Matthew 19
1 When Jesus finished speaking he left Galilee and went to the region of Judea beyond the Jordan River.
ਅਨਨ੍ਤਰਮ੍ ਏਤਾਸੁ ਕਥਾਸੁ ਸਮਾਪ੍ਤਾਸੁ ਯੀਸ਼ੁ ਰ੍ਗਾਲੀਲਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਤ੍ ਪ੍ਰਸ੍ਥਾਯ ਯਰ੍ਦਨ੍ਤੀਰਸ੍ਥੰ ਯਿਹੂਦਾਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪ੍ਤਃ|
2 Large crowds followed him, and he healed those who were sick there.
ਤਦਾ ਤਤ੍ਪਸ਼੍ਚਾਤ੍ ਜਨਨਿਵਹੇ ਗਤੇ ਸ ਤਤ੍ਰ ਤਾਨ੍ ਨਿਰਾਮਯਾਨ੍ ਅਕਰੋਤ੍|
3 Some Pharisees came to test him. “Is a man allowed to divorce his wife for any reason?” they asked.
ਤਦਨਨ੍ਤਰੰ ਫਿਰੂਸ਼ਿਨਸ੍ਤਤ੍ਸਮੀਪਮਾਗਤ੍ਯ ਪਾਰੀਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਿਤੁੰ ਤੰ ਪਪ੍ਰੱਛੁਃ, ਕਸ੍ਮਾਦਪਿ ਕਾਰਣਾਤ੍ ਨਰੇਣ ਸ੍ਵਜਾਯਾ ਪਰਿਤ੍ਯਾਜ੍ਯਾ ਨ ਵਾ?
4 Jesus replied, “Haven't you read that God who created people in the beginning made them male and female?
ਸ ਪ੍ਰਤ੍ਯੁਵਾਚ, ਪ੍ਰਥਮਮ੍ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰੋ ਨਰਤ੍ਵੇਨ ਨਾਰੀਤ੍ਵੇਨ ਚ ਮਨੁਜਾਨ੍ ਸਸਰ੍ਜ, ਤਸ੍ਮਾਤ੍ ਕਥਿਤਵਾਨ੍,
5 He said, ‘This is the reason a man will leave his father and mother, and join with his wife, and the two shall become one.’
ਮਾਨੁਸ਼਼ਃ ਸ੍ਵਪਿਤਰੌ ਪਰਿਤ੍ਯਜ੍ਯ ਸ੍ਵਪਤ੍ਨ੍ਯਾਮ੍ ਆਸਕ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਯਤੇ, ਤੌ ਦ੍ਵੌ ਜਨਾਵੇਕਾਙ੍ਗੌ ਭਵਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਃ, ਕਿਮੇਤਦ੍ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਭਿ ਰ੍ਨ ਪਠਿਤਮ੍?
6 Now they're no longer two, but one. What God has joined together no one should separate.”
ਅਤਸ੍ਤੌ ਪੁਨ ਰ੍ਨ ਦ੍ਵੌ ਤਯੋਰੇਕਾਙ੍ਗਤ੍ਵੰ ਜਾਤੰ, ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰੇਣ ਯੱਚ ਸਮਯੁਜ੍ਯਤ, ਮਨੁਜੋ ਨ ਤਦ੍ ਭਿਨ੍ਦ੍ਯਾਤ੍|
7 “Then why did Moses give a law that a man could divorce his wife by giving her a written certificate of divorce, and sending her away?” they asked.
ਤਦਾਨੀਂ ਤੇ ਤੰ ਪ੍ਰਤ੍ਯਵਦਨ੍, ਤਥਾਤ੍ਵੇ ਤ੍ਯਾਜ੍ਯਪਤ੍ਰੰ ਦੱਤ੍ਵਾ ਸ੍ਵਾਂ ਸ੍ਵਾਂ ਜਾਯਾਂ ਤ੍ਯਕ੍ਤੁੰ ਵ੍ਯਵਸ੍ਥਾਂ ਮੂਸਾਃ ਕਥੰ ਲਿਲੇਖ?
8 “Because of your hard-hearted attitude Moses permitted you to divorce your wives, but it wasn't like that in the beginning,” Jesus replied.
ਤਤਃ ਸ ਕਥਿਤਵਾਨ੍, ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਕੰ ਮਨਸਾਂ ਕਾਠਿਨ੍ਯਾਦ੍ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਨ੍ ਸ੍ਵਾਂ ਸ੍ਵਾਂ ਜਾਯਾਂ ਤ੍ਯਕ੍ਤੁਮ੍ ਅਨ੍ਵਮਨ੍ਯਤ ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਥਮਾਦ੍ ਏਸ਼਼ੋ ਵਿਧਿਰ੍ਨਾਸੀਤ੍|
9 “I tell you, anyone who divorces his wife except on the grounds of sexual immorality and then marries another woman, commits adultery.”
