< Job 28 >

1 There are silver mines and places where gold is refined.
For there for silver [is] a mine and a place for gold [which] people refine.
2 Iron is extracted from the earth and copper is smelted from its ore.
Iron from [the] dust it is taken and stone someone pours out copper.
3 Miners take lamps into the darkness underground and search for ore as far as they can go in the shadows and the gloom.
An end - someone puts to the darkness and to every outermost part he [is] searching for [the] stone of gloom and deep darkness.
4 They dig a mineshaft far from where people live or anyone ever goes. They swing from ropes that hang in the pits.
He breaks open a shaft - away from with a sojourner forgotten from foot they hang down away from humankind they swing.
5 Bread comes from the earth, but underneath it looks as if it has been turned upside-down by fire.
[the] earth From it it comes forth food and under it it is turned over like fire.
6 Here the rocks contain lapis lazuli and the dust contains gold.
[are] a place of Sapphire stones its and dust of gold [belong] to it.
7 No birds of prey can see these paths, no falcon's eye can perceive.
[the] path Not it knows it a bird of prey and not it catches sight of it [the] eye of a hawk.
8 No wild beasts have passed that way; the lion has not walked there.
Not they tread it [the] sons of pride not it passes by on it a lion.
9 Miners attack the hard rock; they overturn the roots of mountains.
On the flint he stretches out hand his he overturns from [the] root mountains.
10 They tunnel through the rock, looking carefully for every precious stone.
In the rocks shafts he splits open and every precious thing it sees eye his.
11 They dam the sources of the rivers, and bring to light what is hidden.
From weeping rivers he restrains and secret her he brings out light.
12 But where can wisdom be found? Where is the place to gain understanding?
And wisdom from where? will it be found and where? this [is the] place of understanding.
13 Human beings do not know the way to wisdom; it is not found among the living.
Not he knows humankind valuation its and not it is found in [the] land of the living [ones].
14 The deep waters say, ‘It's not here,’ and the sea says, ‘It's not here either.’
[the] deep It says not [is] in me it and [the] sea it says not [it] [is] with me.
15 It cannot be bought with gold; nor can it be purchased with silver.
Not it will be given fine gold for it and not it will be weighed out silver price its.
16 Its value cannot be measured, even with the gold of Ophir; it is more precious than onyx or lapis lazuli.
Not it will be paid in [the] gold of Ophir in onyx precious and sapphire.
17 Gold or fine glass cannot compare with wisdom; it cannot be exchanged for gold jewelry.
Not it will be comparable to it gold and glass and [is] exchange its a vessel of pure gold.
18 Coral and crystal are not worth mentioning; the price of wisdom is far above rubies.
Corals and crystal not it is remembered and [the] price of wisdom [is] more than pearls.
19 Topaz from Ethiopia can't compare with it; it cannot be bought with the purest gold.
Not it will be comparable to it topaz of Cush in gold pure not it will be paid.
20 So where does wisdom come from? Where is the place to gain understanding?
And wisdom from where? does it come and where? this [is the] place of understanding.
21 Wisdom is hidden from the sight of all living things, even the birds of the air cannot see it.
And it has been concealed from [the] eyes of every living [thing] and from [the] bird[s] of the heavens it has been hidden.
22 Abaddon and Death say, ‘We've only heard a rumor of it.’
Abaddon and death they say with ears our we have heard report its.
23 Only God understands the path to wisdom; he knows where it is found.
God he understands way its and he he knows place its.
24 For he looks to the very end of the earth; he sees everything under heaven.
For he to [the] ends of the earth he looks under all the heavens he sees.
25 He decided how strong the wind should blow, and regulated the waters.
To make for the wind weight and [the] waters he has measured with a measure.
26 He set a limit for the rain and made a path for the lightning.
When made he for the rain a decree and a path for [the] storm of thunder claps.
27 Then he considered wisdom. He examined it, gave it his approval, and declared it good.
Then he saw it and he recounted it he established it and also he examined it.
28 He said to humankind, ‘To reverence the Lord is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’”
And he said - to humankind here! [the] fear of [the] Lord that [is] wisdom and to turn from evil [is] understanding.
