< John 18 >

1 After Jesus had finished speaking, he and his disciples crossed over the Kidron brook and went into an olive grove.
Mbe ejile amala Yesu okwaika emisango jinu, aulukile na bheigisibwa bhaye nibhambuka mwitina lya Kidron, enu chaliga chili echilabho, eyo omwene na bheigisibwa bhaye bhengiye omwo.
2 Judas the betrayer knew the place, for Jesus had often gone there with his disciples.
Woli Yuda, unu endaga okumulomela iniku, nawe aliga amenyele eyo, okubha Yesu aliga najayo eyo kwiya kafu nabheigisibwa bhaye.
3 So Judas took with him a troop of soldiers together with guards from the chief priests and the Pharisees. They arrived there carrying torches, lanterns, and weapons.
Nawe Yuda ajile abhona echise cha bhasilikale na bhaofisa osoka kubhakulu bha bhagabhisi, bhejile bhali na jitala, gimuli nebhigwato.
4 Jesus knew everything that was going to happen to him. He went to meet them, and asked, “Who are you looking for?”
Nawe Yesu, okubha amenyele bhuli chinu echochaliga nichikolekana kumwene, naja imbele yebwe nabhabhusha ati,”Niga oyo omuyenja?”
5 “Are you Jesus of Nazareth?” they asked. “I am,” Jesus told them. Judas the betrayer was standing with them.
Abhene nibhamusubya ati,” Yesu Omunazareti.” Yesu nabhabwila ati,”Anye niwe”Nawe Yuda oyo amulomeye iniku, aliga emeleguyu amwi nabhasilikale.
6 When Jesus said “I am,” they fell back and dropped to the ground.
Kulwejo ejile abhabwila ati,” Anye niwe” bhasubhile inyuma nibhagwa asi. Mbe
7 So he asked them again, “Who are you looking for?” “Are you Jesus of Nazareth?” they asked again.
nabhabhusha lindi ati,” Niga oyo omuyenja? Abhene nibhamusubya lindi” Yesu omunazareti.”
8 “I already told you I am,” Jesus replied. “So if I'm the one you're looking for, let these others go.”
Yesu nasubya ati,” Namalile okubhabwila ati Nanye; Kulwejo labha omuyenja anye, mubhasige bhanu abhandi bhagende.”
9 These words fulfilled what he had previously said: “I have not lost any of those you gave me.”
Ganu galiga gali kutyo koleleki guliya omusango gukumile; ao aikile ati;”Kubhanu ulanaye, nitamubhusishe nolo umwi.”
10 Then Simon Peter drew a sword and struck Malchus, the high priest's servant, cutting off his right ear.
Niwo Simoni Petro, unu aliga ali ne chigwato, nenamusha namutema okutwi kwo bhulyo omukosi wo mugabhisi omukulu. Na lisina lyaye omukosi uliya aliga Malko.
11 Jesus told Peter, “Put the sword away! Do you think I shouldn't drink the cup the Father has given me?”
Yesu namubwila Petro ati,” Subyamo echigwato chao muchibhikilo chaye. Kubhaki nisige okuchinywela echikombe chiliya echoanaye Lata?”
12 Then the soldiers, their commander, and the Jewish guards arrested Jesus and tied his hands.
Mbe echisecha bhasilikale no mukulu webwe, na bhakosi bha bhayaudi, bhamugwatile Yesu nibhamubhoya.
13 First they took him to Annas, the father-in-law of Caiaphas, the current high priest.
Nabho nibhamutangasha okukinga ku Anasi, okubha omwene aligali esebhuko Kayafa, unu aliga mugabhisi omukulu omwaka ogwo.
14 Caiaphas was the one who had told the Jews, “It's better that one man die for the people.”
Woli Kayafa niwe aliga abhayaye obwenge abhayaudi ati kwiyile omunu umwi okufwila abhanu.
15 Simon Peter followed Jesus, and another disciple did so too. This disciple was well-known to the high priest, and so he entered the high priest's courtyard with Jesus.
