< Jeremiah 48 >

1 This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says about Moab: Disaster is coming to the town of Nebo, because it will be destroyed. The town of Kiriathaim will be captured and humiliated; the fortress will be torn down and its people shamed.
Israel Pathen caempuei BOEIPA loh Moab ham he ni a thui. Anunae Nebo aih te, a rhoelrhak neh yak vetih a tuuk ni. Kiriathaim khaw yak vetih a imsang khaw rhihyawp ni.
2 No one praises Moab anymore. People in Heshbon are plotting, “We will destroy Moab as a nation. People of the town of Madmen, we will silence you too—you will be attacked by swords and chased down.”
Moab koehnah te koep om mahpawh. Heshbon ah anih te a moeh tih boethae loh a pongpa thil. Madmen khaw namtom lamloh saii uh sih. Namah hnukah cunghang loh m'paan daengah na kuemsuem bitni.
3 Listen to the cries from Horonaim: “Violence and terrible destruction!”
Horonaim lamkah rhoelrhanah pangngawlnah ol neh pocinah tanglue aih te.
4 Moab will be smashed. Hear the little ones crying for help.
Moab te bawt vetih a pang te a canoi loh a yaak ni.
5 People weep as they go up to Luhith; and as they come down to Horonaim their sad cries at the destruction echo around.
Luhith kah Luhith tangkham te a rhah a rhah doeah luei. Horonaim singling ah khaw rhal taengkah pocinah pangngawlnah te a yaak uh.
6 Run away! Save yourselves! Be like a scrawny tamarisk tree in the desert!
Rhaelrham lamtah na hinglu ham poenghal puei laeh. Khosoek kah koknai bangla na om coeng.
7 It's because you put your confidence in what you do and what you own that you too will be captured. Your god Chemosh will be taken into exile along with his priests and leaders.
Na bibi neh na thakvoh dongah na pangtung dongah namah khaw n'tuuk pawn ni. Khemosh kah a khosoih rhoek neh a mangpa rhoek vangsawn la rhenten a khuen ni.
8 The invaders will attack every town; not a single one will escape destruction. The valley will be ruined, and the plain will be destroyed, for the Lord has spoken.
Khopuei tom ah aka rhoelrhak te ha pawk vetih khopuei te loeih mahpawh. BOEIPA loh a thui coeng dongah tuikol loh moelh vetih tlangkol tim ni.
9 Put up gravestones in Moab, because the country will become a wasteland. Its towns will be turned into ruins where no one lives.
Moab te ding sak ham a phae pae lamtah khuen laeh saeh. A khopuei te imsuep la om vetih a khuiah khosa om mahpawh.
10 A curse on those who don't do the Lord's work properly. A curse on those who don't use their swords to kill.
Vuelvaeknah neh BOEIPA kah bitat aka saii tah thae a phoei coeng tih ak thii lamloh a cunghang aka hloh khaw thae a phoei thil.
11 The people of Moab have been living comfortably since the country was founded. They're like wine that hasn't been disturbed, not poured from one container to another. So the taste and fragrance remains the same. They haven't experienced exile.
Moab he a camoe lamloh rhalthal tih a sampa dongah mong te. Am khat lamloh am khat dongla kong noek pawt tih vangsawn la a caeh noek moenih. A khuikah a omih te cak tangloeng tih a bo khaw sap pawh.
12 But watch out, the time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will send them “winemakers” who will pour them out like wine. They will empty out the Moabites, and smash them like jars.
Te dongah BOEIPA kah olphong khohnin ha pawk tangloeng he. Hlang aka khuum rhoek te a taengla ka tueih vetih anih a khuum uh ni. A am te a khawk pah vetih a khap a thaeh pah ni.
13 Then the Moabites will feel let down by Chemosh, just as the people of Israel felt let down when they trusted in the golden calf idol at Bethel.
A pangtungnah Bethel kah Israel imkhui a yah bangla Khemosh kongah Moab te yak ni.
14 How on earth can you Moabites say, “We're heroes, strong men ready to fight in battle”?
Balae tih, “Kaimih kah hlangrhalh rhoek neh tatthai hlang caemtloek la om,” na ti uh?
15 Moab is going to be destroyed and its towns conquered. Its finest young men will be killed, declares the King, whose name is the Lord Almighty.
Moab a rhoelrhak vetih a khopuei khuen ni. A tongpang hlangrhoei rhoek te a maeh la suntla uh ni. A ming dongah caempuei BOEIPA manghai kah olphong ni.
16 Moab's doom is about to happen; destruction is rushing down on them.
Moab rhainah ha pawk ham yoei coeng tih a boethae loh bahoeng loe ni.
