِ يَشُوعَ: تِسْعُ مِئَةٍ وَثَلاثَةٌ وَسَبْعُونَ.

40 the sons of Immer, 1,052;

٤٠ بَنُو إِمِّيرَ: أَلْفٌ وَاثْنَانِ وَخَمْسُونَ.

41 the sons of Pashhur, 1,247;

٤١ بَنُو فَشْحُورَ: أَلْفٌ وَمِئَتَانِ وَسَبْعَةٌ وَأَرْبَعُونَ.

42 the sons of Harim, 1,017.

٤٢ بَنُو حَارِيمَ: أَلْفٌ وَسَبْعَةَ عَشَرَ.

43 This is the number of the Levites: the sons of Jeshua through Kadmiel (sons of Hodaviah), 74;

٤٣ أَمَّا عَشَائِرُ اللّاوِيِّينَ فَهُمْ: بَنُو يَشُوعَ مِنْ نَسْلِ قَدْمِيئِيلَ مِنْ أَحْفَادِ هُودُويَا: أَرْبَعَةٌ وَسَبْعُونَ.

44 the singers of the sons of Asaph, 148;

٤٤ الْمُغَنُّونَ مِنْ بَنِي آسَافَ: مِئَةٌ وَثَمَانِيَةٌ وَأَرْبَعُونَ.

45 the gatekeepers of the families of Shallum, Ater, Talmon, Akkub, Hatita, and Shobai, 138.

٤٥ حُرَّاسُ أَبْوَابِ الْهَيْكَلِ مِنْ بَنِي شَلُّومَ، وَأَطِيرَ وَطَلْمُونَ وَعَقُّوبَ وَحَطِيطَا وَشُوبَايَ: مِئَةٌ وَثَمَانِيَةٌ وَثَلاثُونَ.

46 The descendants of these Temple servants: Ziha, Hasupha, Tabbaoth,

٤٦ خُدَّامُ الْهَيْكَلِ: بَنُو صِيحَا وَحَسُوفَا وَطَبَاعُوتَ،

47 Keros, Sia, Padon,

٤٧ وَقِيرُوسَ وَسِيعَا وَفَادُونَ،

48 Lebanah, Hagabah, Shalmai,

٤٨ وَلَبَانَةَ وَحَجَابَا وَسَلْمَايَ،

49 Hanan, Giddel, Gahar,

٤٩ وَحَانَانَ وَجَدِيلَ وَجَاحَرَ،

50 Reaiah, Rezin, Nekoda,

٥٠ وَرَآيَا وَرَصِينَ وَنَقُودَا،

51 Gazzam, Uzza, Paseah,

٥١ وَجَزَامَ وَعَزَا وَفَاسِيحَ،

52 Besai, Meunim, Nephusim,

٥٢ وَبِيسَايَ وَمَعُونِيمَ وَنَفِيشَسِيمَ،

53 Bakbuk, Hakupha, Harhur,

٥٣ وَبَقْبُوقَ وَحَقُوفَا وَحَرْحُورَ،

54 Bazluth, Mehida, Harsha,

٥٤ وَبَصْلِيتَ وَمَحِيدَا وَحَرْشَا،

55 Barkos, Sisera, Temah,

٥٥ وَبَرْقُوسَ وَسِيسَرَا وَتَامَحَ،

56 Neziah, and Hatipha.

٥٦ وَنَصِيحَ وَحَطِيفَا.

57 The descendants of King Solomon's servants: Sotai, Sophereth, Perida,

٥٧ وَمِنْ نَسْلِ رِجَالِ سُلَيْمَانَ الْعَائِدِينَ مِنَ السَّبْيِ: بَنُو سُوطَايَ، وَسُوفَرَثَ وَفَرِيدَا،

58 Jaala, Darkon, Giddel,

٥٨ وَيَعْلا وَدَرْقُونَ وَجَدِيلَ،

59 Shephatiah, Hattil, Pokereth-Hazzebaim and Amon.

٥٩ وَشَفَطْيَا وَحَطِّيلَ وَفُوخَرَةِ الظِّبَاءِ وَآمُونَ.

60 The total of the Temple servants and the descendants of Solomon's servants was 392.

٦٠ فَكَانَتْ جُمْلَةُ عَدَدِ الْعَائِدِينَ مِنْ بَنِي خُدَّامِ الْهَيْكَلِ وَرِجَالِ سُلَيْمَانَ ثَلاثَ مِئَةٍ وَاثْنَيْنِ وَتِسْعِينَ رَجُلاً.

61 Those who came from the towns of Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Kerub, Addan, and Immer could not prove their family genealogy, or even that they were descendants of Israel.

٦١ وَهَذَا بَيَانٌ بِعَشَائِرِ الْعَائِدِينَ مِنْ تَلِّ مِلْحٍ وَتَلِّ حَرْشَا كَرُوبَ وَأَدُونَ وَإِمِّيرَ مِمَّنْ أَخْفَقُوا فِي إِثْبَاتِ انْتِمَاءِ بُيُوتِ آبَائِهِمْ وَنَسْلِهِمْ إِلَى إِسْرَائِيلَ:

62 They included the families of Delaiah, Tobiah, and Nekoda, 642 in total.

٦٢ بَنُو دَلايَا وَطُوبِيَّا وَنَقُودَا: سِتُّ مِئَةٍ وَاثْنَانِ وَأَرْبَعُونَ.

63 In addition there three priestly families, sons of Hobaiah, Hakkoz, and Barzillai. (Barzillai had married a woman descended from Barzillai of Gilead, and he was called by that name.)