Mbe Simoni Perto namulubha Yesu, na kutyo omwiigisibwa oundi. Na uliya omwiigisibwa aliga amenyelwe ku mugabhisi omukulu, nawe nengila amwi na Yesu mulugo lwo mugabhisi omukulu;
16 Peter had to remain outside by the door. So the other disciple who was known to the high priest went and spoke to the servant girl watching the door and brought Peter inside.
Nawe petro aliga emeleguyu anja yo lwigi. Mbe uliya omwiigisibwa oyoaliga amenyelwe ku mugabhisi omukulu, nauluka anja nagenda okwaika na uliya omuyala omukosi oyo egalaga olwigi namwingisha Petro munda.
17 The girl asked Peter, “Aren't you one of that man's disciples?” “Me? No, I'm not,” he replied.
Mbe uliya omuyala aliga mwigasi wo lwigi, namubhila Petro ati,” Awe utali umwi wa bheigisibwa bho munu unu?”Omwene naika ati,” Anye uli.”
18 It was cold, and the servants and guards were standing by a fire they had made, warming themselves. Peter went and stood with them, warming himself.
Abhakosi na bhakulu bhaliya bhaliga bhemeleguyu ao; bhakongesishe omulilo okubha yaliga mbeo, na kutyo bhaliga mbabhila omulilo koleleki bhabhone libhila. Nawe Petro aliga ali nabho, nabhila omulilo emeleguyu.
19 Then the chief priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and what he had been teaching.
mugabhisi omukulu namubhusha Yesu ingulu ya bheigisibwa bhaye na meigisho gaye.
20 “I've spoken openly to everyone,” Jesus replied. “I always taught in the synagogues and in the Temple where all the Jewish people meet. I haven't said anything in secret.
Yesu namusubya ati,” Nasimuliye abwelu abhanyachalo; Anye neigisishe kusiku mumekofyanya na muyekalu munu abhayaudi abhekofyanyishaga. Anye Nitaikile gwona gwona mumbisike.
21 So why are you questioning me? Ask the people who heard me what I told them. They know what I said.”
Kulwa ki omumbusha? Mubhabhushe bhanu bhanyugwaga ingulu ya chiliya echonaikile. Abhanu bhanu abhamenya emisango jiliya ejonaikile
22 When he said this, one of the guards standing nearby slapped Jesus, saying, “Is that any way to speak to the high priest?”
Yesu ejile amala okwaika kutyo, omwi wa bhakulu oyo aliga emeleguyu namubhuma Yesu kwo kubhoko kwaye neya naika ati,” nikwo kutyo kwiyile okumusubya omugabhisi omukulu?”
23 Jesus replied, “If I said something wrong, tell everyone what was wrong with it. But if what I said was right, why did you hit me?”
Nawe Yesu namusubya ati,” labha naika omusango gunu guli mubhibhi mbe ubhe mubhambasi kulubhaju lwo bhunyamuke, alabha nasubya kisi kulwaki umbume?
24 Annas sent him, his hands still tied, to Caiaphas the high priest.
Niwo Anasi namusila Yesu kukayafa omugabhisi omukulu abhoyelwe.
25 As Simon Peter stood warming himself by the fire, the people there asked him, “Aren't you one of his disciples?” Peter denied it and said, “No, I'm not.”
Woli Simoni Petro aliga emeleguyu nabhila omulilo omwene. abhanu bhaliya nibhamubwila ati.”Awe, utali umwi wa bheigisibwa bhaye?” Nalema naika ati” Anye uli.”
26 One of the high priest's servants, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, asked Peter, “Didn't I see you in the olive grove with him?”
Oumwi wa bhakosi bho mugabhisi omukulu oyo aliga luganda lwa uliya omulume oyo Petro amutemele okutwi, naika ati,” Atali awe unu nakulolele nage muchilabho?”
27 Peter denied it again, and immediately a cock crowed.
Petro nalema lindi, ao ing'oko nikokolima.
