< Lamentations 5 >
1 Lord, please remember what's happened to us. Look at us and see how we've been humiliated!
2 The land we used to own has been handed over to strangers, our houses have been given to foreigners.
Peyi nou an nan men moun lòt nasyon! Yo pran kay nou pou yo.
3 We have lost our fathers, and our mothers are widows.
Nou se timoun san papa. Manman nou tankou fanm ki pèdi mari yo.
4 The water we drink we have to pay for; our firewood comes at a price.
Se achte pou n' achte dlo pou nou bwè. Si nou pa gen lajan, nou pa jwenn bwa pou nou boule.
5 Like animals we're driven along with harnesses around our necks; we're worn out but don't find any rest.
N'ap travay di tankou bourik, tankou bèf kabwa. Nou bouke, nou pa ka pran kanpo.
6 We allied ourselves with Egypt and Assyria so we could have plenty of food.
Pou nou ka jwenn manje pou nou manje nou blije ap lonje men bay peyi Lejip ak peyi Lasiri.
7 Our forefathers sinned and they're gone, but we're being punished for their sins.
Zansèt nou yo fè peche. Yo pa la ankò! Se nou menm k'ap peye pou sa yo te fè.
8 Servants of our conqueror rule over us; no one can save us from their power.
Moun k'ap gouvènen nou yo se esklav yo ye. Pesonn pa ka delivre nou anba men yo.
9 We take our lives in our hands when we look for food, because of the armed raiders in the desert.
Ansasen toupatou nan peyi a.
10 Our skin is hot like an oven because of the fever caused by hunger.
Grangou ban nou lafyèb. Kò nou cho kou dife.
11 They raped women in Zion, virgins in the towns of Judah.
Yo fè kadejak sou madanm nou sou mòn Siyon an. Nan tout ti bouk peyi Jida yo yo kenbe pitit fi nou yo.
12 Princes have been hung up by their hands; they show elders no respect.
Yo pran chèf nou yo, yo pann yo. Yo derespekte granmoun nou yo.
13 Young men are forced to work at hand-mills; boys stagger under bundles of wood.
Yo fòse jenn gason nou yo rale moulen. Ti gason nou yo ap titibe anba gwo chay bwa.
14 The elders have abandoned their places at the city gate; the young men have given up playing their music.
Granmoun yo pa chita nan pòtay lavil la ankò. Jennmoun nou yo pa chante ankò.
15 There's no more happiness for us; our dancing has turned into mourning.
Pa gen kè kontan lakay nou. Nou pa danse ankò! Lapenn plen kè nou!
16 The crown has fallen from our head. What a disaster has come upon us because we have sinned!
17 Because of all this, we're sick at heart; because of all these things, we can hardly look;
Nou malad nan fon kè nou, nou pa ka wè tèlman n'ap kriye,
18 Because of Mount Zion, which has been abandoned, and where only foxes roam.
paske mòn Siyon an tounen savann. Se bèt nan bwa ase ki rete la.
19 But you, Lord, live forever! You rule for all generations!
Men ou menm, Seyè, ou wa pou tou tan. W'ap gouvènen jouk sa kaba.
20 So why have you forgotten us for such a long time? Why have you abandoned us for so many years?
21 Bring us back to you, Lord, so we can be with you again. Please remake our lives like they used to be.
Seyè, fè nou tounen vin jwenn ou non! Fè nou tounen vin jwenn ou! Fè nou viv jan nou te konn viv nan tan lontan an non!
22 Or have you have completely rejected us? Are you still really furious with us?
