John 11
1 A man named Lazarus was sick. He lived in Bethany with his sisters Mary and Martha.
೧ಮಾರ್ಥಳು ಮತ್ತು ಆಕೆಯ ಸಹೋದರಿಯಾದ, ಮರಿಯಳ ಊರಾದ, ಬೇಥಾನ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಲಾಜರನೆಂಬುವನೊಬ್ಬನು ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
2 Mary was the one who had anointed the Lord with perfume and wiped his feet with her hair. It was her brother Lazarus who was sick.
೨ಈ ಮರಿಯಳು ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ತೈಲವನ್ನು ಹಚ್ಚಿ ಆತನ ಪಾದಗಳನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ತಲೆ ಕೂದಲಿನಿಂದ ಒರಸಿದವಳು. ಈಕೆಯ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಲಾಜರನೇ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
3 So the sisters sent a message to Jesus: “Lord, your close friend is sick.”
೩ಹೀಗಿರಲಾಗಿ ಅವನ ಸಹೋದರಿಯರು, “ಕರ್ತನೇ ಇಗೋ, ನೀನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸುವವನು ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥನಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ” ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದರು.
4 When Jesus heard the news he said, “The end result of this sickness will not be death. Through this God's glory will be revealed so that the Son of God may be glorified.”
೪ಯೇಸು ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ, “ಈ ರೋಗವು ಮರಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಬಂದದ್ದಲ್ಲ; ಇದರಿಂದ ದೇವಕುಮಾರನಿಗೆ ಮಹಿಮೆ ಉಂಟಾಗುವಂತೆ ದೇವರ ಮಹಿಮೆಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಬಂದದ್ದು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
5 Even though Jesus loved Martha, Mary, and Lazarus,
೫ಮಾರ್ಥಳನ್ನು ಆಕೆಯ ತಂಗಿಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಲಾಜರನನ್ನು ಯೇಸು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
6 and had heard that Lazarus was sick, he remained where he was for two more days.
೬ಲಾಜರನು ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥನಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆಂದು ಆತನು ಕೇಳಿದ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಎರಡು ದಿನ ತಾನಿದ್ದ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲೇ ಉಳಿದುಕೊಂಡನು.
7 Then he told the disciples, “Let's return to Judea.”
೭ಬಳಿಕ ಆತನು ತನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ, “ನಾವು ಪುನಃ ಯೂದಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
8 The disciples replied, “Rabbi, just a few days ago the Jews were trying to stone you. Do you really want to go back there now?”
೮ಆತನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ಆತನಿಗೆ, “ಗುರುವೇ, ಆಗಲೇ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ನಿನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಲ್ಲೆಸೆಯಬೇಕೆಂದು ಹುಡುಕುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಪುನಃ ನೀನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಬೇಕೆಂದಿರುವಿಯಾ?” ಎಂದರು.
9 “Aren't there twelve hours in a day?” Jesus replied.
೯ಯೇಸು, “ಹಗಲಿಗೆ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ತಾಸುಗಳು ಉಂಟಲ್ಲವೇ? ಒಬ್ಬನು ಹಗಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದರೆ, ಈ ಲೋಕದ ಬೆಳಕು ಕಾಣಿಸುವುದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಎಡವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
10 “If you walk during the day you don't stumble because you can see where you're going by the light of this world. But if you walk during the night you stumble because you have no light.”
೧೦ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದರೆ ತನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳಕಿಲ್ಲದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಎಡವುತ್ತಾನೆ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
11 After telling them this, he said, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I'm going to go there and wake him up!”
೧೧ಇದನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಆತನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನಮ್ಮ ಮಿತ್ರನಾದ ಲಾಜರನು ನಿದ್ರೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ, ಆದುದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಹೋಗಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ನಿದ್ರೆಯಿಂದ ಎಬ್ಬಿಸಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
12 The disciples said, “Lord, if he's sleeping then he'll get better.”
೧೨ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು, “ಅವನು ನಿದ್ರೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆ ಸ್ವಸ್ಥನಾಗುವನು” ಎಂದರು.
