< Leviticus 11 >
1 The Lord told Moses and Aaron,
Senyè a te pale ankò a Moïse avèk Aaron, e Li te di yo:
2 “Give these instructions to the Israelites. These are the animals you are allowed to eat:
“Pale avèk fis Israël yo. Di yo: ‘Sa yo se kreyati ke nou kapab manje pami tout bèt ki sou latè yo.
3 any animal that both has a divided hoof and also chews the cud.
4 However, if it either chews the cud, or has a divided hoof, then you may not eat it. These include: the camel, which though it chews the cud doesn't have a divided hoof, so it is unclean for you.
“‘Sepandan, nou pa pou manje nan sa yo, pami sila ki remoute manje e ki gen zago ki fann yo: chamo, paske malgre li remoute manje, li pa divize zago; li pa pwòp pou nou.
5 The rock hyrax, which though it chews the cud doesn't have a divided hoof, so it is unclean for you.
Menm jan an, daman an, paske malgre li remoute manje, li pa divize zago, li pa pwòp pou nou;
6 The hare, which though it chews the cud doesn't have a divided hoof, so it is unclean for you.
Lapèn tou, paske malgre li remoute manje, li pa divize zago; li pa pwòp pou nou.
7 The pig, which though it has a divided hoof doesn't chew the cud, so it is unclean for you.
Epi kochon an, paske malgre li divize zago, ki fè l yon zago fann, li pa remoute manje li; li pa pwòp pou nou.
8 You are not to eat their meat or touch their bead bodies. They are unclean for you.
Nou pa pou manje chè yo, ni touche kadav yo; yo pa pwòp pou nou.
9 You are allowed to eat any creature with fins and scales that lives in the water, whether in the sea or in fresh water.
“‘Sa yo nou kapab manje, nenpòt sa ki nan dlo: tout sa ki gen zèl ak kal, sa yo ki nan dlo, nan lanmè oswa nan rivyè, nou kapab manje yo.
10 But you are not allowed to eat any of the many creatures that don't have fins and scales that live in the water, whether in the sea or in fresh water.
11 They are repulsive. You must not eat their meat, and you must treat their dead bodies as repulsive.
Konsa, yo va abominab pou nou. Nou pa pou manje chè yo, ak kadav yo. Nou va deteste yo.
12 All such water creatures that don't have fins and scales are to be repulsive to you.
13 As for the birds, these must not be eaten because they are repulsive: eagle, griffon vulture, bearded vulture,
“‘Sa yo, anplis, nou va deteste pami zwazo yo; yo abominab, yo pa pou manje: èg, òfrè, avèk èg lanmè,
14 buzzard, kite and similar birds of prey,
malfini, karanklou avèk tout espès li yo,
kòbo, avèk tout espès li yo,
16 tawny owl, long-eared owl, gulls, any kind of hawk,
otrich avèk janmichèt, poul dlo, malfini avèk tout espès li yo,
17 little owl, fish owl, eagle owl,
koukou, plonjon ak frize,
18 barn owl, desert owl, Egyptian vulture,
gwo kana mawon blan, pelikan, chwèt,
19 storks and any kind of heron, hoopoe, and bats.
sigòy, krabye avèk tout espès li, chòchòt ak sèpantye.
20 All flying insects that crawl are repulsive to you.
“‘Tout ensèk avèk zèl ki mache sou kat pye abominab pou nou.
21 But you can eat the following kinds of flying insects that crawl: those that have jointed legs they use to jump.
22 So in this category you can eat any kind of locust, bald locust, cricket, or grasshopper.
Sa ladan yo, nou kapab manje: krikèt chan avèk tout espès li, krikèt voras avèk tout espès li yo, krikèt kay avèk tout espès li yo, e krikèt volan avèk tout espès li yo.
23 All other flying insects that crawl are repulsive to you,
Men tout lòt ensèk a zèl ki gen kat pye abominab pou nou.
24 and will make you unclean. If you touch their dead bodies you will be unclean until the evening,
“‘Anplis, pa bagay sila yo, nou vin pa pwòp: nenpòt moun ki touche kadav yo vin pa pwòp jis rive nan aswè.
25 and if you pick up one of their dead bodies you must wash your clothes, and you will be unclean until the evening.
Nenpòt moun ki ranmase kadav li yo va lave rad li e li va rete pa pwòp jis rive nan aswè.
26 Every animal with hooves that are not divided, or that does not chew the cud, is unclean for you. If you touch any of them you will be unclean.
“‘Tout zannimo avèk zago ki divize, men ki pa fann nèt, oswa ki pa remoute manje yo, yo pa pwòp pou nou. Nenpòt moun ki touche yo vin pa pwòp.
