Malachi 2
1 Now this command is for you priests!
Därför kommer nu följande bud till eder, I präster.
2 If you will not listen and if you will not take it to heart to honor me, says the Lord Almighty, then I will place a curse on you and I will curse your blessings—in fact I have already cursed them because you haven't taken what I said to heart.
Om I icke hörsammen det och akten därpå, så att I given mitt namn ära, säger HERREN Sebaot, så skall jag sända förbannelse över eder och förbanna edra välsignelser; ja, jag har redan förbannat dem, eftersom I icke akten därpå.
3 Watch out! I am going to penalize your descendants. I will spread manure on your faces from the animals you sacrifice, the manure from your religious festivals, and you will be thrown out with it.
Se, jag skall låta min näpst drabba eder avkomma, och jag skall kasta orenlighet i ansiktet på eder, orenligheten efter edra högtidsoffer; ja, I skolen själva bliva kastade i denna.
4 Then you will know that I sent you this command so that my agreement with Levi can continue, says the Lord Almighty.
Då skolen I förstå, att jag har sänt till eder detta bud, för att mitt förbund med Levi skall bestå, säger HERREN Sebaot.
5 My agreement with him was one of life and peace, which I gave to him, and respect—he respected me. He stood in awe of me.
Jag hade ett förbund med honom, och däri var liv och frid. Sådant gav jag åt honom, för att han skulle frukta mig; och han fruktade mig och bävade för mitt namn.
6 He taught the people the truth; nothing in his teaching was false. He walked with me in peace and did what was right, and he helped many to turn way from sin.
Rätt undervisning var i hans mun, och ingen orätt fanns på hans läppar; fridsamt och redligt vandrade han i min umgängelse och omvände många från missgärning.
7 A priest should explain the truth about God, they should go to him to be taught, for he is the Lord Almighty's messenger.
Ty prästens läppar skola förvara kunskap, och undervisning skall man hämta ur hans mun; han är ju HERREN Sebaots sändebud.
8 But you have turned from my way. You have made many people to fall into sin. By your teaching you have broken the agreement with Levi, says the Lord Almighty.
Men I haven vikit av ifrån vägen; genom eder undervisning haven I kommit många på fall. I haven fördärvat förbundet med Levi, säger HERREN Sebaot.
9 So I have destroyed any respect you had, and humiliated you before all the people. For you have not kept my ways, and have shown favoritism in what you teach.
Därför har ock jag gjort eder föraktade och låga i allt folkets ögon, eftersom I icke hållen mina vägar, utan haven anseende till personen, när I handhaven undervisningen.
10 Don't we all have one Father? Didn't one God create us? So why are we unfaithful to each other, violating the agreement made by our forefathers?
Hava vi icke alla en och samma fader? Har icke en och samma Gud skapat oss? Varför handla vi då trolöst mot varandra och bryta våra fäders förbund?
11 The people of Judah have been unfaithful and have committed a disgusting sin in Israel and Jerusalem. For the men of Judah have defiled the Lord's Temple (which he loves) by marrying women who worship idols.
Juda har handlat trolöst, och styggelse är bedriven i Israel och i Jerusalem; ty Juda har oskärat HERRENS helgedom, den som han älskar, och de hava tagit till äkta kvinnor, som dyrka främmande gudar.
12 May the Lord expel the family of any man who does this from the nation of Israel! May there be no one left to bring an offering to the Lord Almighty!
Hos den man som så gör må HERREN utrota var levande själ ur Jakobs hyddor, jämväl den som frambär offergåvor till HERREN Sebaot.
13 Something else you do is to pour out your tears on the Lord's altar weeping and moaning because he no longer pays attention to your offerings or doesn't want to accept them.
Och ännu något annat gören I: I vållen, att HERRENS altare höljes med tårar, med gråt och klagan, så att han icke mer vill se till offergåvorna, ej heller med välbehag kan taga emot något ur eder hand.
14 “Why not?” you ask. Because the Lord witnessed the vows you and your wife exchanged when you were young. You were unfaithful to her, your wife and partner joined to you by marriage contract.
Nu frågen I: "Huru så?" Jo, HERREN var ju vittne mellan dig och din ungdoms hustru, henne som du nu har varit trolös emot, fastän hon är din maka, din äkta hustru.
15 Did he not make you one, and give some of his Spirit to you? And what does he want? Children of God. So watch what you do, and don't be unfaithful to the wife you married when you were young.
Hava vi då icke en och samma skapare, den, i vilkens hand det står, att vår ande bevaras? Och vad vill nu denne ene? Han vill ju hava ett gudaktigt släkte. Tagen eder därför väl till vara, så att ingen bliver trolös mot sin ungdoms hustru.
16 For I hate divorce, says the Lord God of Israel, for it's a violent attack on the wife, says the Lord Almighty. So watch what you do, and don't be unfaithful.
Ty jag hatar äktenskapsskillnad, säger HERREN, Israels Gud, och att man höljer sig i våld såsom i en överklädnad, säger HERREN Sebaot. Tagen eder därför väl till vara, så att I icke bliven trolösa.
17 You have worn the Lord out with your words. “How have we worn him out?” you ask. By saying everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the Lord and he is happy with them, or by asking, where is the Lord's justice?
I trötten ut HERREN med edert tal. Nu frågen I: "Varmed trötta vi då ut honom?" Jo, därmed att I sägen: "Den som gör ont är ändå god i HERRENS ögon, och till sådana har han behag. Ty varför kommer icke eljest domens Gud?"
