< Jeremiah 48 >

1 This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says about Moab: Disaster is coming to the town of Nebo, because it will be destroyed. The town of Kiriathaim will be captured and humiliated; the fortress will be torn down and its people shamed.
Pa inge ma LEUM GOD Kulana El fahk ke acn Moab: “Pakomuta mwet Nebo, Siti selos uh kunausyukla! Sruoh tari siti Kiriathaim, Pot kulana we ikruiyuki, Ac mwet we akmwekinyeyuk;
2 No one praises Moab anymore. People in Heshbon are plotting, “We will destroy Moab as a nation. People of the town of Madmen, we will silence you too—you will be attacked by swords and chased down.”
Oasku lun Moab wanginla. Mwet lokoalok elos sruokya acn Heshbon Ac akoo in sukela mutunfacl Moab nufon. Ac fah wanginla pusra lohngyuk in siti Madmen; Un mwet mweun ac fah mukuiyak in mweuni.
3 Listen to the cries from Horonaim: “Violence and terrible destruction!”
Mwet in acn Horonaim wowoyak ac fahk, “Yoklana mwe lokoalok! Yoklana mwe ongoiya!”
4 Moab will be smashed. Hear the little ones crying for help.
“Sikiyukla acn Moab. Lohng ke tulik uh tung.
5 People weep as they go up to Luhith; and as they come down to Horonaim their sad cries at the destruction echo around.
Lohng pusren mwemelil lalos Ke elos ututyak innek nu Luhith, Ac tung in ongoiya lalos Ke elos tufokla ke innek nu Horonaim.
6 Run away! Save yourselves! Be like a scrawny tamarisk tree in the desert!
Elos fahk, ‘Sulaklak, kaing! Suk moul lowos! Kasrusr oana soko donkey lemnak yen mwesis!’
7 It's because you put your confidence in what you do and what you own that you too will be captured. Your god Chemosh will be taken into exile along with his priests and leaders.
“Moab, kom filiya lulalfongi lom in ku lom ac mwe kasrup lom, Tusruktu, kom ac fah kutangyukla. Chemosh, god lom, fah utukla nu in sruoh, Wi fisrak ac mwet tol lal.
8 The invaders will attack every town; not a single one will escape destruction. The valley will be ruined, and the plain will be destroyed, for the Lord has spoken.
Siti nukewa ac fah kunausyukla; Infahlfal uh ac acn tupasrpasr ac fah sikiyukla pac. Nga, LEUM GOD, pa fahk ma inge.
9 Put up gravestones in Moab, because the country will become a wasteland. Its towns will be turned into ruins where no one lives.
Tulokunak sie eot in kulyuk lun acn Moab. Ac tia paht el musalla. Siti we ac fah filfilla in kulawi, Ac wangin mwet fah sifilpa muta we.” (
10 A curse on those who don't do the Lord's work properly. A curse on those who don't use their swords to kill.
Selngawiyuk mwet se su tia oru orekma lun LEUM GOD ke insial nufon! Selngawiyuk mwet se su sruokya cutlass natul in tia aksororye srah!)
11 The people of Moab have been living comfortably since the country was founded. They're like wine that hasn't been disturbed, not poured from one container to another. So the taste and fragrance remains the same. They haven't experienced exile.
LEUM GOD El fahk, “Oemeet me acn Moab oanna okak — soenna utukla nu in sruoh. Moab el oana wain ma filiyuki in oan sraholu — tia mokleyuk ku okwok liki sufa nu ke sufa, pwanang emah uh, ac fohlo, tia ekla; oanna wo.
12 But watch out, the time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will send them “winemakers” who will pour them out like wine. They will empty out the Moabites, and smash them like jars.
“Tusruktu pacl se ac tuku ke nga fah supwala mwet in okoala acn Moab oana wain. Elos fah okoala nwe ke lisr, ac elos fah fukulya sufa uh nu ke ip sririk.
13 Then the Moabites will feel let down by Chemosh, just as the people of Israel felt let down when they trusted in the golden calf idol at Bethel.
Na mwet Moab ac fah tia sifil lulalfongel Chemosh, god lalos, oana ke mwet Israel tuh fuhleak lulalfongi lalos kacl Bethel, sie god elos tuh lulalfongi meet.
14 How on earth can you Moabites say, “We're heroes, strong men ready to fight in battle”?
“Mukul Moab, efu kowos ku fahk mu kowos mwet mweun watwen, Mwet pulaik ac fokoko ke mweun?
15 Moab is going to be destroyed and its towns conquered. Its finest young men will be killed, declares the King, whose name is the Lord Almighty.
Moab ac siti we kunausyukla; Mukul fusr pisrla we anwuki. Nga pa tokosra, LEUM GOD Kulana, Ac nga pa fahk ma inge.
