Jeremiah 23
1 What trouble is coming to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! declares the Lord.
“¡Ay de los pastores que destruyen y dispersan las ovejas de mi prado!”, dice el Señor.
2 This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says about the shepherds who were meant to look after my people: You have scattered my flock. You have chased them away You didn't take care of them, so now I will take care of you for all the evil you've done, declares the Lord.
Por eso Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, dice contra los pastores que apacientan a mi pueblo “Ustedes han dispersado mi rebaño, lo han alejado y no lo han visitado. He aquí que yo visitaré sobre ustedes el mal de sus acciones”, dice el Señor.
3 I myself will gather what's left of my flock from all the countries where I exiled them, and I will bring them back to their pasture, where they will increase in number.
“Reuniré el remanente de mi rebaño de todas las tierras a las que lo he expulsado, y lo devolveré a sus rebaños; y será fecundo y se multiplicará.
4 I will put shepherds in charge of them who will take care of them, and they won't be afraid or discouraged anymore, and none of them will be missing, declares the Lord.
Pondré sobre ellas pastores que las apacienten. Ya no tendrán miedo ni se desanimarán, ni les faltará nada”, dice Yahvé.
5 Look, the time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will choose a descendant of David who does what is right. As king he will rule with wisdom and do what is just and right throughout the country.
“He aquí que llegan los días”, dice Yahvé, “que levantaré a David una rama justa; y reinará como rey y tratará con sabiduría, y hará justicia y rectitud en la tierra.
6 When he is king, Judah will be saved, and Israel will live in safety. This is the name he will be called: The Lord Who Makes Us Right.
En sus días Judá se salvará, e Israel habitará con seguridad. Este es el nombre por el que será llamado: Yahvé, nuestra justicia.
7 Look, the time is coming, declares the Lord, when people won't say anymore, “On the Lord's life, who led the Israelites out of Egypt.”
“Por tanto, he aquí que vienen días — dice Yahvé — en que ya no dirán: “Vive Yahvé, que sacó a los hijos de Israel de la tierra de Egipto”;
8 Instead they'll say, “On the Lord's life, who led the Israelites back from the northern country and all the other countries where he had exiled them.” Then they'll live in their own country.
sino: “Vive Yahvé, que sacó y condujo a la descendencia de la casa de Israel de la tierra del norte y de todas las tierras a las que los había expulsado”. Entonces habitarán en su propia tierra”.
9 When it comes to the prophets: I'm really disturbed—I'm shaking inside! I stagger like a drunk, like someone who's had too much wine, because of what the Lord is like, because of his holy words.
Con respecto a los profetas: Mi corazón está roto por dentro. Todos mis huesos tiemblan. Soy como un borracho, y como un hombre al que el vino ha vencido, a causa de Yahvé, y por sus santas palabras.
10 For the country is full of people committing adultery so it's under a curse. The land mourns and the desert pastures have dried up. The people live evil lives, using their energy to do wrong.
“Porque la tierra está llena de adúlteros; porque a causa de la maldición la tierra está de luto. Los pastos del desierto se han secado. Su curso es malvado, y su poderío no es correcto;
11 Both prophets and priests show no respect for me. I see wickedness even in my Temple, declares the Lord.
pues tanto el profeta como el sacerdote son profanos. Sí, en mi casa he encontrado su maldad”, dice Yahvé.
12 That's why their path will become slippery; they will be chased away in the dark and fall down. I'm going to bring disaster on them at the time when they're punished, declares the Lord.
Por eso su camino será para ellos como lugares resbaladizos en la oscuridad. Serán conducidos, y caer en ella; porque traeré el mal sobre ellos, hasta el año de su visita”, dice Yahvé.
13 I saw the prophets of Samaria doing something really offensive: They prophesied in the name of Baal and led my people Israel to sin.
“He visto locura en los profetas de Samaria. Profetizaron por Baal, y ha hecho errar a mi pueblo Israel.