ਅਤੋ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਨਹੰ ਵਦਾਮਿ, ਵ੍ਯਭਿਚਾਰੰ ਵਿਨਾ ਯੋ ਨਿਜਜਾਯਾਂ ਤ੍ਯਜੇਤ੍ ਅਨ੍ਯਾਞ੍ਚ ਵਿਵਹੇਤ੍, ਸ ਪਰਦਾਰਾਨ੍ ਗੱਛਤਿ; ਯਸ਼੍ਚ ਤ੍ਯਕ੍ਤਾਂ ਨਾਰੀਂ ਵਿਵਹਤਿ ਸੋਪਿ ਪਰਦਾਰੇਸ਼਼ੁ ਰਮਤੇ|
10 “If that's the situation between husband and wife, it's better not to marry!” his disciples told him.
ਤਦਾ ਤਸ੍ਯ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਾਸ੍ਤੰ ਬਭਾਸ਼਼ਿਰੇ, ਯਦਿ ਸ੍ਵਜਾਯਯਾ ਸਾਕੰ ਪੁੰਸ ਏਤਾਦ੍ਰੁʼਕ੍ ਸਮ੍ਬਨ੍ਧੋ ਜਾਯਤੇ, ਤਰ੍ਹਿ ਵਿਵਹਨਮੇਵ ਨ ਭਦ੍ਰੰ|
11 “Not everyone can accept this instruction, only those it's given to,” Jesus told them.
ਤਤਃ ਸ ਉਕ੍ਤਵਾਨ੍, ਯੇਭ੍ਯਸ੍ਤਤ੍ਸਾਮਰ੍ਥ੍ਯੰ ਆਦਾਯਿ, ਤਾਨ੍ ਵਿਨਾਨ੍ਯਃ ਕੋਪਿ ਮਨੁਜ ਏਤਨ੍ਮਤੰ ਗ੍ਰਹੀਤੁੰ ਨ ਸ਼ਕ੍ਨੋਤਿ|
12 “Some are born as eunuchs, some are made eunuchs by men, and some choose to be eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Those who can accept this should accept it.”
ਕਤਿਪਯਾ ਜਨਨਕ੍ਲੀਬਃ ਕਤਿਪਯਾ ਨਰਕ੍ਰੁʼਤਕ੍ਲੀਬਃ ਸ੍ਵਰ੍ਗਰਾਜ੍ਯਾਯ ਕਤਿਪਯਾਃ ਸ੍ਵਕ੍ਰੁʼਤਕ੍ਲੀਬਾਸ਼੍ਚ ਸਨ੍ਤਿ, ਯੇ ਗ੍ਰਹੀਤੁੰ ਸ਼ਕ੍ਨੁਵਨ੍ਤਿ ਤੇ ਗ੍ਰੁʼਹ੍ਲਨ੍ਤੁ|
13 The people brought little children to him so he could bless them and pray for them. But the disciples told them not to.
ਅਪਰਮ੍ ਯਥਾ ਸ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼ੂਨਾਂ ਗਾਤ੍ਰੇਸ਼਼ੁ ਹਸ੍ਤੰ ਦਤ੍ਵਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਰ੍ਥਯਤੇ, ਤਦਰ੍ਥੰ ਤਤ੍ਸਮੀਂਪੰ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਵ ਆਨੀਯਨ੍ਤ, ਤਤ ਆਨਯਿਤ੍ਰੁʼਨ੍ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਾਸ੍ਤਿਰਸ੍ਕ੍ਰੁʼਤਵਨ੍ਤਃ|
14 But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me. Don't stop them. The kingdom of heaven belongs to those who are like them!”
ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਯੀਸ਼ੁਰੁਵਾਚ, ਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਵੋ ਮਦਨ੍ਤਿਕਮ੍ ਆਗੱਛਨ੍ਤੁ, ਤਾਨ੍ ਮਾ ਵਾਰਯਤ, ਏਤਾਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼ਾਂ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼ੂਨਾਮੇਵ ਸ੍ਵਰ੍ਗਰਾਜ੍ਯੰ|
15 He placed his hands on them to bless them, and then he left.
ਤਤਃ ਸ ਤੇਸ਼਼ਾਂ ਗਾਤ੍ਰੇਸ਼਼ੁ ਹਸ੍ਤੰ ਦਤ੍ਵਾ ਤਸ੍ਮਾਤ੍ ਸ੍ਥਾਨਾਤ੍ ਪ੍ਰਤਸ੍ਥੇ|
16 A man came to Jesus and asked him, “Teacher, what good things must I do to gain eternal life?” (aiōnios g166)
ਅਪਰਮ੍ ਏਕ ਆਗਤ੍ਯ ਤੰ ਪਪ੍ਰੱਛ, ਹੇ ਪਰਮਗੁਰੋ, ਅਨਨ੍ਤਾਯੁਃ ਪ੍ਰਾਪ੍ਤੁੰ ਮਯਾ ਕਿੰ ਕਿੰ ਸਤ੍ਕਰ੍ੰਮ ਕਰ੍ੱਤਵ੍ਯੰ? (aiōnios g166)
17 “Why do you ask me what is good?” Jesus replied. “There's only one who is good. But if you want to have eternal life, then keep the commandments.”