13 Jesus had been referring to the death of Lazarus, but the disciples thought he meant actual sleep.
೧೩ಯೇಸು ಅವನ ಮರಣವನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಅದನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದನು, ಆದರೆ ಅವರು ವಿಶ್ರಾಂತಿಗಾಗಿ ಮಲಗಿದ್ದಾನೆಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದನೆಂದು ಯೋಚಿಸಿದರು.
14 So Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus is dead.
೧೪ಆಗ ಯೇಸು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾಗಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ಲಾಜರನು ಸತ್ತು ಹೋಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
15 For your sake I'm glad I wasn't there, because now you will be able to trust in me. Let's go and see him.”
೧೫ನಾನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಹೋದದ್ದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದೇ, ನಿಮಗೆ ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಬರುವಂತೆ ಇದೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಡೆದಿದೆ. ಬನ್ನಿ, ನಾವು ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು
16 Thomas, the Twin, said to his fellow-disciples, “Let's go too so we can die with him.”
೧೬ಆಗ ದಿದುಮನೆಂಬ ತೋಮನು ತನ್ನ ಜೊತೆ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ, “ನಾವು ಸಹ ಯೇಸುವಿನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಾಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
17 When he arrived, Jesus learned that Lazarus had been in the tomb for four days.
೧೭ಯೇಸು ಬಂದಾಗ ಲಾಜರನನ್ನು ಸಮಾಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟು ಆಗಲೇ ನಾಲ್ಕು ದಿನಗಳಾಯಿತೆಂದು ಆತನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿದು ಬಂದಿತು.
18 Bethany was just two miles from Jerusalem,
೧೮ಬೇಥಾನ್ಯವು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಸಮೀಪವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಯೆರುಸಲೇಮಿನಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು ಒಂದು ಹರಿದಾರಿಯಷ್ಟು ಅಂತರವಿತ್ತು.
19 and many Jews had come to console Mary and Martha at the loss of their brother.
೧೯ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಅನೇಕರು ಮಾರ್ಥಳನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಮರಿಯಳನ್ನು ಅವರ ಸಹೋದರನ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂತೈಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಬಂದಿದ್ದರು.
20 When Martha found out that Jesus was coming, she went to meet him, but Mary stayed at home.
೨೦ಹೀಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾರ್ಥಳು ಯೇಸು ಬರುತ್ತಾನೆಂದು ಕೇಳಿ ಆತನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಎದ್ದು ಹೋದಳು. ಆದರೆ ಮರಿಯಳು ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲೇ ಉಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಳು.
21 Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you'd been here, my brother wouldn't have died.
೨೧ಆಗ ಮಾರ್ಥಳು ಯೇಸುವಿಗೆ, “ಕರ್ತನೇ, ನೀನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದಿದ್ದರೆ ನನ್ನ ತಮ್ಮನು ಸಾಯುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
22 But I'm certain that even now God will give you whatever you ask.”
೨೨ಈಗಲಾದರೂ ನೀನು ದೇವರನ್ನು ಏನು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಂಡರೂ ಅದನ್ನು ದೇವರು ನಿನಗೆ ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸುವನೆಂದು ನಾನು ಬಲ್ಲೆನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಳು.
23 Jesus told her, “Your brother will rise again.”
೨೩ಯೇಸು ಆಕೆಗೆ, “ನಿನ್ನ ತಮ್ಮನು ಪುನಃ ಎದ್ದು ಬರುವನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
24 “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day,” Martha answered.
೨೪ಮಾರ್ಥಳು ಆತನಿಗೆ, “ಸತ್ತವರಿಗೆ ಕಡೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಪುನರುತ್ಥಾನವಾಗುವಾಗ ಅವನೂ ಎದ್ದು ಬರುವನೆಂದು ನಾನು ಬಲ್ಲೆನು” ಅಂದಳು.
25 Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who trust in me will live, even though they die.