16 Moab's doom is about to happen; destruction is rushing down on them.
Mwe ongoiya lulap apkunme in sun acn Moab; Mwe keok lal uh ac sa na sikyak.
17 Mourn for them, all you surrounding nations, everyone who knows them! Let others know how the great scepter has been smashed, the rod that once proudly ruled!
“Tungi mutunfacl sac, kowos su muta apkuran, Kowos nukewa su etu pungal. Fahk mu, ‘Ku lun tokosrai lal musalla; Wolana ac ku lal wanginla.’
18 Come down from your glory and sit on the dusty ground, you who live in Dibon, for Moab's destroyer will come and attack you, destroying your fortresses.
Kowos su muta Dibon, Tufokme liki acn fulat suwos Ac muta fin fohk uh in kutkut uh. Mwet se ma ac kunausla Moab oasr inge, El kunausla tari pot ku we.
19 Stand at the roadside and watch, you who live in Aroer. Ask the men and women who are running away to escape, “What's happened?”
Kowos su muta Aroer, Tu sisken inkanek uh ac soano. Siyuk selos su kaing Lah mea sikyak.
20 Moab has been humiliated because it has been defeated. Weep and wail! Shout out beside the River Arnon that Moab has been destroyed!
Na elos ac topuk, ‘Acn Moab ikori. Kowos in tungi, mweyen Moab el arulana tonongla. Sulkakinelik pe Infacl Arnon Lah Moab sikiyukla!’
21 Punishment has arrived on the towns of the high plain—on Holon, Jahzah, and Mephaath,
“Nununku tuku tari nu fin siti inge su oan yen tupasrpasr: Holon, Jahzah, Mephaath,
22 on Dibon, Nebo, and Beth-diblathaim,
Dibon, Nebo, Beth Diblathaim,
23 on Kiriathaim, Beth-gamul, and Beth-meon,
Kiriathaim, Bethgamul, Bethmeon,
24 on Kerioth, Bozrah, and on all the towns of Moab, whether far away or nearby.
Kerioth, ac Bozrah. Nununku tuku nu fin siti nukewa in acn Moab, loes ac apkuran.
25 Moab's strength is gone; their power has been broken, declares the Lord.
Ku lun Moab itungyuki; kufwen mwe mweun lal kipatpatu. Nga, LEUM GOD, pa fahk ma inge.”
26 Make the people of Moab drunk, because they defied the Lord. Then they will roll around in their own vomit, as people laugh at them.
LEUM GOD El fahk, “Oru acn Moab in sruhila, mweyen el utuk nunak lainyu. Moab el fah ipippip in woht lal sifacna, ac mwet uh ac isrunul.
27 Didn't you Moabites used to ridicule the Israelites? But they weren't ever found to be thieves, were they? Yet whenever you talk about them, you shake your heads in contempt.
Moab, kom esam ke kom aksruksruki mwet Israel? Kom lumahlos oana un mwet ingunyar.
28 You people living in Moab, run from your towns, go and live among the rocks. Be like a dove nesting on the cliffs at the entrance to a ravine.
“Kowos su muta in Moab, tuyak som liki siti suwos ac muta fin fulu uh, oana wuleoa ma oru ahng lalos sisken acn oatu in eot uh.
29 We know all about how pompous Moabites are, how extremely proud and conceited they are, arrogantly thinking so highly of themselves.
Moab el arulana inse fulat! Nga lohng luman filang, enum ac ekak lun mwet we, ac lah elos arulana nunku kaclos sifacna.
30 I'm well aware of how disrespectful they are, declares the Lord, but it doesn't matter. They make empty boasts, and what they do is just as empty.
Nga, LEUM GOD, etu ke tungak lalos. Konkin lalos uh wanginna sripa, ac ma elos oru ac tiana oan paht.
31 So I will weep for Moab; I will cry out for all the Moabites; I will mourn for the people of Kir-heres.
Ke ma inge nga fah tungi mwet nukewa in acn Moab, oayapa ke mwet Kir Heres.
32 will weep for you, people of the town of Sibmah with its vineyards, more than I weep for the town of Jazer. Your vines have spread to the sea, and all the way to Jazer. But the destroyer has stolen your harvest of summer fruit and grapes.
Nga fah tungi mwet Jazer, ac nga ac tungi mwet Sibmah yohk liki. Siti Sibmah, kom oana oa in grape soko ma lah kac tupalla sun Meoa Misa, ac som pacna nwe Jazer. Tusruktu inge grape sunom ac fokinsak lom ke pacl fol uh sikiyukla.
33 There's no more celebration and happiness in Moab's orchards and fields. I have stopped the grape juice flowing from the winepresses. No one shouts for joy as they tread out the grapes. No, their shouts now are not because of joy!
