Matthew 26
1 After Jesus had said all this, he told his disciples,
൧യേശു ഈ വചനങ്ങൾ മുഴുവനും പറഞ്ഞു തീർന്നശേഷം ശിഷ്യന്മാരോട്:
2 “You know that it's Passover in two days time, and the Son of man will be handed over to be crucified.”
൨രണ്ടു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ട് പെസഹ വരുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ; അന്ന് മനുഷ്യപുത്രനെ ക്രൂശിക്കുവാൻ ഏല്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
3 Then the chief priests and the elders of the people gathered in the courtyard of Caiaphas, the high priest.
൩അന്ന് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ജനത്തിന്റെ മൂപ്പന്മാരും മഹാപുരോഹിതനായ കയ്യഫാവിന്റെ മണ്ഡപത്തിൽ വന്നുകൂടി,
4 There they plotted to arrest Jesus on some deceitful pretext and kill him.
൪യേശുവിനെ ഉപായത്താൽ പിടിച്ച് ഗൂഢമായി കൊല്ലുവാൻ ആലോചിച്ചു;
5 But they said, “Let's not do this during the festival so that the people don't riot.”
൫എങ്കിലും ജനത്തിൽ കലഹമുണ്ടാകാതിരിക്കുവാൻ പെരുന്നാളിൽ ആകരുത് എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.
6 While Jesus was staying at Simon the leper's house in Bethany,
൬യേശു ബേഥാന്യയിൽ കുഷ്ഠരോഗിയായിരുന്ന ശിമോന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ മേശയ്ക്കഭിമുഖമായി ചാരി ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ
7 a woman came over to him carrying an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume. She poured it on Jesus' head while he was sitting eating. But when the disciples saw what she did, they were upset.
൭ഒരു സ്ത്രീ വിലയേറിയ പരിമളതൈലം നിറഞ്ഞ, വെൺകല്ലിൽ തീർത്ത ഭരണിയുമായി യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു, പരിമളതൈലം അവന്റെ തലയിൽ ഒഴിച്ചു.
8 “What a terrible waste!” they objected.
൮ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അത് കണ്ടിട്ട് കോപത്തോടെ: ഈ വെറും ചെലവിന്റെ കാരണം എന്താണ്?
9 “This perfume could've been sold for a lot of money and given to the poor!”
൯ഇതു വളരെ വിലയ്ക്ക് വിറ്റ് ദരിദ്രർക്ക് കൊടുക്കാമായിരുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
10 Jesus was aware of what was going on and told them, “Why are you upset with this woman? She's done something wonderful for me!
൧൦യേശു അത് അറിഞ്ഞ് അവരോട്: സ്ത്രീയെ അസഹ്യപ്പെടുത്തുന്നത് എന്ത്? അവൾ എങ്കൽ മനോഹരമായ പ്രവർത്തിയല്ലോ ചെയ്തതു.
11 You'll always have the poor with you, but you won't always have me.
൧൧ദരിദ്രർ എല്ലായ്പോഴും നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ ഉണ്ടല്ലോ; ഞാനോ എല്ലായ്പോഴും നിങ്ങളോടൊപ്പം ഇല്ലല്ലോ?
12 By pouring this perfume on my body she's prepared me for burial.
൧൨അവൾ ഈ തൈലം എന്റെ ദേഹത്തിന്മേൽ ഒഴിച്ചത് എന്റെ ശവസംസ്കാരത്തിനായി ചെയ്തതാകുന്നു.
13 I tell you the truth: wherever in the world this good news is spread, the story of what this woman has done will also be told in memory of her.”
൧൩ലോകത്തിൽ എങ്ങും, ഈ സുവിശേഷം പ്രസംഗിക്കുന്നിടത്തെല്ലാം, അവൾ ചെയ്തതും അവളുടെ ഓർമ്മയ്ക്കായി പ്രസ്താവിക്കും എന്നു ഞാൻ സത്യമായിട്ട് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
14 Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve disciples, went to the chief priests
൧൪അന്ന് പന്തിരുവരിൽ ഒരുവനായ യൂദാ ഈസ്കര്യോത്താവ് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന്:
15 and asked them, “How much will you pay me for betraying Jesus to you?” They paid him thirty silver coins.
൧൫ഞാൻ യേശുവിനെ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ഏൽപ്പിച്ചു തന്നാൽ, നിങ്ങൾ എനിക്ക് എന്ത് തരുവാൻ മനസ്സുണ്ട് എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു? അവർ യൂദാ ഈസ്കര്യോത്താവിന് മുപ്പത് വെള്ളിക്കാശ് തൂക്കിക്കൊടുത്തു.
16 From then on he looked for an opportunity to betray Jesus.
൧൬അന്നുമുതൽ യേശുവിനെ കാണിച്ചുകൊടുക്കുവാൻ അവൻ അവസരം അന്വേഷിച്ചുപോന്നു.
17 On the first day of the festival of unleavened bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked him, “Where do you want us to prepare the Passover meal for you to eat?”
