3 Pray to the Lord your God for all of us. As you can see there's only a few of us left compared to how many there were before. In your prayer please ask the Lord your God to tell where to go and what to do.”
Gbàdúrà pé kí Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ sọ ibi tí àwa yóò lọ fún wa àti ohun tí àwa yóò ṣe.”
4 “I'll do as you ask,” Jeremiah replied. “I will definitely pray to the Lord your God as you've requested, and I'll tell you everything he says. I won't keep anything back from you.”
Wòlíì Jeremiah sì dáhùn wí pé, “Mo ti gbọ́. Èmi yóò gbàdúrà sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín gẹ́gẹ́ bí ẹ̀yin ṣe béèrè. Èmi yóò sọ gbogbo ohun tí Olúwa bá sọ fún un yín, ń kò sì ní fi ohunkóhun pamọ́ fún un yín.”
5 Then they said to Jeremiah, “May the Lord be a true and faithful witness against us if we don't do everything that the Lord your God tells you we should.
Nígbà náà ni wọ́n sọ fún Jeremiah wí pé, “Kí Olúwa ṣe ẹlẹ́rìí òtítọ́ àti òdodo láàrín wa, bí àwa kò bá ṣe gẹ́gẹ́ bí gbogbo ohun tí Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ bá rán ọ láti sọ fún wa.
6 Good or bad, we will obey what the Lord our God says, the one we're asking you to speak to. That way everything will go well with us, because we will be obeying what the Lord our God says.”
Ìbá à ṣe rere, ìbá à ṣe búburú, àwa yóò gbọ́rọ̀ sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run wa, èyí tí àwa ń rán ọ sí, kí ó ba à lè dára fún wa. Nítorí pé àwa yóò gbọ́rọ̀ sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run wa.”
7 Ten days later a message from the Lord came to Jeremiah.
Lẹ́yìn ọjọ́ mẹ́wàá, ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa tọ Jeremiah wá,
8 He summoned Johanan, all the army commanders, and everyone from the least to the most important.
O sì pe Johanani ọmọkùnrin Karea àti gbogbo àwọn olórí ogun tí wọ́n wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀; àti gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn láti orí ẹni tí ó kéré dé orí ẹni ńlá.
9 Jeremiah told them, This what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to those of who you sent to me to present your request:
Ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa Ọlọ́run àwọn Israẹli wí: ‘Èyí ni ẹni tí ẹ̀yin ti rán láti gbé ẹ̀bẹ̀ yín lọ síwájú mi.
10 If you will stay right here in this country, then I will build you up and I won't tear you down; I will plant you and I won't uproot you; because I'm very sad about the disaster I have brought down on you.
Bí ẹ̀yin bá gbé ní ilẹ̀ yìí, èmi yóò gbé e yín ró, n kò sí ní fà yín lulẹ̀, èmi yóò gbìn yín, n kì yóò fà yín tu nítorí wí pé èmi yí ọkàn padà ní ti ibi tí mo ti ṣe sí i yín.
11 I know you fear the king of Babylon, but you don't need to be afraid of him, declares the Lord. I am with you to save you and rescue you from him.
Ẹ má ṣe bẹ̀rù ọba Babeli tí ẹ̀yin ń bẹ̀rù, báyìí ẹ má ṣe bẹ̀rù rẹ̀ ni Olúwa wí; nítorí tí èmi wà pẹ̀lú yín láti pa yín mọ́ àti láti gbà yín ní ọwọ́ rẹ̀.
12 I will be merciful to you, so that he will be merciful to you and will let you stay in your own country.
Èmi yóò fi àánú hàn sí i yín, kí ó lè ṣàánú fún un yín, kí ó sì mú un yín padà sí ilẹ̀ yín.’
13 But if you say, “We won't stay here in this country,” and by doing so disobey what the Lord your God says;
“Ṣùgbọ́n sá, bí ẹ̀yin bá wí pé, ‘Àwa kò ní gbé ilẹ̀ yìí,’ ẹ̀yin ti ṣe àìgbọ́ràn sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín.