Wanginla pusren engan ac insewowo in facl Moab, sie acn ma wo fohk we. Nga tulokinya wain in tia soror liki nien orek wain. Wanginna mwet in fut grape uh, oru wangin sasa ke engan.
34 Cries for help reach from Heshbon to Elealeh and all the way to Jahaz. They're shouting out from Zoar to Horonaim and Eglath-shelishiyah, for even the water in the Nimrim Brook has dried up.
“Mwet Heshbon ac Elealeh wowoyak tung, ac pusralos ku in lohngyuk oe Jahaz. Ku in lohngyuk pac sin mwet Zoar, ac lohngyuk pac e Horonaim ac Eglath Shelishiyah. Finne infacl srisrik Nimrim, paola pac.
35 I'm going to finish off those in Moab who sacrifice on the pagan high places and burn incense to their gods, declares the Lord.
Nga fah tulokinya mwet Moab liki orek mwe kisa firir ke acn in alu lalos, ac liki orek kisa nu sin god lalos. Nga, LEUM GOD, pa fahk ma inge.
36 So I mourn inside like a flute playing a sad song for Moab; like a flute playing a funeral tune for the people of Kir-heres, because they've lost everything of value that they worked for.
“Ouinge insiuk eoksra kacl Moab ac ke mwet Kir Heres, oana sie mwet su oru on in pukmas ke mwe ukuk natul, mweyen ma nukewa lalos wanginla.
37 As signs of their mourning, every head is shaved, every beard is trimmed, every hand has a gash, and every waist is wearing sackcloth.
Ke sripen asor lalos, elos nukewa mangsrasrala ac kalla altalos. Elos nukewa sipik paolos, ac nukum nuknuk yohk eoa.
38 Everyone is mourning on all the flat roofs and streets of Moab, because I have smashed the country like a jar nobody wants, declares the Lord.
Fin lohm nukewa Moab ac ke nien toeni nukewa, wangin ma orek sayen eoksra, mweyen nga fukulya acn Moab oana soko sufa fukulyuki ma wangin mwet enenu.
39 Moab is completely shattered! Listen to them cry! See how the Moabites turn away in shame! All the surrounding nations are horrified at what's happened to the country, and ridicule its people.
Kowos in wowoyak ke tung, mweyen acn Moab fukulyuki ac akmwekinyeyuk. El kunanula ac mutunfacl nukewa raunelak israsrinkusrael. Nga, LEUM GOD, pa fahk ma inge.”
40 This is what the Lord says: Watch as an enemy like an eagle swoops down, spreading its wings as it attacks Moab.
LEUM GOD El wulela mu sie mutunfacl ac fah tuhwi nu fin Moab, oana sie eagle ma asroelik posohksok lal,
41 Kirioth has been conquered, and the fortresses captured. At that time Moab's warriors will be as scared as a woman in labor.
na siti ac pot ku nukewa ac fah sruoh. In len sac mwet mweun lun Moab ac fah arulana sangeng, oana sie mutan ke pacl in isus lal.
42 Moab will cease to exist as a nation because they defied the Lord.
Moab ac sikiyuk tuh in tia sifilpa sie mutunfacl, mweyen el likkeke lainyu.
43 You people living in Moab, what's waiting for you are terror, traps, and snares, declares the Lord.
Sangeng, ac luf, ac sruhf oan soano mwet Moab. LEUM GOD pa fahk ma inge.
44 You will run away in terror and fall into a trap, and when you climb out of the trap, you'll be caught in a snare. I will do this to the Moabites at the time when they're punished, declares the Lord.
Kutena mwet su srike in kaingla liki mwe aksangeng inge fah putatyang nu in luf uh, ac kutena mwet su fanyak liki luf uh, ac fah sremla ke sruhf, mweyen LEUM GOD El oakiya tari pacl in kalyei nu sin Moab.
45 Those who run away will be left defenseless in Heshbon where they went for protection, because fire blazes out from Heshbon, a fire from where Sihon once reigned. It burns up the whole country of Moab and its defiant people.
Mwet uh kaing in suk molela in acn Heshbon, siti se ma Tokosra Sihon el tuh leumi meet, tusruktu firiryak acn we. E uh esukak mangon eol ac masrol lun acn sin mwet Moab su lungsena orek mweun.
46 What a disaster has come to you Moabites! The people of Chemosh have been wiped out. Your sons and daughters have been taken prisoner and have gone into exile.
Pakomuta mwet Moab! Kunausyukla mwet ma alu nu sel Chemosh, ac utukla wen ac acn natulos nu in sruoh.
47 But even so, later on, I will bring the people of Moab back from exile, declares the Lord. This is the end of the description of the judgment on Moab.
Tusruktu sie len, LEUM GOD El ac fah sifil akwoyeak acn Moab. LEUM GOD El fahk lah ma inge nukewa ac sikyak nu ke acn Moab.