൧൭പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പത്തിന്റെ ഒന്നാം നാളിൽ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു: നീ പെസഹ കഴിക്കുവാൻ ഞങ്ങൾ ഒരുക്കേണ്ടത് എവിടെ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
18 Jesus told them, “Go into the city and find this particular man, and tell him that the Teacher says, ‘My time is approaching. I'm coming to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’”
൧൮അതിന് അവൻ പറഞ്ഞത്: നിങ്ങൾ നഗരത്തിൽ ഒരുവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന്: എന്റെ സമയം അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാൻ എന്റെ ശിഷ്യരുമായി നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പെസഹ കഴിക്കും എന്നു ഗുരു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറയുവിൻ.
19 The disciples did as Jesus told them, and prepared the Passover meal there.
൧൯ശിഷ്യന്മാർ യേശു നിർദ്ദേശിച്ചത് പോലെ ചെയ്തു പെസഹ തയ്യാറാക്കി.
20 When evening came he sat down to eat with the Twelve.
൨൦സന്ധ്യയായപ്പോൾ യേശു പന്ത്രണ്ട് ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടുകൂടെ ഭക്ഷിക്കുവാൻ ഇരുന്നു.
21 While they were eating he told them, “I tell you the truth: one of you is going to betray me.”
൨൧അവർ ഭക്ഷിക്കുമ്പോൾ യേശു: നിങ്ങളിൽ ഒരുവൻ എന്നെ കാണിച്ചുകൊടുക്കും എന്നു “ഞാൻ സത്യമായിട്ട് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
22 They were extremely upset. One after the other they asked him, “Lord, it's not me, is it?”
൨൨അപ്പോൾ അവർ അത്യന്തം ദുഃഖിച്ചു: തീർച്ചയായും ഞാനല്ലല്ലോ കർത്താവേ, ഞാനല്ലല്ലോ കർത്താവേ, എന്നു ഓരോരുത്തൻ ചോദിച്ചു തുടങ്ങി.
23 “The one who's dipped his hand into the dish with me will betray me,” Jesus replied.
൨൩അവൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞത്: എന്നോടുകൂടെ കൈ താലത്തിൽ മുക്കുന്നവൻ തന്നേ എന്നെ കാണിച്ചുകൊടുക്കും.
24 “The Son of man will die just as it was prophesied about him, but what a disaster it will be for the man who betrays the Son of man! It would be better for that man if he'd never been born!”
൨൪തന്നെക്കുറിച്ച് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ പോകും; മനുഷ്യപുത്രനെ കാണിച്ചു കൊടുക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യനോ ഹാ കഷ്ടം; ആ മനുഷ്യൻ ജനിക്കാതിരുന്നു എങ്കിൽ അവന് നന്നായിരുന്നു.
25 Judas, the one who would betray Jesus, asked “It's not me, is it, Rabbi?” “You said it,” Jesus replied.
൨൫അവനെ കാണിച്ചു കൊടുക്കുന്ന യൂദാ: ഞാനോ, റബ്ബീ, എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതിന്: നീ സ്വയം പറഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ എന്ന് അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.
26 While they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Then he broke it and gave pieces to the disciples. “Take and eat this for it is my body,” said Jesus.
൨൬അവർ ഭക്ഷിക്കുമ്പോൾ യേശു അപ്പം എടുത്തു അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു നുറുക്കി ശിഷ്യന്മാർക്ക് കൊടുത്തു: വാങ്ങി ഭക്ഷിക്കുവിൻ; ഇതു എന്റെ ശരീരം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
27 Then he picked up the cup, blessed it, and gave it to them. “Drink from it, all of you,” he told them.
൨൭പിന്നെ പാനപാത്രം എടുത്തു സ്തോത്രം അർപ്പിച്ച് അവർക്ക് കൊടുത്തു: ഇതിൽ നിന്നു എല്ലാവരും കുടിക്കുവിൻ.
28 “For this is my blood of the agreement, poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
൨൮ഇതു എന്റെ രക്തം ഉടമ്പടിക്കായുള്ളത് അനേകർക്കുവേണ്ടി പാപമോചനത്തിനായി ചൊരിയുന്നു;
29 However, I tell you, I won't drink this fruit of the vine until the day I drink it new with you in the kingdom of my Father.”
൨൯എന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിൽ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ പുതുതായി കുടിക്കുംനാൾവരെ ഞാൻ മുന്തിരിവള്ളിയുടെ ഫലത്തിന്റെ ഈ അനുഭവത്തിൽ നിന്നു ഇനി കുടിക്കുകയില്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