17 Mourn for them, all you surrounding nations, everyone who knows them! Let others know how the great scepter has been smashed, the rod that once proudly ruled!
A kaepvai boeih neh a ming aka ming boeih loh anih te a suem uh tih, “Balae tih sarhi caitueng, boeimang cungkui khaw a paep,” ti uh laeh.
18 Come down from your glory and sit on the dusty ground, you who live in Dibon, for Moab's destroyer will come and attack you, destroying your fortresses.
Dibon nu dongkah khosa rhoek aw thangpomnah dongkah khosak lamloh rhum lamtah tuihalh dongla ngol uh laeh. Moab aka rhoelrhak loh nang te m'paan vetih na hmuencak te a phae ni.
19 Stand at the roadside and watch, you who live in Aroer. Ask the men and women who are running away to escape, “What's happened?”
Longpuei taengah pai lamtah Aroer khosa rhoek ke tawt ne. Aka rhaelrham pa neh aka loeih nu te dawt lamtah, “Balae aka om,” ti na uh.
20 Moab has been humiliated because it has been defeated. Weep and wail! Shout out beside the River Arnon that Moab has been destroyed!
Moab khaw rhihyawp tih yak coeng. Rhung la, rhung lamtah pang khaw pang mai laeh. Moab a rhoelrhak te Arnon ah puen pah.
21 Punishment has arrived on the towns of the high plain—on Holon, Jahzah, and Mephaath,
Te dongah laitloeknah he tlangkol khohmuen la, Holon la, Jahzah neh Mephaath la,
22 on Dibon, Nebo, and Beth-diblathaim,
Dibon la, Nebo la, Beth-diblathaim la,
23 on Kiriathaim, Beth-gamul, and Beth-meon,
Kiriathaim la, Bethgamul neh Bethmeon la,
24 on Kerioth, Bozrah, and on all the towns of Moab, whether far away or nearby.
Kerioth la, Bozrah neh Moab khohmuen khopuei a yoei a hla boeih la pawk coeng.
25 Moab's strength is gone; their power has been broken, declares the Lord.
Moab ki ngun coeng tih a ban khaw khaem coeng. He tah BOEIPA kah olphong ni.
26 Make the people of Moab drunk, because they defied the Lord. Then they will roll around in their own vomit, as people laugh at them.
BOEIPA te a pantai thil dongah anih te rhuihmil sak. Te daengah ni Moab te a lok dongah kut a paeng vetih amah khaw nueihbu la a om eh.
27 Didn't you Moabites used to ridicule the Israelites? But they weren't ever found to be thieves, were they? Yet whenever you talk about them, you shake your heads in contempt.
Israel khaw nang ham tah nueihbu la om het pawt nim? Na ol neh anih na hnet dingdoeng bangla hlanghuen lakli ah a hmuh khaw a hmuh a?
28 You people living in Moab, run from your towns, go and live among the rocks. Be like a dove nesting on the cliffs at the entrance to a ravine.
Moab khosa rhoek aw khopuei te hnoo uh lamtah thaelpang ah khosa uh. Rhalvangan kah rhom rhai ah butuk uh lamtah, vahui bangla om uh.
29 We know all about how pompous Moabites are, how extremely proud and conceited they are, arrogantly thinking so highly of themselves.
Moab kah hoemdamnah neh thinthah pangkha la a oeknah neh a hoemdamnah khaw, a hoemnah neh a lungbuei buhuengpomnah khaw ka yaak uh coeng.
30 I'm well aware of how disrespectful they are, declares the Lord, but it doesn't matter. They make empty boasts, and what they do is just as empty.
Kai tah BOEIPA kah a thinpom olphong khaw ka ming dae a olsai tangloeng pawt tih a saii van moenih.
31 So I will weep for Moab; I will cry out for all the Moabites; I will mourn for the people of Kir-heres.
Te dongah Moab ham ka rhung tangloeng coeng, Moab ham a pum la ka pang. Kirhareseth hlang ham a thuep.
32 will weep for you, people of the town of Sibmah with its vineyards, more than I weep for the town of Jazer. Your vines have spread to the sea, and all the way to Jazer. But the destroyer has stolen your harvest of summer fruit and grapes.
Jazer kah a rhah lakah Sibam misur nang ham ka rhap. Na baek te tuipuei la yam tih Jazer tuipuei duela a pha. Na khohal thaih neh na misurbit te aka rhoelrhak loh a cuhu sak.
33 There's no more celebration and happiness in Moab's orchards and fields. I have stopped the grape juice flowing from the winepresses. No one shouts for joy as they tread out the grapes. No, their shouts now are not because of joy!
