< Malachi 1 >

1 A prophecy: This message came from the Lord concerning Israel through Malachi.
Fetse: ty tsara’ Iehovà am’ Israele añamy Malaký.
2 I have loved you, says the Lord. But you ask, “How have you loved us?” Wasn't Esau Joseph's brother? the Lord responds. But I loved Joseph
Fa nikokoako nahareo, hoe t’Iehovà, le anoa’areo ty hoe: Ami’ty akore ty nikokoa’o anay? Aa tsy nirahalahi’ Iakobe hao t’i Esave? hoe t’Iehovà; fe nikokoako t’Iakobe,
3 and despised Esau. I have made Esau's mountain homeland into a wasteland, and turned his inheritance into a desert for jackals.
naho nihejeko t’i Esave, nampangoakoaheko o tamboho’eo, vaho natoloko amo farasim- patram-beio ty lova’e.
4 The people of Edom may be saying: “We have been beaten down, but we will rebuild the ruins.” But this is what the Lord Almighty says, They may try and build, but I will tear down. They will be called a land of wickedness, and the people those who make the Lord angry forever.
Ie amy zao, hoe ty asa’ i Edome: Finofok’ ambane zahay fe himpoly, hamboara’ay o liolioo; aa hoe t’Iehovà’ i Màroy: Hamboatse iereo, fe harotsako ambane; naho hatao tanem-piaroteñe i toetsey, ie ondaty mahaviñetse Iehovà nainai’eo;
5 You will see this destruction with your own eyes, and you will say, “The Lord is great, even beyond the borders of Israel.”
Ho isa’ o fihaino’areoo, vaho hanao ty hoe: Jabahinake t’Iehovà alafe’ o efe-tane’ Israeleo.
6 A son honors his father, and a servant respects his master. So if I am your father, where is my honor? If I am your master, where is my respect? says the Lord Almighty to you priests who show contempt for me. But you ask, “How have we shown contempt for you?”
Miasy an-drae’e ty ana-dahy, naho an-talè’e ty ondevo, aa kanao izaho t’i Rae, aia ty fiasiañe Ahiko? Katao Talè iraho, aia ty fañeveñañe amako? hoe t’Iehovà’ i Màroy amo mpisoroñe manirìka ty añarakoo. Ie anoa’areo ty hoe: Aia ty nanirikà’ay ty tahina’O?
7 By making defiled offerings on my altar. Then you ask, “How have we defiled you?” By saying the Lord's table doesn't deserve respect.
Ie mibanabana mofo maleotse amy kitrelikoy, naho manao ty hoe: Akore ty nanivà’ay Azo? Ie atao’ areo ty hoe: Mavo ty fandambaña’ Iehovà
8 When you offer a blind animal as a sacrifice, isn't that wrong? Or when you offer an animal that is crippled or sick, isn't that wrong? Would you give such gifts to your governor? Would he be pleased with you? Would he be kind and show favor to you? asks the Lord Almighty.
Ie mañenga ty goa hisoroñañe, tsy haloloañe hao? Ie engaeñe ty mikotrile naho ty aman-kandra, tsy haratiañe hao? Ibanabanao amy mpifehe’ areoy, hifalea’e hao? ho no’e hao irehe? hoe t’Iehovà’ i Màroy.
9 So why don't you try being kind to God, begging him to be merciful to you? But when you bring such offerings, why should he show favor to you? asks the Lord Almighty.
Ie amy zao, naho miambane hihalaly ty fañisohan’ Añahare, hiferenaiña’e hao? naho banabanae’areo izay? Ho rambese’e soa v’inahareo? Hoe t’Iehovà’ i Màroy:
10 I really wish one of you would shut the Temple doors to stop you lighting pointless fires on my altar! I am not pleased with you, says the Lord Almighty, and I will not accept offerings from you.
Ia ama’areo ty handrindriñe o lalakoo tsy mone ho viañeñe an-kitreliko eo ty tsy vente’e! Tsy mahafale ahy nahareo, hoe t’Iehovà’ i Màroy, vaho tsy noko o banabanam-pità’ areoo.
11 I am honored by nations from the farthest east to the distant west; everywhere people make offerings to me of incense and pure sacrifices. I am honored among the nations, says the Lord Almighty.
Amy te boak’am-panjirihan’ andro añe pak’am-pitsofora’e, le ra’elahy amo fifeheañeo ty añarako; amy ze fañembohañe naho fañengañe mahakama malio ami’ty añarako, fa Ra’elahy amo kilakila’ ondatio ty añarako, hoe t’Iehovà’ i Màroy.
12 But you dishonor me when you say the Lord's table doesn't deserve respect, and that its food can be treated with contempt.
F’ie teraterà’ areo, ami’ty atao’ areo ty hoe: Nivetàñe ty fandambaña’ i Talè, naho o vokare’eo, vaho tiva o mahakama’eo.
13 You say, “All this is too much trouble!” and you sniff scornfully at it, says the Lord Almighty. But when you bring animals that are stolen or crippled or sick and offer them as sacrifices, should I accept what you're giving? asks the Lord.
Mbore atao’ areo ty hoe: Hete! mahamokotse! mbore injè’ areo, hoe t’Iehovà’ i Màroy, endese’ areo ty nitavaneñe, ty mikotrile, naho ty boròka, vaho engae’ areo hisoroñañe, ho noko am-pità’areo hao? hoe t’Iehovà.
14 Cursed are those who cheat by vowing to bring a ram as a sacrifice and then offers an imperfect animal to the Lord. For I am a great King, says the Lord Almighty, and I am respected among the nations!
Fàtse ty mpikatramo, ie aman-kobatròke amy lia-rai’ey, le ie mifanta: i aman-kàndray ty engae’e amy Talè, Izaho Mpanjaka ra’elahy, hoe t’Iehovà’ i Màroy, naho añeveñañe amo fifeheañeo ty añarako.