30 After they'd sung a song, they left for the Mount of Olives.
൩൦പിന്നെ അവർ സ്തോത്രാലാപനത്തിന് ശേഷം ഒലിവുമലയ്ക്ക് പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി.
31 “All of you will abandon me tonight,” Jesus told them. “As Scripture says, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the flock of sheep will be completely scattered.’
൩൧യേശു അവരോട്: ഈ രാത്രിയിൽ ഞാൻ നിമിത്തം നിങ്ങൾ എല്ലാവരും വീണുപോകും; ഞാൻ ഇടയനെ വെട്ടും; ആട്ടിൻകൂട്ടങ്ങൾ എല്ലാം ചിതറിപ്പോകും എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
32 But after I have risen, I'll go ahead of you to Galilee.”
൩൨എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റശേഷം നിങ്ങൾക്ക് മുമ്പായി ഗലീലയ്ക്കു് പോകും.
33 But Peter objected, “Even if everyone else abandons you, I'll never abandon you.”
൩൩അതിന് പത്രൊസ്: എല്ലാവരും അങ്ങ് നിമിത്തം വീണുപോയാലും ഞാൻ ഒരുനാളും വീഴുകയില്ല എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
34 “I'm telling you the truth,” Jesus told him, “This very night, before the cock crows, you'll deny me three times.”
൩൪യേശു അവനോട്: ഈ രാത്രിയിൽ കോഴി കൂകുംമുമ്പെ നീ മൂന്നുവട്ടം എന്നെ തള്ളിപ്പറയും എന്നു ഞാൻ സത്യമായിട്ട് നിന്നോട് പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
35 “Even if I have to die with you, I'll never deny you!” Peter insisted. And all the disciples said the same thing.
൩൫നിന്നോട് കൂടെ മരിക്കേണ്ടിവന്നാലും ഞാൻ നിന്നെ തള്ളിപ്പറകയില്ല എന്നു പത്രൊസ് അവനോട് പറഞ്ഞു. അതുപോലെ തന്നെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ എല്ലാവരും പറഞ്ഞു.
36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane. He told them, “Sit down here while I go over there and pray.”
൩൬അനന്തരം യേശു അവരുമായി ഗെത്ത്ശമന എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന തോട്ടത്തിൽ വന്നു ശിഷ്യന്മാരോട്: ഞാൻ അവിടെ പോയി പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു വരുവോളം ഇവിടെ ഇരിപ്പിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു,
37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee with him, and he began to suffer agonizing sorrow and distress.
൩൭തന്നോടൊപ്പം പത്രൊസിനേയും സെബെദിപുത്രന്മാർ ഇരുവരെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ട് ചെന്ന് ദുഃഖിച്ചും വ്യാകുലപ്പെട്ടും തുടങ്ങി:
38 Then he said to them, “I am so overwhelmed with sadness that it's killing me. Wait here and keep watch with me.”
൩൮എന്റെ ഉള്ളം മരണവേദനപോലെ അതിദുഃഖിതമായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇവിടെ എന്നോടൊപ്പം ഉണർന്നിരിപ്പിൻ എന്നു അവരോട് പറഞ്ഞു.
39 He went a little farther forward, fell face down, and prayed. “My Father, please, if it's possible, let this cup of suffering be taken from me,” Jesus asked. “Even so, may it not be what I want but what you want.”
൩൯പിന്നെ അവൻ അല്പം മുമ്പോട്ടുചെന്നു കവിണ്ണുവീണു: പിതാവേ, കഴിയും എങ്കിൽ ഈ പാനപാത്രം എങ്കൽ നിന്നു നീങ്ങിപ്പോകേണമേ; എങ്കിലും ഞാൻ ഇച്ഛിക്കുംപോലെ അല്ല, നീ ഇച്ഛിക്കുംപോലെ ആകട്ടെ എന്നു പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു.
40 He went back to the disciples and found them asleep. He said to Peter, “What, you couldn't stay awake with me for just one hour?
൪൦പിന്നെ അവൻ ശിഷ്യന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു, അവർ ഉറങ്ങുന്നത് കണ്ട്, പത്രൊസിനോട്: എന്നോട് കൂടെ ഒരു നാഴികപോലും ഉണർന്നിരിപ്പാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് കഴിഞ്ഞില്ലയോ?
41 Stay awake and pray, so that you don't fall into temptation. Yes, the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”
൪൧പരീക്ഷയിൽ അകപ്പെടാതിരിക്കുവാൻ ഉണർന്നിരുന്നു പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കുവിൻ; ആത്മാവ് ഒരുക്കമുള്ളത്, ജഡമോ ബലഹീനമത്രേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു
42 He went away a second time and prayed. “My Father, if this cup cannot be taken from me without me drinking from it, then your will be done,” he said.
൪൨രണ്ടാമതും പോയി: പിതാവേ, ഞാൻ കുടിക്കാതെ അത് നീങ്ങിക്കൂടാ എങ്കിൽ, നിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം ആകട്ടെ എന്നു പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു.
43 He went back and found them sleeping, for they just couldn't stay awake.
൪൩അനന്തരം അവൻ വന്നു, അവർ കണ്ണിന് ഭാരം ഏറുകയാൽ പിന്നെയും ഉറങ്ങുന്നത് കണ്ട്.
44 So he left them once more, and went off and prayed a third time, repeating the same things.
൪൪അവരെ വിട്ടു മൂന്നാമതും പോയി ആ വചനം തന്നേ ചൊല്ലി പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു.
45 Then he returned to the disciples, and told them, “How can you still be sleeping and resting? Look, the time has come. The Son of man is about to be betrayed into the hands of sinners!
൪൫പിന്നെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു: ഇപ്പോഴും നിങ്ങൾ ഉറങ്ങി ആശ്വസിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നുവോ? സമയം സമീപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ പാപികളുടെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു;
46 Get up, let's go! See, the one who's betraying me has arrived.”
൪൬എഴുന്നേല്പിൻ, നമുക്കു പോകാം; ഇതാ, എന്നെ കാണിച്ചുകൊടുക്കുന്നവൻ അടുത്തെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
47 As he said this, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived with a large mob armed with swords and clubs sent by the chief priests and elders of the people.
൪൭അവൻ സംസാരിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ തന്നേ പന്തിരുവരിൽ ഒരുവനായ യൂദയും അവനോട് കൂടെ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ജനത്തിന്റെ മൂപ്പന്മാരും അയച്ച വലിയൊരു പുരുഷാരവും വാളുകളും വടികളുമായി വന്നു.
48 The betrayer had arranged to give them a signal: “The one that I kiss, that's him—arrest him,” he'd told them.
൪൮യേശുവിനെ കാണിച്ചുകൊടുക്കുന്നവൻ അവർക്ക് ഒരു അടയാളം കൊടുത്തിരുന്നു; ഞാൻ ആരെ ചുംബിക്കുമോ അവൻ തന്നേ ആകുന്നു, അവനെ പിടിച്ചുകൊൾവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
49 Judas came up to Jesus immediately, and said, “Hello, Rabbi,” and kissed him.
൪൯ഉടനെ അവൻ യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു: വന്ദനം റബ്ബീ, എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ ചുംബിച്ചു.
50 “My friend, do what you came to do,” Jesus said to Judas. So they came and grabbed hold of Jesus, and arrested him.
൫൦യേശു അവനോട്: സ്നേഹിതാ, നീ വന്ന കാര്യം എന്ത് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ അവർ അടുത്തുവന്ന് യേശുവിന്മേൽ കൈ വെച്ച് അവനെ പിടിച്ച്.
51 One of those who was with Jesus reached for his sword and pulled it out. He struck the high priest's servant, cutting off his ear.
൫൧അപ്പോൾ യേശുവിനോടു കൂടെയുള്ളവരിൽ ഒരുവൻ കൈ നീട്ടി വാൾ ഊരി, മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ ദാസനെ വെട്ടി അവന്റെ കാത് അറുത്തു.
52 But Jesus told him, “Put your sword away. Everyone who fights with the sword will die by the sword.
൫൨യേശു അവനോട്: വാൾ ഉറയിൽ ഇടുക; വാൾ എടുക്കുന്നവർ ഒക്കെയും വാളാൽ തന്നെ നശിച്ചുപോകും.
53 Don't you think I could ask my Father, and he'd immediately send more than twelve legions of angels?
൫൩എന്റെ പിതാവിനോട് ഇപ്പോൾ തന്നേ പന്ത്രണ്ട് ലെഗ്യോനിലുംഅധികം ദൂതന്മാരെ എന്റെ അരികെ നിർത്തേണ്ടതിന് എനിക്ക് വിളിച്ചുകൂടാ എന്നു തോന്നുന്നുവോ?
54 But then how could the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must be like this?”
൫൪എന്നാൽ ഇങ്ങനെ സംഭവിച്ചിരിക്കണം എന്നുള്ള തിരുവെഴുത്തുകൾക്ക് പിന്നെ എങ്ങനെ നിവൃത്തിവരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
55 Then Jesus told the mob, “Have you come with swords and clubs to arrest me as if I was some kind of dangerous criminal? Every day I sat in the Temple teaching and you didn't arrest me then.