Kohoenah neh omngaihnah he cangphil cangngol lamkah, Moab khohmuen lamkah ni. Tedae khum coeng tih, va-am dongkah misurtui ka kak sak. Tamlung khaw tamlung pawt ah, tamlung neh neet boel saeh.
34 Cries for help reach from Heshbon to Elealeh and all the way to Jahaz. They're shouting out from Zoar to Horonaim and Eglath-shelishiyah, for even the water in the Nimrim Brook has dried up.
Heshbon lamkah a pang te Elealeh duela, Jahaz duela, Zoar lamloh vaito Horonaim duela a ol a huel uh. Nimrim tui khaw rhaerhap la om coeng.
35 I'm going to finish off those in Moab who sacrifice on the pagan high places and burn incense to their gods, declares the Lord.
He tah BOEIPA kah olphong ni. Moab kah hmuensang ah aka pongpa tih a pathen taengah aka phum rhoek te ka kangkuen sak ni.
36 So I mourn inside like a flute playing a sad song for Moab; like a flute playing a funeral tune for the people of Kir-heres, because they've lost everything of value that they worked for.
Te dongah ka lungbuei he Moab ham tah phitphoet bangla cai tih ka lungbuei he Kirhareseth hlang ham phitphoet bangla cai. Te dongah koeva a tung te paltham coeng.
37 As signs of their mourning, every head is shaved, every beard is trimmed, every hand has a gash, and every waist is wearing sackcloth.
A lu khaw boeih lungawng tih hmuimul khaw boeih a kuet uh. A kut hma khaw cungkuem tih, a cinghen ah tlamhni a yen.
38 Everyone is mourning on all the flat roofs and streets of Moab, because I have smashed the country like a jar nobody wants, declares the Lord.
Moab imphu tom neh a toltung tom ah a rhaengsae uh. Moab te a ngaih pawh hnopai bangla ka phaek coeng. He tah BOEIPA kah olphong ni.
39 Moab is completely shattered! Listen to them cry! See how the Moabites turn away in shame! All the surrounding nations are horrified at what's happened to the country, and ridicule its people.
Rhihyawp tih rhung kanoek a? Moab loh rhawn a maelh te yak kanoek a? Te dongah Moab he nueihbu la, a kaepvai boeih te porhaknah la poeh.
40 This is what the Lord says: Watch as an enemy like an eagle swoops down, spreading its wings as it attacks Moab.
He ni BOEIPA loh a thui. atha bangla ding tih Moab soah a phae a khuk.
41 Kirioth has been conquered, and the fortresses captured. At that time Moab's warriors will be as scared as a woman in labor.
Kerioth te a tuuk vetih rhalmahim te a loh pah ni. Te khohnin ah tah Moab hlangrhalh lungbuei ah huta puencak kah lungbuei bangla om ni.
42 Moab will cease to exist as a nation because they defied the Lord.
BOEIPA te a taloeh thil dongah Moab he pilnam lamloh mitmoeng ni.
43 You people living in Moab, what's waiting for you are terror, traps, and snares, declares the Lord.
Moab khosa nang ham birhihnah rhom neh pael om coeng lah ko. He tah BOEIPA kah olphong ni.
44 You will run away in terror and fall into a trap, and when you climb out of the trap, you'll be caught in a snare. I will do this to the Moabites at the time when they're punished, declares the Lord.
Ngaihuet neh birhihnah hmai lamloh aka rhaelrham te rhom ah cungku ni. Rhom lamloh aka yoeng te khaw pael neh a boh ni. Moab loh a sokah a cawhnah kum te amah soah ka thoeng sak ni. He tah BOEIPA kah olphong ni.
45 Those who run away will be left defenseless in Heshbon where they went for protection, because fire blazes out from Heshbon, a fire from where Sihon once reigned. It burns up the whole country of Moab and its defiant people.
Heshbon hlip ah aka pai te Heshbon lamkah hmai loh a coe thil tih thadueng om kolla rhaelrham coeng. Te vaengah Sihon laklo lamkah hmaisai loh Moab baengki neh longlonah ca rhoek kah luki te a hlawp pah.
46 What a disaster has come to you Moabites! The people of Chemosh have been wiped out. Your sons and daughters have been taken prisoner and have gone into exile.
Anunae Moab nang aih te, Khemosh kah pilnam tah milh coeng. Na ca rhoek te tamna la, na canu rhoek tamna la a khuen uh coeng.
47 But even so, later on, I will bring the people of Moab back from exile, declares the Lord. This is the end of the description of the judgment on Moab.
Hmailong tue ah tah Moab thongtla te ka mael puei ni. BOEIPA kah olphong coeng ni. He hil he Moab ham laitloeknah coeng ni.
