Job 29

1 Job went on speaking.

۱ و ایوب باز مثل خود را آورده، گفت:

2 “I wish I was back in the old days when God looked after me!

۲ «کاش که من مثل ماههای پیش می‌بودم و مثل روزهایی که خدا مرا در آنها نگاه می‌داشت.

3 His light shone above me and lit my way through the darkness.

۳ هنگامی که چراغ او بر سر من می‌تابید، و با نور او به تاریکی راه می‌رفتم.

4 When I was young and strong, God was my friend and spoke to me in my home.

۴ چنانکه در روزهای کامرانی خود می‌بودم، هنگامی که سر خدا بر خیمه من می‌ماند.

5 The Almighty was still with me and I was surrounded with my children.

۵ وقتی که قادر مطلق هنوز با من می‌بود، و فرزندانم به اطراف من می‌بودند.

6 My herds produced much milk, and oil flowed freely from my olive presses.

۶ حینی که قدمهای خود را باکره می‌شستم و صخره، نهرهای روغن را برای من می ریخت.

7 I went out to the city gate and took my seat in the public square.

۷ چون به دروازه شهر بیرون می‌رفتم وکرسی خود را در چهار سوق حاضر می‌ساختم.

8 The young men saw me and moved out of the way; the elders would stand up for me.

۸ جوانان مرا دیده، خود را مخفی می‌ساختند، وپیران برخاسته، می‌ایستادند.

9 The leaders remained silent and covered their mouths with their hands.

۹ سروران از سخن‌گفتن بازمی ایستادند، و دست به دهان خودمی گذاشتند.

10 The voices of the officials were hushed; they held their tongues in my presence.

۱۰ آواز شریفان ساکت می‌شد وزبان به کام ایشان می‌چسبید.

11 Everyone who listened to me praised me; whoever saw me commended me,

۱۱ زیرا گوشی که مرا می‌شنید، مرا خوشحال می‌خواند و چشمی که مرا می‌دید، برایم شهادت می‌داد.

12 because I gave to the poor who called out to me and the orphans who had no one to help them.

۱۲ زیرافقیری که استغاثه می‌کرد او را می‌رهانیدم، ویتیمی که نیز معاون نداشت.

13 Those who were about to die blessed me; I made the widow sing for joy.

۱۳ برکت شخصی که در هلاکت بود، به من می‌رسید و دل بیوه‌زن راخوش می‌ساختم.

14 Being true and acting right were what I wore for clothing.

۱۴ عدالت را پوشیدم و مراملبس ساخت، و انصاف من مثل ردا و تاج بود.

15 I was like eyes for the blind and feet for the lame.

۱۵ من به جهت کوران چشم بودم، و به جهت لنگان پای.

16 I was like a father to the poor, and I defended the rights of strangers.

۱۶ برای مسکینان پدر بودم، و دعوایی را که نمی دانستم، تفحص می‌کردم.

17 I broke the jaw of the wicked and made them drop their prey from their teeth.

۱۷ دندانهای آسیای شریر را می‌شکستم و شکار را ازدندانهایش می‌ربودم.

18 I thought I would die at home, after many years.

۱۸ «و می‌گفتم، در آشیانه خود جان خواهم سپرد و ایام خویش را مثل عنقا طویل خواهم ساخت.

19 Like a tree my roots spread out to the water; the dew rests on my branches overnight.

۱۹ ریشه من به سوی آبها کشیده خواهدگشت، و شبنم بر شاخه هایم ساکن خواهد شد.

20 Fresh honors were always being given to me; my strength was renewed like an unfailing bow.

۲۰ جلال من در من تازه خواهد شد، و کمانم دردستم نو خواهد ماند.

21 People listened carefully to what I had to say; they kept quiet as they listened to my advice.

۲۱ مرا می‌شنیدند و انتظارمی کشیدند، و برای مشورت من ساکت می‌ماندند.

22 Once I had spoken they had nothing else to say; what I said was enough.

۲۲ بعد از کلام من دیگر سخن نمی گفتند و قول من بر ایشان فرو می‌چکید.

23 They waited for me like people waiting for rain; their mouths wide open for the spring rain.

۲۳ و برای من مثل باران انتظار می‌کشیدند و دهان خویش را مثل باران آخرین باز می‌کردند.

24 When I smiled at them they could hardly believe it; my approval meant all the world to them.

۲۴ اگر بر ایشان می‌خندیدم باور نمی کردند، و نور چهره مرا تاریک نمی ساختند.

25 I decided the way forward as their leader, living like a king among his soldiers, and when they were sad I comforted them.

۲۵ راه را برای ایشان اختیار کرده، به ریاست می‌نشستم، و در میان لشکر، مثل پادشاه ساکن می‌بودم، و مثل کسی‌که نوحه‌گران را تسلی می‌بخشد.