೨೫ಯೇಸು ಆಕೆಗೆ, “ನಾನೇ ಪುನರುತ್ಥಾನವೂ ಜೀವವೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಇಡುವವನು ಸತ್ತರೂ ಬದುಕುವನು,
೨೬ಮತ್ತು ಜೀವಿಸುವ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನು ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯಿಟ್ಟರೆ, ಅವನು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಸಾಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಇದನ್ನು ನೀನು ನಂಬುತ್ತೀಯೋ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದಕ್ಕೆ, (aiōn g165)
27 “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one expected to come to this world.”
೨೭ಆಕೆಯು ಆತನಿಗೆ, “ಹೌದು ಕರ್ತನೇ, ಲೋಕಕ್ಕೆ ಬರಬೇಕಾದ ದೇವಕುಮಾರನಾದ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನು ನೀನೇ ಎಂದು ನಾನು ನಂಬಿದ್ದೇನೆ” ಅಂದಳು.
28 When she had said this, she went and told her sister Mary in private, “The Teacher's here, and asking to see you.”
೨೮ಇದನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿ ಆಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ತನ್ನ ತಂಗಿಯಾದ ಮರಿಯಳನ್ನು ಗುಪ್ತವಾಗಿ ಕರೆದು, “ಗುರುವು ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ” ಎಂದಳು.
29 As soon as she heard, Mary quickly got up and went to see him.
೨೯ಮರಿಯಳು ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ತಟ್ಟನೆ ಎದ್ದು ಆತನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದಳು.
30 Jesus hadn't arrived in the village yet. He was still at the place where Martha had met him.
೩೦ಯೇಸು ಇನ್ನೂ ಊರೊಳಗೆ ಬಂದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಮಾರ್ಥಳು ಆತನನ್ನು ಸಂಧಿಸಿದ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇದ್ದನು.
31 The Jews who had been comforting Mary in the home saw how she'd got up quickly and left. So they followed her, thinking she was going to the tomb to weep there.
೩೧ಮರಿಯಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದುಕೊಂಡು ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸಂತೈಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಆಕೆಯು ತಟ್ಟನೆ ಎದ್ದು ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೋಗುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು, ಆಕೆಯು ಅಳುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಸಮಾಧಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಳೆಂದು ಭಾವಿಸಿ ಆಕೆಯ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೋದರು.
32 When Mary arrived at the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if you'd been here, my brother wouldn't have died.”
೩೨ಮರಿಯಳು ಯೇಸು ಇದ್ದಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಆತನನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಆತನ ಪಾದಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಬಿದ್ದು ಆತನಿಗೆ, “ಕರ್ತನೇ, ನೀನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದಿದ್ದರೆ ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನು ಸಾಯುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದಳು.
33 When Jesus saw her crying, and the Jews who had come with her crying as well, he was very troubled and upset.
೩೩ಆಕೆಯು ಅಳುವುದನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಆಕೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಅಳುವುದನ್ನು ಯೇಸು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಯೇಸುವು ಆತ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯಸನಪಟ್ಟು ನೊಂದುಕೊಂಡು,
34 “Where have you laid him?” he asked. They replied, “Lord, come and see.”
೩೪“ಅವನನ್ನು ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೀರಿ?” ಎಂದನು. ಅವರು ಆತನಿಗೆ, “ಕರ್ತನೇ, ಬಂದು ನೋಡು” ಎಂದರು.
35 Then Jesus cried too.
೩೫ಯೇಸು ಕಣ್ಣೀರಿಟ್ಟನು.
36 “See how much he loved him,” the Jews said.
೩೬ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು, “ಆಹಾ! ಈತನು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಮಮತೆ ಇಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ” ಎಂದರು.
37 But some of them said, “If he could open the eyes of a blind man, couldn't he have kept Lazarus from dying?”
೩೭ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು, “ಈತನು ಆ ಕುರುಡನಿಗೆ ಕಣ್ಣು ಕೊಟ್ಟನಲ್ಲಾ, ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ಸಾಯದ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡಬಹುದಿತ್ತಲ್ಲಾ?” ಎಂದರು.