14 But now I see the prophets of Jerusalem doing something even more disgusting: They commit adultery and their lives are a lie. They support the wicked, so no one stops sinning. To me they're all like Sodom; the people of Jerusalem are like Gomorrah.
En los profetas de Jerusalén también he visto una cosa horrible: cometen adulterio y andan en la mentira. Fortalecen las manos de los malhechores, para que nadie vuelva de su maldad. Todos se han vuelto para mí como Sodoma, y sus habitantes como Gomorra”.
15 So this is what the Lord Almighty says about the prophets: I will give them wormwood to eat and poisoned water to drink, because evil has spread across the country from the prophets of Jerusalem.
Por lo tanto, el Señor de los Ejércitos dice sobre los profetas: “He aquí que los alimentaré con ajenjo, y hacerles beber agua envenenada; porque de los profetas de Jerusalén ha salido la impiedad en toda la tierra”.
16 This is what the Lord Almighty says: Don't pay attention to what these prophets say when they prophesy to you. They're fooling you with visions they make up in their own minds. They're not from me.
El Señor de los Ejércitos dice, “No escuchéis las palabras de los profetas que os profetizan. Te enseñan la vanidad. Hablan una visión de su propio corazón, y no de la boca de Yahvé.
17 They keep on telling people who don't respect me, “The Lord says that you'll live in peace,” and to everyone following their own stubborn attitude, “Nothing bad is going to happen to you.”
Dicen continuamente a los que me desprecian, ‘Yahvé ha dicho: “Tendrás paz”;’ y a todo aquel que camina en la terquedad de su propio corazón le dicen, ‘Ningún mal caerá sobre ti’.
18 But who of them has attended the Lord's council to hear and understand what he's saying? Who has paid attention to his instructions and followed them?
Pues quién ha estado en el consejo de Yahvé, para que perciba y escuche su palabra? ¿Quién ha escuchado mi palabra y la ha oído?
19 Watch out! The Lord has sent out a furious storm, a tornado swirling around the heads of the wicked.
He aquí que la tormenta de Yahvé, su ira, ha salido. ¡Sí, una tormenta de remolinos! Estallará en la cabeza de los malvados.
20 The Lord's anger won't fade until he's finished doing everything he wants. Only then will you really understand.
La ira de Yahvé no volverá hasta que haya ejecutado y realizó las intenciones de su corazón. En los últimos días, lo entenderás perfectamente.
21 I didn't send these prophets, but they run to deliver their messages. I didn't tell them to say anything, but they still go on prophesying.
Yo no envié a estos profetas, y sin embargo corrieron. No les hablé, y sin embargo profetizaron.
22 Now if they had attended my council, they would have delivered my instructions to my people and brought them back from their evil way of life, from their evil actions.
Pero si hubieran estado en mi consejo, entonces habrían hecho que mi pueblo escuchara mis palabras, y los habría alejado de su mal camino, y de la maldad de sus actos.
23 Am I only a local God and not a God who operates widely? asks the Lord.
“Soy un Dios cercano”, dice Yahvé, “¿y no un Dios lejano?
24 Can people hide in secret places where I can't see them? asks the Lord. Don't I operate everywhere in heaven and on earth? asks the Lord.
¿Puede alguien esconderse en lugares secretos ¿para que no lo vea?”, dice Yahvé. “¿No lleno yo el cielo y la tierra?”, dice Yahvé.
25 I've listened to the prophets who prophesy lies in my name. They say, “I've had a dream! I've had a dream!”
“He oído lo que han dicho los profetas, que profetizan mentiras en mi nombre, diciendo: “¡He tenido un sueño! He tenido un sueño”.
26 How long will this continue? How long will these prophets go on prophesying these lies which are just the product of their own deluded minds?
¿Hasta cuándo estará esto en el corazón de los profetas que profetizan mentiras, los profetas del engaño de su propio corazón?
27 They think the dreams that they repeat to one another will lead my people to forget me, just like their forefathers forgot me by worshiping Baal.
