John 7
1 After this, Jesus spent his time going from place to place in Galilee. He did not want to do so in Judea because the Jews were out to kill him.
੧ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਗਲੀਲ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਹ ਯਹੂਦਿਯਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਦੇ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ।
2 But as it was almost time for the Jewish festival of the Tabernacles,
੨ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਡੇਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਨੇੜੇ ਸੀ।
3 his brothers told him, “You ought to leave and go to Judea so your followers will be able to see what miracles you can do.
੩ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਚੱਲ ਕੇ ਯਹੂਦਿਯਾ ਨੂੰ ਜਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਕੰਮ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਉੱਥੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਵੇਖਣ,
4 No one who wants to be famous keeps what they do hidden. If you can do such miracles, then show yourself to the world!”
੪ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਲੋਕ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਨਣ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਲੁਕੋਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਖਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਵੇਖਣ ਦੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਕੰਮ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।”
5 For even his own brothers really didn't believe in him.
੫ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।
6 Jesus told them, “This is not my time to go, not yet; but you can go whenever you want, for any time's the right time for you.
੬ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਹਾਲੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਠੀਕ ਸਮਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਸਮਾਂ ਠੀਕ ਹੈ।
7 The world has no reason to hate you, but it does hate me, because I make it clear that its ways are evil.
੭ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ। ਪਰ ਇਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਬੁਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
8 You go on to the festival. I'm not going to this festival because this is not the right time for me, not yet.”
੮ਤੁਸੀਂ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਤੇ ਜਾਵੋ। ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਮੈਂ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਵਾਂਗਾ। ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਅਜੇ ਸਹੀ ਸਮਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ।”
9 After saying this he stayed behind in Galilee.
੯ਇਹ ਆਖਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਗਲੀਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਰਿਹਾ।
10 After his brothers left to go to the festival, Jesus also went, but not openly—he stayed out of sight.
੧੦ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਭਰਾ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਤੇ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਯਿਸੂ ਵੀ ਚਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਪਰ ਉਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਗੁਪਤ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਗਿਆ।
11 Now at the festival the Jewish leaders were searching for him and kept on asking, “Where is he?”
੧੧ਯਹੂਦੀ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਦੇ ਇਕੱਠ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਬੋਲੇ, “ਉਹ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਹੈ?”
12 Many people in the crowds were complaining about him. Some said, “He's a good man,” while others argued, “No! He deceives people.”
੧੨ਉੱਥੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਭੀੜ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਸੀ, ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਆਖ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ, “ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਚੰਗਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੈ।” ਕੁਝ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਮਰਾਹ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।”
13 But no one dared to speak openly about him because they were afraid of what the Jewish leaders would do to them.
੧੩ਪਰ ਇੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਲੇਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੇ ਆਮ ਉਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਲੋਕ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਡਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ।
14 When the festival was halfway through Jesus went to the Temple and began to teach.
੧੪ਯਿਸੂ ਹੈਕਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
15 The Jewish leaders were very surprised, and asked, “How does this man have so much learning when he hasn't been educated?”
੧੫ਯਹੂਦੀ ਅਚਰਜ਼ ਮੰਨ ਕੇ ਬੋਲੇ, “ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਪਾਠਸ਼ਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਿਆ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ?”
16 Jesus answered, “My teaching is not from me but from the one who sent me.
੧੬ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ “ਜੋ ਬਚਨ ਮੈਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਚਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ, ਸਗੋਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ।
17 Anyone who chooses to follow what God wants will know if my teaching comes from God or if I'm only speaking for myself.
੧੭ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਬਾਰੇ ਸਮਝੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਕੀ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਿਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ।
18 Those who speak for themselves want to glorify themselves, but someone who glorifies the one who sent him is truthful and not deceitful.
੧੮ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਜਿਹੜਾ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਗਲਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
19 Moses gave you the law, didn't he? Yet none of you keeps the law! Why are you trying to kill me?”
੧੯ਕੀ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਪਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੱਲਦਾ! ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟਣ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਕਿਉਂ ਪਏ ਹੋਏ ਹੋ?”
20 “You're demon-possessed!” the crowd replied. “No one's trying to kill you!”
੨੦ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਭੂਤ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ?”