14 or if you say instead, “No, we're going to Egypt to live there, where we won't experience war or hear trumpets sounding or go hungry;”
Àti pé bí ẹ̀yin bá wí pé, ‘Bẹ́ẹ̀ kọ́, àwa yóò lọ gbé ní Ejibiti; níbi tí àwa kì yóò rí ìró ogunkógun, tí a kì yóò sì gbọ́ ìró fèrè, tí ebi oúnjẹ kì yóò sì pa wá, níbẹ̀ ni àwa ó sì máa gbé,’
15 then listen to what the Lord says, you survivors from Judah! This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: If you're absolutely determined to go to Egypt and live there,
nítorí náà, ẹ gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa ẹ̀yin ìyókù Juda èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa Ọlọ́run àwọn ọmọ-ogun Israẹli wí: ‘Bí ẹ̀yin bá pinnu láti lọ sí Ejibiti láti lọ ṣe àtìpó níbẹ̀.
16 then the war you're so frightened of will catch up with you there, and the famine you're so terrified of will chase after you into Egypt, and you will die there.
Yóò sì ṣe, idà tí ẹ̀yin bẹ̀rù yóò sì lé e yín bá níbẹ̀; àti ìyanu náà tí ẹ̀yin ń bẹ̀rù yóò sì tẹ̀lé yín lọ sí Ejibiti àti pé ibẹ̀ ni ẹ̀yin yóò kú sí.
17 Everyone who decides to go to Egypt and live there will die by war and famine and disease. Not a single one will survive or escape the disaster I will bring down on them.
Nítorí náà, gbogbo àwọn tí ó ti pinnu láti ṣe àtìpó ní Ejibiti ni yóò ti ipa idà kú, ìyàn àti àjàkálẹ̀-ààrùn kò sì ní jẹ́ kí ẹnikẹ́ni nínú wọn yè tàbí sá àsálà nínú ibi tí èmi yóò mú wá sórí wọn.’
18 This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: In the same way that my furious anger was poured out on the people living in Jerusalem, so will my anger be poured out on you if you go to Egypt. People will be horrified at what happens to you, and you will become a curse word, an insult, an expression of condemnation. You won't ever see your homeland again.
Báyìí ni ohun tí Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun Ọlọ́run Israẹli wí: ‘Gẹ́gẹ́ bí èmi ti da ìbínú àti ìrunú síta sórí àwọn tí ó ń gbé ní Jerusalẹmu, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ìrunú mi yóò dà síta sórí yín, nígbà tí ẹ̀yin bá lọ sí Ejibiti. Ẹ̀yin ó sì di ẹni ègún àti ẹni ẹ̀gàn àti ẹ̀sín, ẹ̀yin kì yóò sì rí ibí yìí mọ́.’
19 “The Lord has told you, survivors from Judah, ‘Don't go to Egypt,’” Jeremiah concluded. “Be absolutely clear about this warning I'm giving you today!
“Ẹ̀yin yòókù Juda, Olúwa ti sọ fún un yín pé, ‘Kí ẹ má ṣe lọ sí Ejibiti.’ Ẹ mọ èyí dájú, èmi kìlọ̀ fún un yín lónìí,
20 You've made a big mistake that will cost you your lives by sending me to the Lord your God, asking, ‘Pray to the Lord our God for us, and let us know everything the Lord our God says and we'll do it.’
pé àṣìṣe ńlá gbá à ni ẹ̀yin ṣe nígbà tí ẹ̀yin rán mi sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín pé, ‘Gbàdúrà sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run wa fún wa; sọ fún wa gbogbo ohun tí ó bá sọ, àwa yóò sì ṣe é.’
21 I have told you today what he said, but you have not obeyed everything the Lord your God sent me to tell you.
Mo ti sọ fún un yín lónìí, ṣùgbọ́n síbẹ̀ ẹ̀yin kò tí ì gbọ́ ohùn Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín, àti gbogbo ohun tí ó rán mi láti sọ fún un yín.
22 So you should know that without question you're going to die by war and famine and disease in Egypt where you want to go and live.”
Ǹjẹ́ nísinsin yìí ẹ mọ èyí dájú pé, ẹ̀yin yóò kú nípa idà, ìyàn àti àjàkálẹ̀-ààrùn níbikíbi tí ẹ̀yin bá fẹ́ lọ láti ṣe àtìpó.”
