< Matthew 16 >
1 The Pharisees and Sadducees came to test Jesus, demanding that he show them a sign from heaven.
2 Jesus replied, “In the evening you say, ‘It'll be a fine day tomorrow, because the sky is red,’
Ọ zara ha, “Mgbe o ruru anyasị unu na-asị, ‘Ihu eluigwe ga-adị mma nʼihi na ọ na-acha uhie uhie.’
3 while in the morning you say, ‘It'll be bad weather today, because the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to predict the weather by what the sky looks like, but you can't recognize the signs of the times!
Nʼụtụtụ unu na-asị, ‘Anyị ga-enwe mmiri ozuzo taa nʼihi na ihu eluigwe na-acha uhie uhie ma na-eji oji.’ Lee na unu pụrụ ịkọwa ihu eluigwe, ma unu apụghị isite nʼihe ịrịbama ndị a unu na-ahụ anya kọwaa ihe oge a anyị nọ nʼime ya pụtara.
4 Evil people who don't trust in God are the ones who look for a miraculous sign, and no sign will be given to them except the sign of Jonah.” He left them and went away.
Ajọ ọgbọ nke jupụtara nʼịkwa iko, nke na-arịọkwa ihe ịrịbama. Ọ nweghị ihe ịrịbama ọzọ a ga-egosi ya karịa ihe ịrịbama Jona.” Mgbe ahụ ọ sitere nʼebe ahụ ha nọ pụọ.
5 Going to the other side of the lake, the disciples forgot to bring bread with them.
6 “Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees,” Jesus told them.
Nʼoge ahụ kwa, Jisọs dụrụ ha ọdụ sị ha, “Lezienụ anya, ma na-ezekwa ihe ndị na-eko achịcha ndị Farisii na ndị Sadusii.”
7 The disciples started arguing among themselves. “He's saying that because we didn't bring any bread,” they concluded.
Ha malitere na-ekwurịta nʼetiti onwe ha, na-asị, ọ bụ nʼihi na anyị ewetaghị ogbe achịcha ọbụla.
8 Jesus knew what they were saying and said, “You have so little trust in me! Why are you arguing among yourselves about not having any bread?
Ebe ọ bụ na Jisọs matara ihe ha na-eche, ọ sịrị, “Unu ndị okwukwe nta! Gịnị mere unu ji na-esogbu onwe unu nʼihi na unu enweghị achịcha?
9 Haven't you worked it out yet? Don't you remember the five loaves that fed five thousand? How many baskets of leftovers did you collect?
Olee mgbe unu ga-amata ihe? Ọ bụ na unu echetaghị puku mmadụ ise ahụ m jiri ogbe achịcha ise mee ka ha rijuo afọ? Ọ bụ nkata ole ka unu tụtụjuru?
10 And what about the seven loaves that fed the four thousand? How many baskets of leftovers did you collect?
11 Haven't you worked it out yet that I wasn't talking to you about bread? Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees!”
12 Then they realized that he wasn't warning them to watch out for bread yeast, but about the teachings of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Mgbe ahụ ka ha ghọtara na ihe ọ na-akọwara ha abụghị ihe banyere ihe na-eko achịcha nke a na-ata ata, kama ọ bụ ihe banyere ozizi ndị Farisii na ndị Sadusii.
13 When Jesus arrived in the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of man is?”
Mgbe Jisọs bịaruru obodo a na-akpọ Sizaria Filipai, ọ jụrụ ndị na-eso ụzọ ya ajụjụ sị ha, “Onye ka ndị mmadụ na-asị na Nwa nke Mmadụ bụ?”
14 “Some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets,” they replied.
Ha zara ya sị, “Ụfọdụ na-asị na ị bụ Jọn omee baptizim, ụfọdụ na-asị na ị bụ Ịlaịja, ndị ọzọ na-asịkwa na ị bụ Jeremaya, maọbụ otu nʼime ndị amụma.”
15 “But what about you?” he asked them. “Who do you say I am?”
Ọ jụrụ ha sị, “Ma unu onwe unu, ọ bụ onye ka unu na-asị na m bụ?”
16 “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God,” Simon Peter replied.
Saimọn Pita zara sị ya, “Ị bụ Kraịst ahụ, Ọkpara Chineke dị ndụ.”
17 “You are truly blessed, Simon son of John,” Jesus told him. “For this wasn't revealed to you by human flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.
18 I also tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church and the powers of death won't overcome it. (Hadēs )
Ma mụ onwe m na-agwa gị, na gị onwe gị bụ Pita. Ọ bụkwa nʼelu nkume a ka m ga-ewu ụlọ chọọchị m. Ike niile nke ọkụ ala mmụọ apụghịkwa iguzo megide ya. (Hadēs )
19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you ban on earth will be banned in heaven, and whatever you allow on earth will be allowed in heaven.”
Aga m enye gị mkpisi igodo alaeze eluigwe. Ihe ọbụla ị ga-eke agbụ nʼelu ụwa, ka a ga-ekekwa agbụ nʼeluigwe. Ihe ọbụla ị ga-atọpụ nʼagbụ nʼụwa, a ga-atọpụkwa ya nʼeluigwe.”
20 Then he warned his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.
21 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he would have to go Jerusalem, and that he would suffer terribly at the hands of the elders, chief priests, and religious teachers; and that he would be killed, but he would rise again on the third day.
Site nʼoge ahụ Jisọs malitere ịkọwara ndị na-eso ụzọ ya, na ya aghaghị ịga Jerusalem, ebe ọ ga-ahụ ọtụtụ ahụhụ dị iche iche site nʼaka ndị okenye, na ndịisi nchụaja, na ndị ozizi iwu. O mere ka ha mata na aghaghị igbu ya, ma nʼụbọchị nke atọ, a ga-eme ka o site nʼọnwụ bilie.
22 Peter took Jesus aside and started to tell him he shouldn't talk like that. “God forbid, Lord, that this would ever happen to you!” he said.
Pita duuru ya pụọ nʼotu akụkụ, nọdụ nʼebe ahụ baara ya mba sị ya, “Onyenwe m, Chineke ekwela. Ihe ndị a agaghị adakwasị gị!”
23 Jesus turned to Peter, and told him, “Get away from me, Satan! You are a trap to trip me up, because you're thinking in a human way, and not as God thinks!”
Ma o chigharịrị sị Pita, “Si nʼebe m nọ pụọ, ekwensu! Ị bụ ihe mgbochi nye m. Nʼihi na ihe ị na-eche echiche ya bụ naanị echiche mmadụ, ọ bụghị uche Chineke.”
24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If you want to be a follower of mine, you must deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow me.
25 For if you want to save your life you will lose it, and if you lose your life for my sake you will save it.
26 What benefit is it for you to gain the whole world, yet lose your life? What would you give in exchange for your life?
27 For the Son of man is going to come in his Father's glory, together with his angels. Then he will give everyone what they deserve according to what they've done.
Nʼihi na Nwa nke Mmadụ ga-abịa nʼebube nke Nna ya, ya na ndị mmụọ ozi ya. Mgbe ahụ ka ọ ga-ekpe onye ọbụla ikpe dị ka ọrụ ya si dị.
28 I tell you the truth, there are some standing here who won't die before they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.”
“Nʼezie asị m unu, ụfọdụ nʼime ndị guzo nʼebe, agaghị edetụ ọnwụ ire, tụpụ ha ahụ Nwa nke Mmadụ ka ọ na-abịa nʼalaeze ya.”