27 Any four-legged animal that walks on its paws are unclean for you. If you touch their dead bodies you will be unclean until the evening,
Nenpòt zannimo ki mache sou pat li; pami tout kreyati ki mache sou kat pat yo, yo pa pwòp pou nou. Nenpòt moun ki touche kadav li yo vin pa pwòp jis rive nan aswè.
28 and if you pick up one of their dead bodies you must wash your clothes, and you will be unclean until the evening. They are unclean for you.
Sila ki ranmase kadav yo va lave rad yo, e yo va rete pa pwòp jis rive nan aswè. Yo pa pwòp pou nou.
29 The following animals that run along the ground are unclean for you: rats, mice, any kind of large lizard,
“‘Men sa ki pa pwòp pou nou pami bagay ki trennen atè yo: zagoudi, sourit, gran leza ak tout espès li yo,
30 gecko, monitor lizard, wall lizard, skinks, and chameleon.
zandolit, gwo kayiman, zandolit gongolo avèk kameleyon.
31 These animals that run along the ground are unclean for you. If you touch a dead one of them you will be unclean until the evening.
32 Anything that one of them dies and lands on becomes unclean. Whatever it is—something made of wood, clothing, leather, sackcloth, or any work tool—it must be washed with water and will be unclean until the evening. Then it will become clean.
Nenpòt bagay sou li ke youn nan yo ta tonbe lè l mouri, bagay sa a va vin pa pwòp, enkli nenpòt bagay an bwa, vètman, po, yon sak—nenpòt bagay pou itilizasyon li fèt la—li va mete nan dlo, li va rete pa pwòp jis rive nan aswè, e apre sa li va vin pwòp ankò.
33 If one of them falls into a clay pot, all that's in it becomes unclean. You must smash the pot.
Osi, pou nenpòt veso ki fèt avèk ajil kote yon bèt ta tonbe; nenpòt bagay ki ladann va vin pa pwòp. Epi nou va kraze veso a.
34 If water from that pot touches any food, that food becomes unclean, and any drink from a pot like that also becomes unclean.
35 Anything that one of their dead bodies falls on becomes unclean. If it's an oven or a stove, it must be smashed. It is permanently unclean for you.
Anplis, tout bagay ladann yon pati nan kadav bèt la ta kapab tonbe, li vin pa pwòp; yon chodyè oswa yon fou va kraze an mòso. Yo pa pwòp e yo va kontinye rete pa pwòp pou nou.
36 On the other hand, if it's a spring or cistern containing water then it will remain clean, but if you touch one of these dead bodies in it you will be unclean.
Sepandan, yon sitèn oswa yon sous va rete pwòp, malgre ke sila ki touche kadav bèt yo va pa pwòp.
37 Similarly, if one of their dead bodies falls on any seed used for sowing, the seed remains clean;
Si yon pati nan kadav yo vin tonbe sou nenpòt semans ki dwe plante, li toujou pwòp.
38 but if the seed has been soaked in water and one of their dead bodies falls on it, it is unclean for you.
Men si dlo vin sou grenn semans lan, e yon pati nan kadav la tonbe sou li, li vin pa pwòp pou nou.
39 If an animal that you are allowed to eat dies, anyone who touches the dead body will be unclean until the evening.
“‘Si youn nan bèt ki pwòp pou manje yo, vin mouri, moun ki touche kadav li a vin pa pwòp jis rive nan aswè.
40 If you eat anything from the dead body you must wash your clothes and you will be unclean until the evening. If you pick up the dead body you must wash your clothes and you will be unclean until the evening.
Sila a tou, ki manje kèk nan kadav li a va lave rad li, li va rete pa pwòp jis rive nan aswè. Anplis sila ki ranmase kadav li a va lave rad li, e li va rete pa pwòp jis rive nan aswè.
41 Every animal that crawls along the ground is repulsive—you must not eat it.
“‘Alò, tout bagay trennen ki trennen atè abominab, li pa pou manje.
42 Don't eat any animal that crawls along the ground, whether it moves on its belly or walks on four feet or many feet. All such animals are repulsive.
43 Don't defile yourselves by any such crawling animal. Don't make yourselves unclean or defiled by them,
44 because I am the Lord your God; so dedicate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy. Don't defile yourselves by any animal that crawls along the ground.
Paske Mwen se SENYÈ a, Bondye nou an.
45 I am the Lord who led you out of Egypt so that I could be your God. So be holy, because I am holy.
46 These are the regulations about animals, birds, everything that lives in the water, and all animals that crawl along the ground.
“‘Sa se lalwa sou bèt ak zwazo, tout bagay vivan ki kouri nan dlo ak tout bagay ki trennen atè,
47 You must recognize the difference between unclean and clean, between those animals that can be eaten and those that can't.”
