< Job 40 >

1 God continued speaking to Job.
Ningĩ Jehova akĩĩra Ayubu atĩrĩ:
2 “Are you still going to fight with the Almighty and try to set him straight? Anyone who argues with God must give some answers.”
“Mũndũ ũrĩa ũrũaga na Mwene-Hinya-Wothe-rĩ, no amũrute mahĩtia? Ũcio ũkararagia Ngai-rĩ, nĩakĩmũcookerie!”
3 Job answered the Lord,
Nake Ayubu agĩcookeria Jehova, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ:
4 “Me—I am nothing at all. I have no answers. I put my hand in front of my mouth.
“Niĩ ndiagĩrĩire o na hanini; ndaakĩhota atĩa gũgũcookeria? Nĩndehumbĩra kanua na guoko.
5 I have already said far too much and I won't say anything more.”
Nĩndaririe rĩmwe, no ndirĩ na macookio; o na ngĩaria rĩa keerĩ, no ndirĩ na ũndũ ũngĩ nguuga.”
6 Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind,
Ningĩ Jehova akĩarĩria Ayubu arĩ kĩhuhũkanio-inĩ, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ:
7 “Prepare yourself, be strong, for I am going to question you, and you must answer me.
“Wĩhotore ta mũndũ mũrũme; nĩngũkũũria ciũria, nawe ũkĩnjookerie.
8 Are you really going to say my decisions are wrong? Are you going to condemn me so you can be right?
“Gũtua ciira gwakwa na kĩhooto-rĩ, githĩ no ũkũmenererie? Githĩ no ũndue mwĩhia nĩgeetha wee ũtuĩke ndwĩhĩtie?
9 Are you as powerful as I am? Does your voice thunder like mine?
Wee-rĩ, ũrĩ na guoko ta kwa Mũrungu? Wee wahota kũruruma na mũgambo ta wake?
10 Why don't you dress yourself with majesty and dignity, and clothe yourself with glory and splendor!
Ta kĩĩgemie na riiri na ũkengi, na wĩhumbe gĩtĩĩo na ũnene.
11 Let loose your fierce anger. Humble the proud with a glance.
Rekereria marakara mahiũ ma mangʼũrĩ maku, wone mũndũ o wothe mwĩtĩĩi ũmũharũrũkie,
12 Bring down the proud with your gaze; tread the wicked underfoot right where they are.
rora mũndũ o wothe mwĩtĩĩi na ũmũnyiihie, ũmemende andũ arĩa aaganu o harĩa marũngiĩ.
13 Bury them in the dust; lock them away in the grave.
Mathike othe hamwe tĩĩri-inĩ; ũmoohe mothiũ na nduma kũu mbĩrĩra-inĩ.
14 Then I will also agree that your own strength can save you.
Hĩndĩ ĩyo niĩ mwene nĩngetĩkania nawe atĩ guoko gwaku mwene kwa ũrĩo no gũkũhonokie.
15 Consider Behemoth, a creature I made just like I made you. It eats grass like cattle.
“Ta rora nyamũ ĩrĩa ĩtagwo Behemothu, ĩyo ndoombire hamwe nawe, na ĩrĩĩaga nyeki ta ndegwa.
16 Look at its powerful loins, the muscles of its belly.
Nĩ hinya ũigana atĩa ĩrĩ naguo njohero, na nĩ ũhoti mũnene atĩa ũrĩ mĩkiha-inĩ yayo ya nda!
17 It bends its tail like a cedar; its thigh sinews are strong.
Ĩinagia mũtingʼoe wayo ta mũtarakwa; nga cia ciero ciayo ciohanĩtio hamwe ta mĩhĩndo.
18 Its bones are like bronze tubes; its limbs like iron rods.
Mahĩndĩ mayo mahaana ta mĩberethi ya gĩcango, nacio ciĩga ciayo cihaana ta irungʼo cia kĩgera.
19 It is the most important example of what God can do; only the one who made it can approach it with a sword.
Nĩyo nyamũ ya mbere harĩ ciũmbe cia Mũrungu, no rĩrĩ, Mũũmbi wayo nowe ũngĩmĩkuhĩrĩria na rũhiũ rwake rwa njora.
20 The hills produce food for it, and all the wild animals play there.
Irĩma ĩmĩheaga maciaro maacio, na nyamũ ciothe cia gĩthaka itũũhagĩra gũkuhĩ na kũu.
21 It lies under the lotus; it hides in the reeds of the marsh.
Ĩkomaga rungu rwa mahũa ma maaĩ-inĩ, ĩĩhithĩte thĩinĩ wa ithanjĩ kũrĩa kũrĩ mũtondo.
22 The lotus covers it with shade; the willow trees of the valley surround it.
Mahũa macio ma maaĩ-inĩ makamĩhitha; nakĩo kĩĩruru kĩa mĩtĩ ya irura hũgũrũrũ-inĩ cia karũũĩ gĩkamĩthiũrũrũkĩria.
23 Even if the river is in flood, it is not concerned; it remains calm when the Jordan river surges against it.
Rĩrĩa rũũĩ ruoka na nditi, ndĩmakaga; nĩngitĩre, o na Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani rũngĩmĩiyũrĩrĩra nginya kanua.
24 No one can catch it while it is watching, or pierce its nose with a noose.
Kũrĩ mũndũ ũngĩhota kũmĩnyiita rĩrĩa ĩĩhũũgĩte, kana amĩtege, amĩtũrĩkie iniũrũ na amĩĩkĩre kĩana kĩa rũrigi?
