Jonah 3
1 Then the Lord spoke to Jonah for a second time.
১তাৰ পাছত দ্বিতীয়বাৰৰ বাবে যিহোৱাৰ বাক্য যোনাৰ ওচৰলৈ আহিল।
2 “Go immediately to the great city of Nineveh and announce the message I'm giving you.”
২তেওঁ ক’লে, “তুমি উঠি সেই মহানগৰ নীনবিলৈ যোৱা আৰু মই যি কথা তোমাক ক’বলৈ দিম, সেই কথা তাত ঘোষণা কৰিবা।”
3 Jonah did what God told him. He set out and went to Nineveh, a city that was so big it took three days to walk through it.
৩তেতিয়া যোনাই যিহোৱাৰ কথা অনুসাৰে নীনবিলৈ গ’ল। নীনবি এখন অতি ডাঙৰ নগৰ আছিল; গোটেই নগৰখন ঘূৰিবলৈ তিনি দিনৰ সময় লাগে।
4 Jonah went into the city, walking for one day, shouting out, “In forty days Nineveh will be destroyed!”
৪যোনাই সেই নগৰত সোমাই এদিনৰ বাট গ’ল আৰু এই কথা ঘোষণা কৰিলে, “চল্লিশ দিনৰ পাছত নীনবি ধ্বংস হৈ যাব।”
5 The people of Nineveh believed in God. They announced a fast, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.
৫তেতিয়া নীনবিৰ লোকসকলে ঈশ্বৰক বিশ্বাস কৰিলে আৰু তাৰ কাৰণে উপবাস ঘোষণা কৰিলে; ডাঙৰৰ পৰা সৰুলৈকে সকলোৱে চট্ কাপোৰ পিন্ধিলে।
6 When the news of what was happening reached the king of Nineveh he came down from his throne, took off his robe, put on sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
৬শীঘ্রেই সেই খবৰ গৈ ৰজাৰ কাণত পৰিল। তেতিয়া তেওঁ সিংহাসন এৰি উঠি আহিল আৰু গাৰ পৰা ৰাজবস্ত্ৰ সোলোকাই চট্ কাপোৰ পিন্ধি ছাঁইত বহিল।
7 Then the king and the nobles issued a proclamation throughout Nineveh: “No person, no animal, no herd, and no flock, shall eat or drink anything.
৭তাৰ পাছত তেওঁ নীনবিত তেওঁৰ আৰু তেওঁৰ মন্ত্ৰীসকলৰ যোগেদি এই আদেশ ঘোষণা কৰালে: “মানুহ বা পশু, গৰু বা মেৰ-ছাগৰ জাক কোনেও একো বস্তুৰ আস্বাদ নলওক; আহাৰ কি পানী নাখাওঁক।
8 Every person and every animal is to wear sackcloth. Everyone is to pray sincerely to God, give up the evil things they do, and stop using violence.
৮মানুহ আৰু পশু সকলোৱে গাত চট্ কাপোৰ পিন্ধক আৰু ঈশ্বৰৰ আগত উচ্চ স্বৰেৰে কাতৰোক্তি কৰক। প্ৰত্যেকে নিজ নিজ মন্দ পথৰ পৰা ঘূৰক আৰু হিংস্রতাৰ কার্য এৰি দিয়ক।
9 Who knows? God may change his mind and relent. He may decide not to destroy us in his fierce anger.”
৯কোনে জানে? হয়তো ঈশ্বৰে তেওঁৰ প্ৰচণ্ড ক্ৰোধৰ পৰা মন ঘূৰাই কোমল হ’ব, আৰু তেতিয়া আমিও ধ্বংস হৈ নাযাম।”
10 God saw what they had done—that they had given up their evil ways—so he changed his mind and did not carry out the destruction he had threatened.
১০পাছত তেওঁলোকে যি কৰিলে আৰু কেনেকৈ তেওঁলোকে নিজ নিজ মন্দ পথৰ পৰা ঘূৰিলে, সেই বিষয়ে যেতিয়া ঈশ্বৰে দেখিলে, তেতিয়া তেওঁ নিজৰ মন ঘূৰালে। তাতে তেওঁ যি শাস্তি দিব বুলি মনস্থ কৰিছিল, তাক তেওঁ নকৰিলে।