21 “I did one miracle and you're all shocked by it,” Jesus replied.
੨੧ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋ।
22 “However, because Moses told you to circumcise—not that it really came from Moses, but from your forefathers before him—you perform circumcision on the Sabbath.
੨੨ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਬਾਰੇ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਭਾਵੇਂ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਮੂਸਾ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਈ, ਇਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਿਉ-ਦਾਦਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਈ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੂਸਾ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਬਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ।
23 If you circumcise on the Sabbath to make sure that the law of Moses isn't broken, why are you angry with me for healing someone on the Sabbath?
੨੩ਇਸ ਲਈ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਲਈ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਨਤ, ਸਬਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਵੀ, ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ। ਤਾਂ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਬਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਚੰਗਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ?
24 Don't judge by appearances; decide what is right!”
੨੪ਕਿਸੇ ਚੀਜ਼ ਦੇ ਬਾਹਰੀ ਰੂਪ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਆਂ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ ਬਲਕਿ ਜੋ ਠੀਕ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਧਾਰ ਤੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰੋ।”
25 Then some of those from Jerusalem began wondering, “Isn't this the one they're trying to kill?
੨੫ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕ ਜੋ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਇਹ ਉਹੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਗੂ ਮਾਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
26 But see how openly he's speaking, and they're saying nothing to him. Do you think the authorities believe he's the Messiah?
੨੬ਪਰ ਉਹ ਖੁੱਲੇ-ਆਮ ਬਚਨ ਬੋਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਬਚਨ ਬੋਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੋਕ ਰਿਹਾ। ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਸੀਹ ਮੰਨ ਲਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ।
27 But that's not possible because we know where he comes from. When the Messiah comes, nobody will know where he's from.”
੨੭ਪਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕਿੱਥੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸਲੀ ਮਸੀਹ ਆਵੇਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕਿੱਥੋਂ ਦਾ ਹੈ?”
28 While he was teaching in the Temple, Jesus called out in a loud voice, “So you think you know me and where I'm from? However, I did not come for my own sake. The one who sent me is true. You don't know him,
੨੮ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਹੈਕਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਚਨ ਬੋਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਕਿੱਥੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ। ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਇੱਥੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ। ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ।
29 but I know him, for I come from him, and he sent me.”
੨੯ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ। ਉਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ।”
30 So they tried to arrest him, but no one laid a hand on him because his time had not yet come.
੩੦ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਆਖਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ੜਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਪਰ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਨਾ ਸਕਿਆ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਜਾਨੋਂ ਮਾਰੇ ਜਾਣ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਠੀਕ ਸਮਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।
31 However, many of the crowd did put their trust in him. “When the Messiah appears, will he do more miraculous signs than this man has done?” they said.
੩੧ਪਰ ਕਈਆਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਅਸੀਂ ਮਸੀਹ ਦੇ ਆਉਣ ਦੀ ਉਡੀਕ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਆਵੇਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਇਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਵਧ ਚਮਤਕਾਰ ਕਰੇਗਾ?”
32 When the Pharisees heard the crowd whispering this about him, they and the chief priests sent guards to arrest Jesus.
੩੨ਜਦੋਂ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਬਾਰੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣੀਆਂ, ਮੁੱਖ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਹੈਕਲ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫੜਨ ਲਈ ਭੇਜਿਆ।
33 Then Jesus told the people, “I'll be with you just a little longer, but then I'll return to the one who sent me.
੩੩ਤਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਹਾਂ, ਅਜੇ ਥੋੜ੍ਹਾ ਚਿਰ ਹੋਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਰਹਾਂਗਾ, ਫਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਵਾਪਸ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਵਾਂਗਾ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ।
34 You'll search for me but you won't find me; and you can't come where I'm going.”
੩੪ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲੱਭੋਗੇ ਪਰ ਲੱਭ ਨਾ ਸਕੋਗੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉੱਥੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਸਕਦੇ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮੈਂ ਹਾਂ।”
35 The Jews said to each other, “Where could he be going that we couldn't find him? Is he planning to go to those scattered among the foreigners, and teach the foreigners?
੩੫ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਹ ਭਲਾ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ? ਕੀ ਇਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਯੂਨਾਨੀ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਲੋਕ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ? ਕੀ ਉਹ ਉੱਥੇ ਯੂਨਾਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨਾਉਣ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ?
