< Job 14 >
1 Life is short and full of trouble,
“Huta kah a sak hlang he, a khohnin toi tih khoponah khaw hah.
2 like a flower that blooms and withers, like a passing shadow that soon disappears.
Rhaipai bangla phuelh tih a oh uh. Khokhawn bangla yong tih pai voel pawh.
3 Do you even notice me, God, and why do you have to drag me to court?
Te soah ngawn tah na mik tueng tih kai he na taengkah laitloeknah dongla nan khuen.
4 Who can bring something clean of what is unclean? No one.
Rhalawt lamloh a cuem la aka khueh te unim? Pakhat pataeng om pawh.
5 You have determined how long we shall live—the number of months, a time limit on our lives.
A khohnin neh a hla taenah khaw, namah taengah hangdang. A oltlueh te a oltlueh bangla na saii tih poe thai pawh.
6 So leave us alone and give us some peace—so like a laborer we could enjoy a few hours of rest at the end of the day.
Anih lamloh vawl mangthung lamtah, amah hnin at kutloh bangla a ngaingaih hil toeng saeh.
7 Even a tree that's cut down has the hope of sprouting again, of sending up shoots and continuing to live.
Thing ham tah a vung akhaw ngaiuepnah om pueng. Te dongah koep mikhing vetih a dawn khaw ngoeng mahpawh.
8 Even though its roots grow old in the earth, and its stump dies in the ground,
Diklai khuiah a yung patong mai tih, laipi khuiah a ngo duek cakhaw,
9 just a trickle of water will make it bud and grow branches like a young plant.
tui bo ah duei vetih thinghloe bangla a pae cawn ni.
10 But human beings die, their strength dwindles away; they perish, and where are they then?
Tedae hlang tah duek tih rhaa uh coeng. Hlang he a pal phoeiah tah melam a om?
11 Like water evaporating from a lake and a river that dries up and disappears,
Tuitunli lamkah tui khaw khawk dae, tuiva loh a khah vaengah tah kak.
12 so human beings lie down and don't get up again. Until the heavens cease to exist they will not awake from their sleep.
Hlang khaw yalh tih thoo voel pawh. Vaan a om pawt due khaw haenghang pawh. Amih te ih kung lamloh haenghang uh mahpawh.
13 I wish you would hide me in Sheol; conceal me there until your anger is gone. Set a definite time for me there, and remember me! (Sheol )
Unim saelkhui ah a paek lah ve? Kai he nan khoem lah vetih na thintoek a mael duela kai nan thuh lah mako. Kai hamla oltlueh na khueh vetih kai nan poek mako. (Sheol )
14 Will the dead live again? Then I would have hope through all my time of trouble until my release comes.
Hlang he duek koinih hing venim? Kamah kah caempuei hnin boeih he, ka thovaelnah a pawk hil ka lamtawn bitni.
15 You would call and I would answer you; you would long for me, the being that you made.
Nan khue vaengah kai loh nang te kan doo bitni. Na kut dongkah bibi dongah na moo bitni.
16 Then you would look after me and wouldn't be watching me to see if I sinned.
Ka khokan he na tae pawn vetih ka tholhnah khaw na dawn mahpawh.
17 My sins would be sealed up in a bag and you would cover my guilt.
Ka boekoek hnocun khuiah catui a hnah thil tih, kai kah thaesainah na dah thil bitni.
18 But just as the mountains crumble and fall, and the rocks tumble down;
Tedae tlang khaw cungku tih moelh. Lungpang pataeng a hmuen lamloh thoeih.
19 as water wears away the stones, as floods wash away the soil, so you destroy the hope people have.
Lungto khaw tui loh a hoh tih a kongnawt loh diklai laipi a yo. Te dongah hlanghing kah ngaiuepnah na pal sak.
20 You continually overpower them and they pass away; you distort their faces in death and send them away.
Anih te a yoeyah la na khulae tih a hmai a tal la a van daengah anih te na tueih.
21 Their children may become important or fall from their positions, but they don't know or see any of this.
A ca rhoek a thangpom uh dae a ming moenih. Muei uh cakhaw amih a yakming moenih.
22 As people die they only know their own pain and are sad for themselves.”
Tedae a pumsa tah a taengah thak a khoeih tih, a hinglu khaw amah hamla nguekcoi,” a ti.
