< Job 28 >

1 There are silver mines and places where gold is refined.
Dhugumaan iddoon meetiin keessaa qotamu, lafti warqeen itti baafamee qulqulleeffamu jira.
2 Iron is extracted from the earth and copper is smelted from its ore.
Sibiilli lafa keessaa baafama; sibiilli diimaan immoo dhagaa albuudaa irraa baqfama.
3 Miners take lamps into the darkness underground and search for ore as far as they can go in the shadows and the gloom.
Namni hamma dhuma dukkanaatti deema; moggaa akka malee fagoo dhaqees, dukkana hamaa keessa dhagaa albuudaa barbaada.
4 They dig a mineshaft far from where people live or anyone ever goes. They swing from ropes that hang in the pits.
Inni lafa namoonni jiraatan irraa fagaatee iddoo miilli namaa ejjetee hin beeknetti boolla qota; namoota irraa fagaatee ni rarraʼa; asii fi achis ni raafama.
5 Bread comes from the earth, but underneath it looks as if it has been turned upside-down by fire.
Lafa irraa garuu nyaatatu argama; jala isheetiin immoo akka waan ibidda taateetti geeddaramti;
6 Here the rocks contain lapis lazuli and the dust contains gold.
dhagaan isaa burqaa sanpeerii ti; biyyoon isaas warqee qaba.
7 No birds of prey can see these paths, no falcon's eye can perceive.
Allaattiin tokko iyyuu karaa dhokfame sana hin beeku; iji culullees karaa sana hin argine.
8 No wild beasts have passed that way; the lion has not walked there.
Bineensonni sodaachisoon irra hin ejjenne; leencis karaa sana hin darbine.
9 Miners attack the hard rock; they overturn the roots of mountains.
Harki namaa dhagaa jabaa cabsa; hundee tulluuwwanii immoo ni gaggaragalcha.
10 They tunnel through the rock, looking carefully for every precious stone.
Inni kattaa keessaan karaa baasa; iji isaas waan gatii guddaa hunda arga.
11 They dam the sources of the rivers, and bring to light what is hidden.
Madda lageenii ni sakattaʼa; waan dhokfames ifatti ni baasa.
12 But where can wisdom be found? Where is the place to gain understanding?
Ogummaan garuu eessaa argamti? Hubannaanis eessa jiraata?
13 Human beings do not know the way to wisdom; it is not found among the living.
Namni gatii isaa hin beeku; inni biyya jiraattotaa keessatti hin argamu.
14 The deep waters say, ‘It's not here,’ and the sea says, ‘It's not here either.’
Tujubni, “Inni na keessa hin jiru” jedha; galaannis, “Inni na bira hin jiru” jedha.
15 It cannot be bought with gold; nor can it be purchased with silver.
Warqeen qulqulluun isa bituu hin dandaʼu; gatiin isaas meetiidhaan hin madaalamu.
16 Its value cannot be measured, even with the gold of Ophir; it is more precious than onyx or lapis lazuli.
Warqee Oofiiriitti, dhagaa gatii guddaa sardooniksiitti yookaan sanpeeriitti hin tilmaamamu.
17 Gold or fine glass cannot compare with wisdom; it cannot be exchanged for gold jewelry.
Warqee fi dhagaan akka bilillee calaqqisu ittiin hin qixxaatu; inni faaya warqee qulqulluutiin hin geeddaramu.
18 Coral and crystal are not worth mentioning; the price of wisdom is far above rubies.
Elellaanii fi dooqni akka waan gatii qabaniitti hin hedaman; gatiin ogummaa lula diimaa caala.
19 Topaz from Ethiopia can't compare with it; it cannot be bought with the purest gold.
Tophaaziyooniin Itoophiyaa itti qixxaatu; warqee qulqulluudhaanis bitamuu hin dandaʼu.
20 So where does wisdom come from? Where is the place to gain understanding?
Yoos ogummaan eessaa dhufti ree? Hubannaanis eessa jiraatti?
21 Wisdom is hidden from the sight of all living things, even the birds of the air cannot see it.
Isheen ija uumama hundaa jalaa dhokatteerti; simbirroota samii jalaas baddeerti.
22 Abaddon and Death say, ‘We've only heard a rumor of it.’
Badiisnii fi Duuti, “Nu oduu ishee qofa gurra keenyaan dhageenye” jedhu.
23 Only God understands the path to wisdom; he knows where it is found.
Waaqa qofatu daandii gara ishee geessu hubatee, lafa inni jiraatus beeka;
24 For he looks to the very end of the earth; he sees everything under heaven.
inni handaara lafaa ni ilaala; waan samii jala jiru hunda ni argaatii.
25 He decided how strong the wind should blow, and regulated the waters.
Inni yommuu bubbeedhaaf humna kennee bishaanota safaretti,
26 He set a limit for the rain and made a path for the lightning.
yommuu bokkaadhaaf seera dhaabee bakakkaaf immoo daandii baasetti,
27 Then he considered wisdom. He examined it, gave it his approval, and declared it good.
inni ogummaa ilaalee madaale; jabeessee dhaabee ishee qorate.
28 He said to humankind, ‘To reverence the Lord is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’”
Ergasii ilmaan namaatiin, “Gooftaa sodaachuun ogummaa; waan hamaa irraa fagaachuunis hubannaa dha” jedhe.
