< Jeremiah 28 >
1 This is what happened in the beginning of the reign of King Zedekiah of Judah, in the fifth month of that same year, the fourth year. The prophet Hananiah, son of Azzur, who was from Gibeon, told me in the Lord's Temple in front of the priests and all the people:
Mu mwezi ogwokutaano ogw’omwaka gwe gumu, gwe mwaka ogwokuna, obufuzi bwa Zeddekiya kabaka wa Yuda nga bw’akatandika, nnabbi Kananiya omwana wa Azuri eyali abeera e Gibyoni n’aŋŋambira mu nnyumba ya Mukama nga bakabona n’abantu bonna we bali nti,
2 “This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
“Bw’ati bw’ayogera Mukama ow’Eggye, Katonda wa Isirayiri nti, ‘Nzija kumenya ekikoligo kya kabaka w’e Babulooni.
3 Before two years have passed I'm going to bring back to Jerusalem all the Temple objects that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon removed and took to Babylon.
Emyaka ebiri nga teginnaggwaako, ndikomyawo ebintu by’omu nnyumba ya Mukama mu kifo kino, Nebukadduneeza kabaka w’e Babulooni bye yaggya wano n’abitwala e Babulooni.
4 I will also bring back to Jerusalem Jehoiachin, son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, together with all the exiles from Judah who were taken to Babylon, declares the Lord, because I'm going to break the yoke of the king of Babylon.”
Era ndikomyawo wano Yekoyakini mutabani wa Yekoyakimu kabaka wa Yuda n’abantu abalala bonna abaava mu Yuda abaatwalibwa e Babulooni,’ bw’ayogera Mukama, ‘kubanga ndimenya ekikoligo kya kabaka w’e Babulooni.’”
5 Then the prophet Jeremiah responded to the prophet Hananiah in front of the priests and all the people who were standing in the Lord's Temple.
Awo nnabbi Yeremiya n’addamu mu bunnabbi bwa Kananiya nga ne bakabona n’abantu bonna we bali bayimiridde mu nnyumba ya Mukama, n’agamba nti,
6 “Amen!” said Jeremiah. “I wish the Lord would do just that! I wish the Lord would fulfill your prophetic words and bring back Temple objects and all the exiles back to Jerusalem from Babylon.
“Amiina! Bw’atyo Mukama bw’aba akola! Mukama atuukirize ebigambo by’oyogedde ng’akomyawo ebintu eby’omu nnyumba ya Mukama era n’abawambe bonna abakomyewo mu kifo kino okuva mu Babulooni.
7 But even so, pay attention to this message I'm going to tell you and everyone here.
Wabula, wuliriza kye ŋŋenda okwogera ng’owuliriza n’abantu bano bonna nga bawulira.
8 The prophets of long ago who came before you and me prophesied war, disaster, and disease against many countries and great kingdoms.
Okuva edda n’edda bannabbi abaatusooka, ggwe nange baategeezanga kubaawo kwa ntalo, na bikangabwa na kawumpuli okugwa ku mawanga n’obwakabaka obw’amaanyi.
9 When it comes to a prophet who prophesies peace, see if their prophecies come true. Only that will prove they are really sent by the Lord.”
Naye nnabbi eyategeeza obunnabbi obw’emirembe ajja kulabibwa nga ddala atumiddwa Mukama era ng’obubaka bw’ategeeza butuukiridde.”
10 Then the prophet Hananiah removed the yoke from the prophet Jeremiah's neck and broke it.
Awo nnabbi Kananiya n’alyoka akwata ekikoligo ekyali ku nsingo ya Yeremiya n’akimenya,
11 Hananiah announced in front of everyone, “This is what the Lord says: Just like this, before two years have passed I will break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all the nations.” Jeremiah the prophet left.
n’alyoka ayogera eri abantu bonna nti, “Bw’ati bw’ayogera Mukama nti, ‘Mu ngeri y’emu bw’eti, bwe ndimenya ekikoligo ekya Nebukadduneeza kabaka w’e Babulooni okuva ku mawanga gonna mu myaka ebiri.’” Naye ye nnabbi Yeremiya n’avaawo ne yeetambulira.
12 However, right after Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke from his neck, a message of the Lord came to Jeremiah:
Bwe waayitawo ebbanga ttono nga nnabbi Kananiya amenye ekikoligo ku nsingo ya Yeremiya, ekigambo kya Mukama ne kijjira Yeremiya nti,
13 “Go and tell Hananiah that this is what the Lord says: You may have broken a wooden yoke of wood, but you have replaced it with an iron yoke.
“Genda ogambe Kananiya nti, ‘Bw’ati bw’ayogera Mukama nti, Omenye ekikoligo kya muti naye mu kifo kyakyo ojja kufunamu kikoligo kya kyuma.
14 This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: I have tied iron yokes on the necks of all these nations to force them to serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and they will serve him. I have even given him control over the wild animals.”
Bw’ati bw’ayogera Mukama ow’Eggye, Katonda wa Isirayiri nti, Nditeeka ekikoligo eky’ekyuma mu nsingo z’amawanga gano gonna baweereze Nebukadduneeza kabaka w’e Babulooni era balimuweereza. Ndimuwa obuyinza n’ensolo azifuge.’”
15 Then the prophet Jeremiah said to the prophet Hananiah, “Listen to this, Hananiah! The Lord didn't send you, but you have convinced these people to believe in a lie.
Awo nnabbi Yeremiya n’agamba nnabbi Kananiya nti, “Wuliriza, Kananiya! Mukama tannakutuma naye ggwe owalirizza eggwanga lino okwesiga obulimba.
16 So this is what the Lord says: I'm going to get rid of you from the earth. You will die this year because you have promoted rebellion against the Lord.”
Noolwekyo kino Mukama kyagamba nti, ‘Ndikumpi okukuggya ku nsi. Omwaka guno gwennyini ogenda kufa, kubanga oyigirizza abantu okujeemera Mukama.’”
17 The prophet Hananiah died in the seventh month of that very year.
Mu mwezi ogw’omusanvu ogw’omwaka gwe gumu, Kananiya n’afa.