38 Very troubled, Jesus went to the tomb. It was a cave with a large stone placed at the entrance.
೩೮ಯೇಸು ತಿರುಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಮನದಲ್ಲಿ ನೊಂದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಸಮಾಧಿಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದನು. ಅದು ಒಂದು ಗವಿಯಾಗಿತ್ತು, ಅದರ ಬಾಯಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಡಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.
39 “Remove the stone,” Jesus told them. But Martha, the dead man's sister, said, “Lord, by now there will be a terrible smell, for he's been dead for four days.”
೩೯ಯೇಸು, “ಆ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದು ಹಾಕಿರಿ” ಎನ್ನಲು, ತೀರಿಹೋದವನ ಸಹೋದರಿಯಾದ ಮಾರ್ಥಳು ಆತನಿಗೆ, “ಕರ್ತನೇ, ಅವನು ಸತ್ತು ನಾಲ್ಕು ದಿನಗಳಾದವು, ಈಗ ದುರ್ವಾಸನೆ ಬಂದಿರಬಹುದು” ಎಂದಳು.
40 “Didn't I tell you that if you trusted me you would see God's glory?” Jesus replied.
೪೦ಯೇಸು ಆಕೆಗೆ, “ನೀನು ನಂಬಿದರೆ ದೇವರ ಮಹಿಮೆಯನ್ನು ಕಾಣುವಿ ಎಂದು ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಳಲಿಲ್ಲವೇ?” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು
41 So they removed the stone. Jesus looked heavenwards, and said, “Father, thank you for listening to me.
೪೧ಆಗ ಅವರು ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದು ಹಾಕಿದರು. ಯೇಸು ಕಣ್ಣೆತ್ತಿ ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ನೋಡಿ, “ತಂದೆಯೇ ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆಯನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
42 I know you always listen to me. I said this because of the crowd standing here so that they will believe that you sent me.”
೪೨ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡುತ್ತೀ ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದೇ ಇದೆ. ಆದರೂ ನೀನೇ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿರುವಿ ಎಂದು ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ನಿಂತಿರುವ ಈ ಜನರು ನಂಬುವಂತೆ ಅವರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಈ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
43 After saying this, Jesus shouted, “Lazarus, come out!”
೪೩ಆತನು ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ಮೇಲೆ, “ಲಾಜರನೇ, ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಾ!” ಎಂದು ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾದ ಸ್ವರದಿಂದ ಕೂಗಿದನು.
44 The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with strips of linen, and with a cloth around his face. “Unbind him and set him free,” Jesus told them.
೪೪ಸತ್ತಿದ್ದವನು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದನು. ಅವನ ಕೈಕಾಲುಗಳು ಶವ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳಿಂದ ಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು. ಅವನ ಮುಖಕ್ಕೆ ವಸ್ತ್ರ ಸುತ್ತಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಯೇಸು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸಿರಿ, ಅವನು ಹೋಗಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
45 Consequently many of the Jews who had come to comfort Mary and who saw what Jesus did put their trust in him.
೪೫ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಮರಿಯಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಅನೇಕರು ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಆತನಲ್ಲಿ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯಿಟ್ಟರು.
46 But others went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done.
೪೬ಆದರೆ ಕೆಲವರು ಫರಿಸಾಯರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಯೇಸು ಮಾಡಿದ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದರು.
47 Then the chief priests and the Pharisees called a meeting of the ruling council. “What shall we do?” they asked. “This man is doing many miracles.
೪೭ಆಗ ಮುಖ್ಯಯಾಜಕರೂ ಫರಿಸಾಯರೂ ಹಿರೀಸಭೆಯನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿ, “ನಾವು ಈಗ ಏನುಮಾಡಬೇಕು? ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಬಹು ಸೂಚಕಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾನಲ್ಲಾ.
