18 This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah happened. His mother, Mary, was engaged to Joseph, but before they slept together she became pregnant by the Holy Spirit.
Sɛnea Yesu Kristo awo ho nsɛm te ni: Wɔde ne na Maria maa Yosef sɛ ɔnware no, nanso ansa na wobehyia mu sɛ awarefo no, ohuu sɛ wanyinsɛn; nea efi Honhom Kronkron.
19 Joseph, her fiancé, was a good man and didn't want to shame her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement discreetly.
Ɛbaa saa no, ne kunu Yosef a odi ne ho ni no ampɛ sɛ obegu Maria anim ase nti ɔyɛɛ nʼadwene sɛ obegyaa no aware wɔ kokoa mu.
20 While he was thinking about all of this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and told him, “Joseph, son of David, don't be afraid to marry Mary because she is pregnant by the Holy Spirit.
Bere a asɛm no ayɛ Yosef dadwen no, Awurade bɔfo beyii ne ho adi kyerɛɛ no wɔ dae mu. Ɔbɔfo no kae se, “Yosef, Dawid ba, nsuro sɛ wobɛfa Maria sɛ wo yere efisɛ ne nyinsɛn no fi Honhom Kronkron.
21 She will give birth to a son and you shall call him Jesus, for he will save people from their sins.”
Ɔbɛwo ɔbarima na woato no din Yesu, ase ne Agyenkwa, efisɛ ɔno na obegye ne nkurɔfo nkwa afi wɔn bɔne mu.”
22 (Now this all happened to fulfill what the Lord said through the prophet:
Eyi nyinaa baa mu de hyɛɛ nea Awurade nam odiyifo no so kae no ma se:
23 “A virgin will become pregnant, and will give birth to a son. They will call him Immanuel,” which means “God with us.”)
“Ɔbabun no benyinsɛn, na wawo ɔbabarima, na wɔato no din Immanuel” a ase ne sɛ, “Onyankopɔn ne yɛn wɔ hɔ.”
24 Joseph woke up and did what the angel of the Lord told him to do.
Bere a Yosef nyan no, ɔyɛɛ sɛnea ɔbɔfo no hyɛɛ no sɛ ɔnyɛ no. Enti ɔkɔfaa Maria baa ne fi ma ɔbɛyɛɛ ne yere.
25 Joseph married Mary, but did not sleep with her until after she had given birth to a son, whom he named Jesus.
Nanso Yosef ne Maria anhyia da kosii sɛ Maria woo ɔbabarima maa Yosef too ne din “Yesu.”
