John 14
1 “Don't let your minds be anxious. Trust in God, trust in me as well.
Não se turbe o vosso coração: credes em Deus, crede também em mim.
2 In my Father's house there are many rooms. If this wasn't so I would have told you. I'm going to prepare a place for you.
Na casa de meu Pai há muitas moradas; senão, eu vo-lo teria dito; vou preparar-vos lugar.
3 Once I've gone and prepared a place for you, I will come again and take you back with me, so that you can be there with me too.
E, se eu for, e vos preparar lugar, virei outra vez, e vos levarei para mim mesmo, para que onde eu estiver estejais vós também.
4 You know the way to where I'm going.”
E já sabeis para onde vou, e sabeis o caminho.
5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don't know where you're going. How can we know the way?”
Disse-lhe Tomé: Senhor, nós não sabemos para onde vais; e como podemos saber o caminho?
6 Jesus replied, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Disse-lhe Jesus: Eu sou o caminho, e a verdade e a vida. ninguém vem ao Pai, senão por mim.
7 If you had known me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and you have seen him.”
Se vós me conhecesseis a mim, também conhecerieis a meu Pai; e já desde agora o conheceis, e o tendes visto.
8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we'll be convinced.”
Disse-lhe Felipe: Senhor, mostra-nos o Pai, e isso nos basta.
9 Jesus replied, “Have I been with you such a long time, Philip, and yet you still don't know me? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Disse-lhe Jesus: Estou há tanto tempo convosco, e não me tendes conhecido, Felipe? quem me vê a mim vê o Pai: e como dizes tu: Mostra-nos o Pai?
10 Don't you believe that I live in the Father and the Father lives in me? The words I speak are not mine; it's the Father living in me who is doing his work.
Não crês tu que eu estou no Pai, e que o Pai está em mim? As palavras que eu vos digo não as digo de mim mesmo, mas o Pai, que está em mim, é quem faz as obras
11 Believe me when I tell you that I live in the Father, and the Father lives in me, or at least believe because of the evidence provided by all that I've done.
Crêde-me que estou no Pai, e que o Pai está em mim: crêde-me, ao menos, por causa das mesmas obras.
12 I tell you the truth, anyone who trusts in me will do the same things I am doing. In fact they will do even greater things because I am going to the Father.
Na verdade, na verdade vos digo que aquele que crê em mim também fará as obras que eu faço, e as fará maiores do que estas; porque eu vou para meu Pai
13 I'll do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified through the Son.
E tudo quanto pedirdes em meu nome eu o farei, para que o Pai seja glorificado no Filho.
14 Whatever you ask for in my name, I will do it.
Se pedirdes alguma coisa em meu nome, eu o farei.
15 If you love me, you will keep my commands.
Se me amais, guardai os meus mandamentos.
E eu rogarei ao Pai, e ele vos dará outro Consolador, para que fique convosco para sempre: (aiōn g165)
17 the Spirit of truth, who will always be with you. The world cannot accept him because it isn't looking for him and does not know him. But you know him because he lives with you and will be in you.
O espírito de verdade, que o mundo não pode receber, porque não o vê nem o conhece: mas vós o conheceis, porque habita convosco, e estará em vós.
18 I will not abandon you like orphans: I will come back to you.
Não vos deixarei órfãos; voltarei para vós.
19 Soon the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you will live too.
Ainda um pouco, e o mundo não me verá mais, porém vós me vereis; porque eu vivo, e vós vivereis.
20 On that day you will know that I live in the Father, you live in me, and I live in you.
Naquele dia conhecereis que estou em meu Pai, e vós em mim, e eu em vós.
21 Those who keep my commands are the ones who love me, those who love me will be loved by my Father. I will love them too, and will reveal myself to them.”
Aquele que tem os meus mandamentos e os guarda esse é o que me ama; e aquele que me ama será amado de meu Pai, e eu o amarei, e me manifestarei a ele.
22 Judas (not Iscariot) responded, “Lord, why would you reveal yourself to us and not to the world?”
Disse-lhe Judas (não o Iscariotes): Senhor, de onde vem que te as de manifestar a nós, e não ao mundo?
23 Jesus replied, “Those who love me will do as I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with them.
Jesus respondeu, e disse-lhe: Se alguém me ama, guardará a minha palavra, e meu Pai o amará, e viremos para ele, e faremos nele morada.
24 Those who don't love me don't do what I say. These words don't come from me, they come from the Father who sent me.
Quem me não ama não guarda as minhas palavras; e a palavra que ouvistes não é minha, mas do Pai que me enviou.
25 I'm explaining this to you while I'm still here with you.
Tenho-vos dito estas coisas, estando ainda convosco.
26 But when the Father sends the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, in my place, he will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.
Mas aquele Consolador, o Espírito Santo, que o Pai enviará em meu nome, esse vos ensinará todas as coisas, e vos fará lembrar de tudo quanto vos tenho dito.
27 Peace I leave you; my peace I'm giving you. The peace I give you is nothing like what the world gives. Don't let your minds be anxious, and don't be afraid.
Deixo-vos a paz, a minha paz vos dou: não vo-la dou como o mundo a dá. Não se turbe o vosso coração, nem se atemorize.
28 You've heard me tell you, ‘I am going away, but I will come back to you.’ If you really loved me, you would be happy because I'm going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.
Ouvistes que eu vos disse: Vou, e venho para vós. Se me amasseis, certamente exultarieis por ter dito: Vou para o Pai; porque meu Pai é maior do que eu.
29 I've explained this to you now before it happens so that when it does happen you will be convinced.
Eu vo-lo disse agora antes que aconteça, para que, quando acontecer, vós acrediteis.
30 I can't talk to you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no power to control me,
Já não falarei muito convosco; porque já se aproxima o príncipe deste mundo, e nada tem em mim.
31 but I'm doing what my Father told me to do so that the world will know that I love the Father. Now get up. Let's go.”
Mas para que o mundo saiba que eu amo o Pai, e que faço como o Pai me mandou, levantai-vos, vamo-nos daqui.