48 If we allow him to continue, everybody will believe in him, and then the Romans will destroy both the Temple and our status as a nation.”
೪೮ನಾವು ಅವನನ್ನು ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ಬಿಟ್ಟರೆ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಆತನ್ನನ್ನೇ ನಂಬುವರು. ರೋಮನ್ನರು ಬಂದು ನಮ್ಮ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನೂ ಮತ್ತು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರವನ್ನೂ ವಶ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಾರು” ಎಂದರು.
49 “You don't understand anything!” said Caiaphas, who was high priest that year.
೪೯ಆಗ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಆ ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕನಾಗಿದ್ದ ಕಾಯಫನೆಂಬುವನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನಿಮಗೇನೂ ತಿಳಿಯುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ.
50 “Can't you see that it's better for you that one man die for the people so that the whole nation won't be destroyed?”
೫೦ಇಡೀ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರವೇ ನಾಶವಾಗುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಜನರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಸಾಯುವುದು ನಿಮಗೆ ಹಿತವೆಂದು ನೀವು ಆಲೋಚಿಸುವುದೂ ಇಲ್ಲ” ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದನು.
51 He didn't say this on his own behalf, but as chief priest that year he was prophesying that Jesus would die for the nation.
೫೧ಇದನ್ನು ಅವನು ತನ್ನಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ತಾನೇ ಹೇಳಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಆದರೆ ತಾನು ಆ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕನಾಗಿದ್ದುದರಿಂದ, ಯೇಸು ಆ ಜನರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಹಾಗೂ
52 And this was not just for the Jewish nation, but for all the scattered children of God so that they might be gathered together and be made into one.
೫೨ಆ ಜನತೆಗಾಗಿ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲದೆ ಚದರಿರುವ ದೇವರ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಸಹ ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೂ ಸಾಯುವುದಕ್ಕಿದ್ದನು, ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸಿದನು
53 From that time on they plotted how they might kill Jesus.
೫೩ಅವರು ಆ ದಿನದಿಂದ ಆತನನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಆಲೋಚಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
54 So Jesus did not travel openly among the Jews but went to a town called Ephraim in the region near the desert and stayed there with his disciples.
೫೪ಹೀಗಿರಲಾಗಿ ಯೇಸು ಇನ್ನೂ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರೊಳಗೆ ಬಹಿರಂಗವಾಗಿ ತಿರುಗಾಡದೆ, ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಅಡವಿಯ ಹತ್ತಿರದ ಪ್ರದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್ ಎಂಬ ಊರಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರ ಜೊತೆ ಇದ್ದನು.
55 It was nearly time for the Jewish Passover, and many people went from the countryside to Jerusalem to purify themselves for the Passover.
೫೫ಆಗ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಪಸ್ಕಹಬ್ಬ ಹತ್ತಿರವಾಗಿರಲಾಗಿ, ಬಹು ಜನರು ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಶುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹಬ್ಬಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮೊದಲೇ ಹಳ್ಳಿಗಳಿಂದ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು.
56 People were looking for Jesus and talking about him as they stood in the Temple. “What do you think?” they asked each other. “Isn't he coming to the festival?”
೫೬ಅವರು ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುತ್ತಾ ದೇವಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡು, “ಅವನು ಹಬ್ಬಕ್ಕೆ ಬಾರದೇ ಇದ್ದಾನೋ? ನಿಮಗೆ ಹೇಗೆ ತೋರುತ್ತದೆ?” ಎಂದು ತಮ್ಮತಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದರು.
57 The chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that anyone who knew where Jesus was should report it so they could arrest him.
೫೭ಆಗ ಮುಖ್ಯಯಾಜಕರೂ ಮತ್ತು ಫರಿಸಾಯರೂ ಆತನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯಬೇಕೆಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಯೋಚಿಸಿ, ಅವನಿರುವ ಸ್ಥಳವು ಯಾರಿಗಾದರೂ ಗೊತ್ತಾದರೆ ಅದನ್ನು ತಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರು.