ਤਤਃ ਸ ਉਵਾਚ, ਮਾਂ ਪਰਮੰ ਕੁਤੋ ਵਦਸਿ? ਵਿਨੇਸ਼੍ਚਰੰ ਨ ਕੋਪਿ ਪਰਮਃ, ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਯਦ੍ਯਨਨ੍ਤਾਯੁਃ ਪ੍ਰਾਪ੍ਤੁੰ ਵਾਞ੍ਛਸਿ, ਤਰ੍ਹ੍ਯਾਜ੍ਞਾਃ ਪਾਲਯ|
18 “Which ones?” the man asked him. “Don't murder, don't commit adultery, don't steal, don't give false testimony,
ਤਦਾ ਸ ਪ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼਼੍ਟਵਾਨ੍, ਕਾਃ ਕਾ ਆਜ੍ਞਾਃ? ਤਤੋ ਯੀਸ਼ੁਃ ਕਥਿਤਵਾਨ੍, ਨਰੰ ਮਾ ਹਨ੍ਯਾਃ, ਪਰਦਾਰਾਨ੍ ਮਾ ਗੱਛੇਃ, ਮਾ ਚੋਰਯੇਃ, ਮ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼਼ਾਸਾਕ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਯੰ ਮਾ ਦਦ੍ਯਾਃ,
19 honor your father and mother, and love your neighbor as yourself,” replied Jesus.
ਨਿਜਪਿਤਰੌ ਸੰਮਨ੍ਯਸ੍ਵ, ਸ੍ਵਸਮੀਪਵਾਸਿਨਿ ਸ੍ਵਵਤ੍ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੁਰੁ|
20 “I've kept all these commandments,” the young man said. “What else do I need to do?”
ਸ ਯੁਵਾ ਕਥਿਤਵਾਨ੍, ਆ ਬਾਲ੍ਯਾਦ੍ ਏਤਾਃ ਪਾਲਯਾਮਿ, ਇਦਾਨੀਂ ਕਿੰ ਨ੍ਯੂਨਮਾਸ੍ਤੇ?
21 Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, then go and sell your possessions, give the money to the poor, and you'll have treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me.”
ਤਤੋ ਯੀਸ਼ੁਰਵਦਤ੍, ਯਦਿ ਸਿੱਧੋ ਭਵਿਤੁੰ ਵਾਞ੍ਛਸਿ, ਤਰ੍ਹਿ ਗਤ੍ਵਾ ਨਿਜਸਰ੍ੱਵਸ੍ਵੰ ਵਿਕ੍ਰੀਯ ਦਰਿਦ੍ਰੇਭ੍ਯੋ ਵਿਤਰ, ਤਤਃ ਸ੍ਵਰ੍ਗੇ ਵਿੱਤੰ ਲਪ੍ਸ੍ਯਸੇ; ਆਗੱਛ, ਮਤ੍ਪਸ਼੍ਚਾਦ੍ਵਰ੍ੱਤੀ ਚ ਭਵ|
22 When the young man heard Jesus' answer he went away very sad, because he had many possessions.
ਏਤਾਂ ਵਾਚੰ ਸ਼੍ਰੁਤ੍ਵਾ ਸ ਯੁਵਾ ਸ੍ਵੀਯਬਹੁਸਮ੍ਪੱਤੇ ਰ੍ਵਿਸ਼਼ਣਃ ਸਨ੍ ਚਲਿਤਵਾਨ੍|
23 “I tell you the truth,” Jesus said to his disciples, “rich people find it hard to enter the kingdom of heaven.
