Joshua 14

1 This was the land that was allotted to the Israelites to own in the land of Canaan by Eleazar the priest, Joshua, son of Nun, and the leaders of the tribes.

Und dies ist, was die Söhne Israels im Lande Kanaan als Erbe erhielten, das ihnen zum Erbe verteilten Eleasar, der Priester, und Joschua, der Sohn Nuns, und die Häupter der Väter der Stämme, der Söhne Israels.

2 The decision regarding the land division among the nine and a half tribes was made by casting lots, as the Lord had instructed Moses.

Durch das Los, wie Jehovah durch Mose geboten hatte, verteilten sie das Erbe den neun Stämmen und dem halben Stamm.

3 Moses had allotted land to the two and a half tribes east of the Jordan but he had made no allocation to the Levites among them.

Denn Mose hatte den zwei Stämmen und dem halben Stamm das Erbe jenseits des Jordans gegeben, und den Leviten gab er kein Erbe in ihrer Mitte.

4 The descendants of Joseph had become two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim. The Levites were not given any land, only towns to live in and pasture for their flocks and herds.

Denn die Söhne Josephs wurden zwei Stämme: Menascheh und Ephraim; und den Leviten gaben sie keinen Teil im Lande, sondern Städte zum Wohnen und deren Weichbilde für ihre Viehherden und ihren Besitz.

5 So the Israelites followed the instructions the Lord had given Moses in allocating the land.

Wie Jehovah Mose geboten hatte, so taten die Söhne Israels und verteilten das Land.

6 Leaders from the tribe of Judah approached Joshua at Gilgal, and Caleb, son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, said to him, “You remember what the Lord told Moses, the man of God, at Kadesh-barnea about me and you.

Und die Söhne Judahs traten herzu zu Joschua in Gilgal; und Kaleb, der Sohn Jephunnehs, der Kenissite, sprach zu ihm: Du weißt das Wort, das Jehovah zu Mose, dem Manne Gottes, in Kadesch Barnea meinetwegen und deinetwegen geredet hat.

7 I was forty when Moses, the servant of God, sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land. When I returned I told the truth in my report.

Vierzig Jahre war ich alt, als Mose der Knecht Jehovahs, mich aus Kadesch Barnea sandte, das Land auszukundschaften, und ich brachte ihm Nachricht zurück, wie es in meinem Herzen war.

8 But those who went with me made our people afraid. However, I have faithfully followed the Lord my God.

Aber meine Brüder, die mit mir hinaufgezogen waren, machten das Herz des Volkes zerschmelzen; ich aber folgte Jehovah, meinem Gotte, völlig.

9 At that time Moses made a solemn promise, telling me, ‘The land where you have walked will belong to you and your children forever, because you faithfully followed the Lord my God.’

Und Mose schwur selbigen Tages und sprach: Fürwahr, das Land, das dein Fuß betreten hat, soll dir und deinen Söhnen zum Erbe sein ewiglich; denn du folgtest Jehovah, meinem Gotte, völlig.

10 Look—the Lord has kept me alive these past forty-five years as he promised, from the time the Lord told Moses this while Israel was wandering in the wilderness. Now I'm eighty-five,

Und nun siehe, Jehovah hat mich am Leben erhalten, wie Er geredet hat, diese fünfundvierzig Jahre, seit Jehovah dies Wort geredet hat zu Mose, da Israel in der Wüste zog, und nun siehe, ich bin diesen Tag fünfundachtzig Jahre alt.

11 but I'm still as strong today as when Moses sent me out. I'm as strong and ready for battle or for whatever may come as I was then.

Noch bin ich diesen Tag so stark, wie am Tage, da Mose mich sandte; wie meine Kraft war damals, so ist meine Kraft jetzt, zum Streit, zum Ausgang und zum Eingang.

12 So give me the hill country that the Lord spoke about. You heard at that time about the descendants of Anak who lived there in large, fortified towns. If the Lord is with me I will drive them out as the Lord promised.”

Und nun, gib mir diesen Berg, davon Jehovah an selbigem Tag geredet hat. Denn du hast an demselben Tage gehört, daß Enakim dort sind, und große, feste Städte. Vielleicht ist Jehovah mit mir, daß ich sie austreibe, wie Jehovah geredet hat.

13 So Joshua blessed Caleb and granted him ownership of Hebron.

Und Joschua segnete ihn und gab Chebron dem Kaleb, dem Sohne Jephunnehs, zum Erbe.

14 So Hebron belonged to Caleb, son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, from that day to this because he had faithfully followed the Lord, the God of Israel.

Deshalb ward Chebron dem Kaleb, dem Sohne Jephunnehs, dem Kenissiten zum Erbe bis auf diesen Tag, darum, daß er Jehovah, dem Gotte Israels, völlig gefolgt.

15 (Hebron was formerly called Kiriath-arba, named after a great leader of the descendants of Anak.) And the land was at peace.

Und der Name Chebron war vordem Kirjath Arbah, eines Menschen, der groß war unter den Enakim; und das Land rastete vom Krieg.