36 What does he mean by saying, ‘You'll search for me but you won't find me; and you can't come where I'm going’?”
੩੬ਇਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲੱਭੋਗੇ ਪਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕੋਗੇ। ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉੱਥੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮੈਂ ਹਾਂ। ਇਸ ਦਾ ਕੀ ਮਤਲਬ ਹੋਇਆ?”
37 On the last and most important day of the festival, Jesus stood up and shouted out in a loud voice, “If you're thirsty, come to me and drink.
੩੭ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਦਾ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਦਿਨ ਆਇਆ ਇਹ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਦਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਦਿਨ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੋਲ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਪਿਆਸਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਆ ਕੇ ਪੀਵੇ।
38 If you trust in me, you will have streams of life-giving water flowing out from within you, as Scripture says.”
੩੮ਇਹ ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਜਲ ਦੇ ਦਰਿਆ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਵਗਣਗੇ।”
39 He was referring to the Spirit that those who trusted in him would later receive. The Spirit hadn't been given yet because Jesus hadn't yet been glorified.
੩੯ਯਿਸੂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਬੋਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਣਗੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਆਤਮਾ ਹਾਲੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਹਾਲੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਲਈ ਉੱਠਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਗਿਆ।
40 When they heard these words, some of the people said, “This man is definitely the Prophet!”
੪੦ਜੋ ਯਿਸੂ ਆਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੁਣਿਆ। ਕੁਝ ਇੱਕ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਇਹ ਉਹੀ ਨਬੀ ਹੈ।”
41 Others said, “He is the Messiah!” Still others said, “How can the Messiah come from Galilee?
੪੧ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਉਹ ਮਸੀਹ ਹੈ।” ਕੁਝ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਕੀ, ਮਸੀਹ ਗਲੀਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਵੇਗਾ?
42 Doesn't Scripture say that the Messiah comes from David's lineage, and from David's home town of Bethlehem?”
੪੨ਕੀ ਇਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਸੀਹ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਆਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਬੈਤਲਹਮ, ਦੀ ਨਗਰੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਆਵੇਗਾ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ?”
43 So the crowd had a strong difference of opinion about him.
੪੩ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਯਿਸੂ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਫੁੱਟ ਪੈ ਗਈ ਸੀ।
44 Some wanted to arrest him, but nobody laid a hand on him.
੪੪ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਫੜਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ, ਪਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੱਥ ਨਾ ਪਾਇਆ।
45 Then the guards returned to the chief priests and the Pharisees who asked them, “Why didn't you bring him in?”
੪੫ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹੈਕਲ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਗਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ?”
46 “Nobody ever spoke like this man does,” the guards replied.
੪੬ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਅਜਿਹੇ ਬਚਨ ਕਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੇ।”
47 “Have you been fooled too?” the Pharisees asked them.
੪੭ਫ਼ੇਰ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਕੀ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਮੂਰਖ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ?
48 “Has a single one of the rulers or Pharisees believed in him? No!
੪੮ਕੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਆਗੂ ਜਾਂ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ? ਨਹੀਂ!
49 But this crowd that knows nothing about teachings of the law—they're damned anyway!”
੪੯ਪਰ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਤਾ, ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵਲੋਂ ਸਰਾਪੀ ਹਨ।
50 Nicodemus, who had previously gone to meet Jesus, was one of them and asked them,
੫੦ਪਰ ਨਿਕੋਦਿਮੁਸ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਯਿਸੂ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਸੀ।
51 “Does our law condemn a man without a hearing and without finding out what he actually did?”
੫੧ਕੀ ਸਾਡੀ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੁਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਣੇ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਠਹਿਰਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ?”
52 “So you're a Galilean as well, are you?” they replied. “Check the Scriptures and you'll discover that no prophet comes from Galilee!”
੫੨ਯਹੂਦੀ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਵੀ ਗਲੀਲ ਤੋਂ ਹੈ?
53 Then they all went home,
੫੩ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਪੜ੍ਹੋ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਾਣੋਗੇ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਨਬੀ ਗਲੀਲ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ,” ਸਾਰੇ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਆਗੂ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ।
