< Lamentations 5 >
1 Lord, please remember what's happened to us. Look at us and see how we've been humiliated!
BOEIPA aw poek lamtah kaimih taengkah aka thoeng te paelki laeh. Paelki lamtah kaimih sokah kokhahnah he hmu lah.
2 The land we used to own has been handed over to strangers, our houses have been given to foreigners.

3 We have lost our fathers, and our mothers are widows.
Cadah la ka om uh tih nuhmai bangla ka manu napa a om moenih.
4 The water we drink we have to pay for; our firewood comes at a price.
Kamamih tui ha tangka neh ka ok uh tih kamamih kah thing ha a phu daengah ha pawk.
5 Like animals we're driven along with harnesses around our necks; we're worn out but don't find any rest.
Ka rhawn ah n'hloem uh vaengah ka kohnue uh pawt bangla kaimih he n'duem sak pawh.
6 We allied ourselves with Egypt and Assyria so we could have plenty of food.

7 Our forefathers sinned and they're gone, but we're being punished for their sins.
A pa rhoek khaw tholh uh tih kaimih taengah a om voel moenih. Tedae kaimih loh amih kathaesainah te ka phueih uh.
8 Servants of our conqueror rule over us; no one can save us from their power.
Sal rhoekkaimih soah n'taemrhai uh tih amih kut lamkah aka bawt om pawh.
9 We take our lives in our hands when we look for food, because of the armed raiders in the desert.
Khosoek cunghang hmai ah ka hinglu nen ni ka buh ka dang uh.
10 Our skin is hot like an oven because of the fever caused by hunger.
Khokha rhamling hmai ah ka vin khaw hmaiulh bangla tloo coeng.
11 They raped women in Zion, virgins in the towns of Judah.
Zion kah huta rhoek neh Judah khopuei kah oila rhoek khaw a tholh puei uh.
12 Princes have been hung up by their hands; they show elders no respect.
Amih kut neh mangpa rhoek a kuiok sak tih patong rhoek kah maelhmai khaw hiin uh pawh.
13 Young men are forced to work at hand-mills; boys stagger under bundles of wood.
Tongpang rhoek loh phaklung a phueih uh tih camoe rhoek te thingpum dongah paloe uh.
14 The elders have abandoned their places at the city gate; the young men have given up playing their music.
Vongka lamkah patong rhoek neh, tongpang rhoek khaw a rhotoeng lamloh kangkuen uh.
15 There's no more happiness for us; our dancing has turned into mourning.
Kaimih lungbuei kah omthennah he kangkuen coeng tih kaimih kah lamnah khaw nguekcoinah la poeh.
16 The crown has fallen from our head. What a disaster has come upon us because we have sinned!
Kamih lu kah rhuisam khaw yulh coeng. Anunae ka tholh uh khaw kaimih ham coeng ni.
17 Because of all this, we're sick at heart; because of all these things, we can hardly look;
Te dongah ko kaimih lungbuei he pumthim hainak la coeng. He dongah kaimih kah maelhmai khaw hmuep.
18 Because of Mount Zion, which has been abandoned, and where only foxes roam.

19 But you, Lord, live forever! You rule for all generations!