Pretenden hacer que mi pueblo se olvide de mi nombre con sus sueños que cada uno cuenta a su prójimo, como sus padres se olvidaron de mi nombre por culpa de Baal.
28 A prophet who has a dream should say it's just a dream, but anyone I've spoken to should deliver my message faithfully. What is straw in comparison to grain? asks the Lord.
El profeta que tenga un sueño, que cuente un sueño; y el que tenga mi palabra, que diga mi palabra con fidelidad. ¿Qué es la paja para el trigo?”, dice el Señor.
29 Doesn't my word burn like fire? asks the Lord. Isn't it like a hammer smashing a rock?
“¿No es mi palabra como el fuego?”, dice el Señor, “y como un martillo que rompe la roca en pedazos”.
30 Pay attention to this, declares the Lord. I'm opposed to those prophets who steal words from one another and then say it's a message from me.
“Por tanto, he aquí que estoy contra los profetas — dice el Señor — que roban cada uno mis palabras a su prójimo.
31 Pay attention to this declares the Lord. I'm opposed to those prophets who make up their own stories and then announce, “This is what the Lord says.”
He aquí que yo estoy contra los profetas — dice el Señor — que usan su lengua y dicen: “Él dice”.
32 Pay attention to this declares the Lord, I'm opposed to those who prophesy fictional dreams. They tell them in order to lead my people into sin with their wild lies. I didn't send them or give them any instructions, and they don't do anybody any good, declares the Lord.
He aquí que yo estoy contra los que profetizan sueños mentirosos — dice el Señor —, que los cuentan y hacen errar a mi pueblo con sus mentiras y con su vana jactancia; pero yo no los envié ni los mandé. No aprovechan en absoluto a este pueblo”, dice Yahvé.
33 So when a prophet or priest or anyone else comes and asks you, “What is ‘the burden of the Lord?’” tell them, I'm not giving you a burden. I'm giving up on you, declares the Lord.
“Cuando este pueblo, o el profeta, o un sacerdote, te pregunten diciendo: “¿Cuál es el mensaje de Yahvé? Entonces les dirás: ‘¿Qué mensaje? Te voy a expulsar”, dice el Señor.
34 If a prophet or priest or anyone else claims, “This is the burden of the Lord,” I will punish that person and their family.
En cuanto al profeta, al sacerdote y al pueblo que digan: “El mensaje de Yahvé”, castigaré a ese hombre y a su familia.
35 This is what everybody should say to their friends and relatives: “What answer has the Lord given?” or, “What has the Lord said?”
Cada uno dirá a su prójimo y cada uno a su hermano: “¿Qué ha respondido Yahvé?” y “¿Qué ha dicho Yahvé?”
36 Don't talk about “the burden of the Lord” anymore, because everybody has different ideas about this “burden,” perverting the words of the living God, the Lord Almighty, our God.
No mencionaréis más el mensaje de Yahvé, porque la palabra de cada uno se ha convertido en su mensaje; porque habéis pervertido las palabras del Dios vivo, de Yahvé de los Ejércitos, nuestro Dios.
37 This is what you are to say ask any prophet: “What message has the Lord given you?” and “What has the Lord told you?”
Diréis al profeta: “¿Qué te ha respondido Yahvé?” y “¿Qué ha dicho Yahvé?’
38 If they say, “This is the burden of the Lord,” then this is the Lord's response: Because you said, “This is the burden of the Lord,” and I warned you not to,
Aunque digáis: ‘El mensaje de Yahvé’, por eso Yahvé dice: ‘Porque decís esta palabra: “El mensaje de Yahvé”, y yo he enviado a deciros que no digáis: “El mensaje de Yahvé”,
39 now I'm going to pick you up like a burden and throw you away, you and the city that I gave to you and your forefathers.
por lo tanto, he aquí que os olvidaré por completo, y os echaré con la ciudad que os di a vosotros y a vuestros padres, lejos de mi presencia.
40 I will disgrace you forever, you shame will never be forgotten.
traeré sobre ti un oprobio eterno, y una vergüenza perpetua, que no será olvidada.’”