ਤਦਾ ਯੀਸ਼ੁਃ ਸ੍ਵਸ਼ਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਾਨ੍ ਅਵਦਤ੍, ਧਨਿਨਾਂ ਸ੍ਵਰ੍ਗਰਾਜ੍ਯਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ੋ ਮਹਾਦੁਸ਼਼੍ਕਰ ਇਤਿ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਨਹੰ ਤਥ੍ਯੰ ਵਦਾਮਿ|
24 I also tell you this: It's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”
ਪੁਨਰਪਿ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਨਹੰ ਵਦਾਮਿ, ਧਨਿਨਾਂ ਸ੍ਵਰ੍ਗਰਾਜ੍ਯਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ਾਤ੍ ਸੂਚੀਛਿਦ੍ਰੇਣ ਮਹਾਙ੍ਗਗਮਨੰ ਸੁਕਰੰ|
25 When the disciples heard this, they were very surprised, and asked, “So who can be saved?”
ਇਤਿ ਵਾਕ੍ਯੰ ਨਿਸ਼ਮ੍ਯ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਾ ਅਤਿਚਮਤ੍ਕ੍ਰੁʼਤ੍ਯ ਕਥਯਾਮਾਸੁਃ; ਤਰ੍ਹਿ ਕਸ੍ਯ ਪਰਿਤ੍ਰਾਣੰ ਭਵਿਤੁੰ ਸ਼ਕ੍ਨੋਤਿ?
26 Jesus looked at them and said, “From a human point of view it's impossible, but all things are possible with God.”
ਤਦਾ ਸ ਤਾਨ੍ ਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼਼੍ਦ੍ਵਾ ਕਥਯਾਮਾਸ, ਤਤ੍ ਮਾਨੁਸ਼਼ਾਣਾਮਸ਼ਕ੍ਯੰ ਭਵਤਿ, ਕਿਨ੍ਤ੍ਵੀਸ਼੍ਵਰਸ੍ਯ ਸਰ੍ੱਵੰ ਸ਼ਕ੍ਯਮ੍|
27 Peter answered him, “Look, we've left everything and followed you. What reward will we have?”
ਤਦਾ ਪਿਤਰਸ੍ਤੰ ਗਦਿਤਵਾਨ੍, ਪਸ਼੍ਯ, ਵਯੰ ਸਰ੍ੱਵੰ ਪਰਿਤ੍ਯਜ੍ਯ ਭਵਤਃ ਪਸ਼੍ਚਾਦ੍ਵਰ੍ੱਤਿਨੋ (ਅ)ਭਵਾਮ; ਵਯੰ ਕਿੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪ੍ਸ੍ਯਾਮਃ?
28 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth: when everything is remade and the Son of man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
ਤਤੋ ਯੀਸ਼ੁਃ ਕਥਿਤਵਾਨ੍, ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਨਹੰ ਤਥ੍ਯੰ ਵਦਾਮਿ, ਯੂਯੰ ਮਮ ਪਸ਼੍ਚਾਦ੍ਵਰ੍ੱਤਿਨੋ ਜਾਤਾ ਇਤਿ ਕਾਰਣਾਤ੍ ਨਵੀਨਸ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼਼੍ਟਿਕਾਲੇ ਯਦਾ ਮਨੁਜਸੁਤਃ ਸ੍ਵੀਯੈਸ਼੍ਚਰ੍ੱਯਸਿੰਹਾਸਨ ਉਪਵੇਕ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਿ, ਤਦਾ ਯੂਯਮਪਿ ਦ੍ਵਾਦਸ਼ਸਿੰਹਾਸਨੇਸ਼਼ੂਪਵਿਸ਼੍ਯ ਇਸ੍ਰਾਯੇਲੀਯਦ੍ਵਾਦਸ਼ਵੰਸ਼ਾਨਾਂ ਵਿਚਾਰੰ ਕਰਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਥ|
29 All those who because of me have left their homes, brothers, sisters, father, mother, children, and fields, will receive back a hundred times more, and will receive eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
ਅਨ੍ਯੱਚ ਯਃ ਕਸ਼੍ਚਿਤ੍ ਮਮ ਨਾਮਕਾਰਣਾਤ੍ ਗ੍ਰੁʼਹੰ ਵਾ ਭ੍ਰਾਤਰੰ ਵਾ ਭਗਿਨੀਂ ਵਾ ਪਿਤਰੰ ਵਾ ਮਾਤਰੰ ਵਾ ਜਾਯਾਂ ਵਾ ਬਾਲਕੰ ਵਾ ਭੂਮਿੰ ਪਰਿਤ੍ਯਜਤਿ, ਸ ਤੇਸ਼਼ਾਂ ਸ਼ਤਗੁਣੰ ਲਪ੍ਸ੍ਯਤੇ, ਅਨਨ੍ਤਾਯੁਮੋ(ਅ)ਧਿਕਾਰਿਤ੍ਵਞ੍ਚ ਪ੍ਰਾਪ੍ਸ੍ਯਤਿ| (aiōnios g166)
30 For many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.
ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਅਗ੍ਰੀਯਾ ਅਨੇਕੇ ਜਨਾਃ ਪਸ਼੍ਚਾਤ੍, ਪਸ਼੍ਚਾਤੀਯਾਸ਼੍ਚਾਨੇਕੇ ਲੋਕਾ ਅਗ੍ਰੇ ਭਵਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਨ੍ਤਿ|