28 Early in the morning they took Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor. The Jewish leaders didn't enter the palace because if they did they would be ceremonially defiled, and they wanted to be able to eat the Passover meal.
Mbe nibhamugega Yesu kusoka kukayafa kukinga mwilomelo. Yaliga katondo. abhene bhatengiye muliya mwilomelo koleleki bhataja kwilabhula no kuilya ipasaka.
29 So Pilate came out to meet them. “What charge are you bringing against this man?” he asked.
Kulwejo Pilato nabhalubha naika ati.” Ni ntambalaki inu eyendela omunu unu?”
30 “If he wasn't a criminal, we would not have handed him over to you,” they answered.
Nibhamusubya no kumubwila ati,”Alabha omunu unu atakolele obhunyamuke, chitakamuletele kwawe.”
31 “Then you take him and judge him according to your law,” Pilate told them. “We're not permitted to execute anyone,” the Jews answered.
Pilato nabhabwila ati,” Mumugege emwe abhene mumulamula okwingana nebhilagilo byemwe.” nabho abhayaudi nibhamubwila ati,”echilagilo chitakwilisha eswe okwita omunu wonawona.”
32 This fulfilled what Jesus had said about how he would die.
Bhaikile ganu koleleki omusango gwa Yesu gukumile, omusango ogwo aliga amalile okugwaika ingulu yo lufu lyaye.
33 Pilate went back into the governor's palace. He summoned Jesus, and asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?”
Mbe Pilato nengila lindi mwilomelo namubhilikila Yesu; namubwila ati,” Mbe awe ulimukama wa Bhayaudi?”
34 “Did you think of this question yourself, or did others talk to you about me?” Jesus responded.
Yesu namusubya ati,” Mbe awe ousubya ati obwaiki bhunu kwo kubha owenda okumenya okubha abhandi bhakutumile bhambushe anye?”
35 “Am I a Jew?” Pilate countered. “It was your own people and high priests who handed you over to me. What is it that you've done?”
Pilato namusubya ati,” Anye ntali Muyaudi?” Liyanga lyao no mugabhisi omukulu nibho bhakuletele kwanye; awe wamakolaki?
36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it was of this world, my subjects would fight to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from here.”
Yesu nasubya ati; “Obhukama bwani bhutali bwe chalo chinu, alabha obhukama bwani bwakabheye bwe chalo chinu abhagaya bhani bhakandwaniye koleleki nisigeokusosibwa kubhayaudi. Ni chimali obhukama bwani bhutakusoka anu.”
37 Then Pilate asked, “So you are a king, then?” “You say that I'm a king,” Jesus replied. “The reason why I was born and I came to the world was to give evidence for the truth. All those who accept the truth pay attention to what I say.”
Mbe Pilato namubwila ati Mbe awe ulimukama?” Yesu nasubya ati,” awe nikwo owaika anye ni mukama, Kwo kubha anye nibhuwe okubha anye nejile muchalo koleleki nibhe mubhambasi we chimali. Wona wona oyo ali wechimali kategelesha obhulaka bwani.
38 “What is truth?” Pilate asked. Having said this Pilate went back out to the Jews and told them, “I find him not guilty of any crime.
Pilato namubwila ati, echimali niki?” Nawe ejili amala okwaika ganu nadenga Kubhayaudi nabhabwila ati, Anye nitakulola lyona lyona kumunu unu.
39 However, it is customary for me to release a prisoner to you at Passover. Do you want me to release the King of the Jews?”
Emwe muli naintungwa eyo enikola nimutatile omubwoywa umwi omwanya gwa ipasaka. Mbe omwenda nimutatile omukama wa bhayaudi.”
40 “No, not him! We want Barabbas instead!” they shouted back. Barabbas was a rebel.
Mbe nibheya nibhamwaya obhulaka nibhaika ati, atali unu, mutatilile Balaba.” Nawe Balaba aliga omusakusi.