൫൫ആ നാഴികയിൽ യേശു പുരുഷാരത്തോട്: ഒരു കൊള്ളക്കാരന്റെ നേരെ എന്നപോലെ നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ പിടിപ്പാൻ വാളും വടിയുമായി വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാൻ ദിവസേന ഉപദേശിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ദൈവാലയത്തിൽ ഇരുന്നിട്ടും നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ ബന്ധിച്ചില്ല.
56 But all this is happening to fulfill what the prophets wrote.” Then all the disciples abandoned him and ran away.
൫൬എന്നാൽ ഇതു ഒക്കെയും പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ എഴുത്തുകൾ നിവൃത്തിയാകേണ്ടതിന് സംഭവിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ എല്ലാവരും അവനെ വിട്ടു ഓടിപ്പോയി.
57 Those who'd arrested Jesus took him to the home of Caiaphas, the high priest, where the religious teachers and elders had gathered.
൫൭യേശുവിനെ പിടിച്ചവരോ അവനെ മഹാപുരോഹിതനായ കയ്യഫായുടെ അടുക്കൽ ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും മൂപ്പന്മാരും ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടിയിരുന്നിടത്തേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുപോയി.
58 Peter followed him at a distance, and went into the high priest's courtyard. He sat there with the guards to see how things would end.
൫൮എന്നാൽ പത്രൊസ് ദൂരത്ത് നിന്നും പിൻതുടർന്നു മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ അരമനയോളം ചെന്ന്, അകത്ത് കടന്ന് അവസാനം എന്താകും എന്ന് കാണ്മാൻ സേവകന്മാരോടുകൂടി ഇരുന്നു
59 The chief priests and the whole council were trying to find some false evidence against Jesus so they could put him to death.
൫൯മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ന്യായാധിപസംഘം ഒക്കെയും യേശുവിനെ കൊല്ലുവാനായി അവന്റെനേരെ കള്ളസാക്ഷ്യം അന്വേഷിച്ചു;
60 But they couldn't find anything, even though many false witnesses came forward. Eventually two came forward
൬൦കള്ളസാക്ഷികൾ പലരും വന്നിട്ടും ഒത്തുവന്നില്ല.
61 and reported, “This man said, ‘I can destroy God's Temple, and rebuild it in three days.’”
൬൧ഒടുവിൽ രണ്ടുപേർ വന്നു: ദൈവമന്ദിരം പൊളിച്ച് മൂന്നു ദിവസംകൊണ്ട് വീണ്ടും പണിവാൻ എനിക്ക് കഴിയും എന്നു ഇവൻ പറഞ്ഞു എന്നു അവരെ ധരിപ്പിച്ചു.
62 The high priest stood up and asked Jesus, “Have you no answer? What do you have to say in your defense?”
൬൨മഹാപുരോഹിതൻ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് അവനോട്: നിനക്ക് ഒരു ഉത്തരവും പറയുവാനില്ലേ? ഇവർ നിന്റെനേരെ സാക്ഷ്യം പറയുന്നത് എന്ത് എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
63 But Jesus remained silent. The high priest said to Jesus, “In the name of the living God I place you under oath. Tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.”

65 Then the high priest tore his clothes, and said, “He's speaking blasphemy! Why do we need any witnesses? Look, now you've heard for yourselves his blasphemy!

67 Then they spat in his face and beat him. Some of them slapped him with their hands,

69 Meanwhile Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. A servant girl came up to him, and said, “You were with Jesus the Galilean too!”

70 But he denied it in front of everyone. “I don't know what you're talking about,” he said.

71 When he went back to the courtyard entrance another servant girl saw him and said to the people there, “This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.”

72 Once again he denied it, saying with an oath, “I don't know him.”

73 A little while later the people standing there came up to Peter and said, “You definitely are one of them. Your accent gives you away.”

74 Then he started to swear: “Curses on me if I'm a liar! I don't know the man!” Immediately the cock crowed.

75 Then Peter remembered what Jesus had told him: “Before the cock crows, three times you will deny knowing me.” He went outside and wept bitterly.