٦٣ وَمِنَ الْكَهَنَةِ: بَنُو حَبَابَا وَهَقُّوصَ وَبَرْزِلّايَ الَّذِي تَزَوَّجَ مِنْ بَنَاتِ بَرْزِلّايَ الْجِلْعَادِيِّ وَانْتَسَبَ إِلَيْهِمْ.

64 They searched for a record of them in the genealogies, but their names weren't found, so they were barred from serving as priests.

٦٤ هَؤُلاءِ مُنِعُوا مِنْ مُمَارَسَةِ خِدْمَةِ الْكَهَنُوتِ، إِذْ لَمْ تُوْجَدْ أَنْسَابُهُمْ مُدَوَّنَةً فِي سِجِلاتِ الْكَهَنَةِ،

65 The governor instructed them not to eat anything from the sanctuary sacrifices until a priest could ask the Lord about the issue by using the Urim and Thummim.

٦٥ لِذَلِكَ أَمَرَهُمُ الْحَاكِمُ أَلّا يَتَنَاوَلُوا مِنْ طَعَامِ الْكَهَنَةِ إِلَى أَنْ يَحْضُرَ كَاهِنٌ يَقْدِرُ أَنْ يَسْتَخْدِمَ الأُورِيمَ وَالتُّمِّيمَ (لِيَفْصِلَ فِي الأَمْرِ).

66 The total of number of people returning was 42,360.

٦٦ فَكَانَتْ جُمْلَةُ الْعَائِدِينَ مِنَ السَّبْيِ اثْنَيْنِ وَأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفاً وَثَلاثَ مِئَةٍ وَسِتِّينَ رَجُلاً،

67 In addition there were 7,337 servants and 245 male and female singers.

٦٧ فَضْلاً عَنْ عَبِيدِهِمْ وَإِمَائِهِمْ الَّذِينَ بَلَغَ مَجْمُوعُهُمْ سَبْعَةَ آلافٍ وَثَلاثَ مِئَةٍ وَسَبْعَةً وَثَلاثِينَ. أَمَّا الْمُغَنُّونَ وَالْمُغَنِّيَاتُ فَكَانُوا مِئَتَيْنِ وَخَمْسَةً وَأَرْبَعِينَ.

68 They had 736 horses, 245 mules,

٦٨ وَكَانَ مَعَهُمْ مِنَ الْخَيْلِ سَبْعُ مِئَةٍ وَسِتَّةٌ وَثَلَاثُونَ، وَمِنَ الْبِغَالِ مِئَتَانِ وَخَمْسَةٌ وَأَرْبَعُونَ.

69 435 camels, and 6,720 donkeys.

٦٩ وَمِنَ الْجِمَالِ أَرْبَعُ مِئَةٍ وَخَمْسَةٌ وَثَلاثُونَ، وَمِنَ الْحَمِيرِ سِتَّةُ آلافٍ وَسَبْعُ مِئَةٍ وَعِشْرُونَ.

70 Some of the family leaders made voluntary contributions toward the work. The governor presented to the treasury 1,000 gold darics, 50 bowls and 530 sets of clothes for the priests.

٧٠ وَتَبَرَّعَ بَعْضُ الرُّؤَسَاءِ بِأَمْوَالٍ لِلْعَمَلِ فِي بَيْتِ الرَّبِّ، فَتَبَرَّعَ الْحَاكِمُ لِلْخَزِينَةِ بِأَلْفِ دِرْهَمٍ مِنَ الذَّهَبِ وَخَمْسِينَ مِنْضَحَةً وَخَمْسِ مِئَةٍ وَثَلاثِينَ قَمِيصاً لِلْكَهَنَةِ.

71 Some of the family leaders donated to the treasury for the work 20,000 darics of gold and 2,200 minas of silver.

٧١ وَقَدَّمَ بَعْضُ رُؤَسَاءِ الْعَائِلاتِ لِخَزِينَةِ الْعَمَلِ رِبْوَتَيْنِ (نَحْوَ مِئَةٍ وَسَبْعِينَ كِيلُو جِرَاماً) مِنَ الذَّهَبِ، وَأَلْفَيْنِ وَمِئَتَيْ مَناً (نَحْوَ طُنٍّ وَثُلْثِ الطُّنِّ) مِنَ الْفِضَّةِ.

72 The rest of the people donated 20,000 gold darics, 2,000 minas of silver, and 67 sets of clothes for the priests.

٧٢ وَأَمَّا مَا قَدَّمَهُ بَقِيَّةُ الشَّعْبِ فَكَانَ سِتَّ رِبْوَاتٍ (نَحْوَ خَمْسِ مِئَةٍ وَعَشْرِ كِيلُو جِرَاماً) مِنَ الذَّهَبِ، وَأَلْفَيْ مَناً (نَحْوَ طُنٍّ وَرُبْعِ الطُّنِّ) مِنَ الْفِضَّةِ وَسَبْعَةً وَسِتِّينَ قَمِيصاً لِلْكَهَنَةِ.

73 The priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, and Temple servants, as well as some of the people and the rest of the Israelites, went back to live in their specific towns. By the seventh month the Israelites were living in their towns,

٧٣ وَسَكَنَ الْكَهَنَةُ وَاللّاوِيُّونَ وَحَرَسُ الأَبْوَابِ وَالْمُغَنُّونَ وَبَعْضُ الشَّعْبِ وَخُدَّامُ الْهَيْكَلِ وَسَائِرُ إِسْرَائِيلَ فِي مُدُنِهِمْ. وَمَا إِنْ أَهَلَّ الشَّهْرُ السَّابِعُ (سِبْتَمْبَر – أَيْلُولُ) حَتَّى كَانَ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ قَدِ اسْتَقَرُّوا فِي مُدُنِهِمْ.
