< Jeremiah 18 >

1 This message came to Jeremiah from the Lord:
Pakaiyin Jeremiah heng’a hitin aseiye,
2 Go down right away to the potter's house. I will give you my message there.
“Beldengpa in-ah khun gachesuh in, chukom’a chu keiman najah’a thu kaseiding ahi,’’ ati.
3 I went down to the potter's house and saw him working at his potter's wheel.
Chuin, Pakaiyin asei bang chun, keima beldengpan kang apeija pontho tah’a bel asempet katoh in ahi.
4 But the pot that he was making from the clay went wrong. So he made it into something different as he thought best.
Aman abel denchu, adeibang tah’a asodoh louteng, bellei chun asugoiyin, thilchom in asemdoh jitai.
5 The Lord's message came to me, saying,
Pakaiyin kahenga hitin aseiye,
6 People of Israel, declares the Lord, can't I deal with you just like this potter does with his clay? I hold you in my hand just like clay in the potter's hand, people of Israel.
Vo Israel, beldengpan leingan chu adei deiya asemdohji banga, keiman nanghohi kabolmo nahiuvem? Bellei chu beldengpa thu thua asembang a, nangho jong kakhut’a um nahiuve.
7 At one time it could happen that I announce that a nation or a kingdom is going to be uprooted, torn down, and destroyed.
Keiman namkhat ham ahiloule lenggam khat ham chu, ajung bodoh’a suhmang ding kati teng,
8 However, if that nation I warned gives up its evil ways, then I will change my mind regarding the disaster I was about to bring.
Hiche nam mite chun, agitlounauva kon’a lung ahin heikituva, ahung kilehei kit ule; Keiman achunguva boldinga kagelhuhsa thilsea kon’a, kalung kakhel kitding ahi.
9 At another time I could announce that I'm going to build up and give power to a nation or a kingdom.
Alangkhat a, namkhat ham ahiloule lenggam khat ham chu, kasemphat a kaphudet ding ahi tia, kaphondohsa ahitai.
10 But if it does evil in my sight and refuses to listen to my voice, then I will change my mind regarding the good I had planned for it.
Ahivanga, hiche mite chun, kamitmua thilse leh thilphalou abol uva, kathusei angailou ule, kalung kakhelkit jing ding, phatthei kabohlou heldiu ahi, ati.
11 So tell the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem that this is what the Lord says: Watch out! I am preparing disaster for you, and working out a plan against you. All of you, give up your evil ways. Live right and act right!
Hitijeh chun, tun chenlang, Judahte leh Jerusalem mite gaseipeh in: “Pakaiyin aseiye, Nangho douna kathilgon, nachunguva talen kamatsah ding koncha ahitai. Hijeh chun nangho ami takip chu, nagitlounauva kon in hung kilehei kit uvin chuleh kisemphauvin,’’ati.
12 But they'll say, “We just can't! We'll do whatever we want. Each of us will stubbornly follow our own evil thinking.”
Ahinlah amahon adonbut uvin, “Hichu pannabei naphat mansah ahibouve. Keiho kalungtah nom ule lungtah ungting, thilse kadei ule kadei dei boltah tangu, ipi khoh am?’’ atiuve.
13 Consequently this is what the Lord says: Ask around the nations—has anybody ever heard anything like this? Virgin Israel has acted really badly.
Hijeh chun Pakaiyin hitin aseiye, Namtin vaipi lah’a jong gadong leuvin. Hitobang thuhi ahekha koi um am? Kachanu deitah Israel in thil kidah um tahtah aboltai.
14 Does the snow of Lebanon ever disappear from its rocky mountain-tops? Do its cool waters that flow from such distant sources ever dry up?
Lebanon molsang vum’a buhbang beikha a, chule gamla tah a hiche molsang ho’a kon’a hung longdoh twidapjen vadung ho kang kha am?
15 But my people have rejected me! They burn incense to useless idols which trip them up, making them leave the old roads in order to walk down unmade paths instead of the highway.
Ahinlah, kamiten kitahna aneipouve. Amahon keima einungsun’un, pannabei semthu doilim hounan gim namtwi ahaltauve. Achena diu lamlen chu kiselhuhnan aneiyun, lampi dihlouva alamlha gamtauve.
16 They have turned their country into a horrific wasteland, a place that will always be treated with contempt. People passing by will be shocked, shaking their heads in disbelief.
Hijeh’a chu, agamsung u akeova kijam ding ahi. Ajeh chu, amahon thil kidah umtah tampi aboltauve. Agamsungu jotpa tapou tija lihdiu, chule alu-u athinkhum diu ahi.
17 Like a strong wind from the east I will scatter them before the enemy. I will turn my back on them and not look at them when their time of trouble comes.
Nisolam khohuiyin leivui vanpil thena anei banga, keiman kamite chu, amelmateu masanga, kathecheh gamdiu ahi. Chule hesoh genthei, hamsetna ato niuleh, keiman kanung kangatding, kapanhu louhel diu ahi,’’ati.
18 Some people decided, “We need a plan to deal with Jeremiah. There'll still be priests to explain the law, there'll still be wise people to give advice, and there'll still be prophets to give prophecies. Let's organize a smear campaign against him so we don't have to listen to a word he says.”
Hichun amahon aseiyun, “Hung un, Jeremiah hi alonaje ding khat gongu hite. Eiho eihil uva eiphoh diu thempu ho, miching ho chule themgao ho tampi ineinauve. Eihon hichepa hi ingaichapouve, athusei ho ngapih pou hitin, ama douna thujoh haseiyin seiyu hite,’’ atiuve.
19 Lord, please pay attention to what's happening to me! Listen to what my accusers are saying!
Vo Pakai, neikhoh sah inlang nei panpin, Kamelma ten kachunga eidounau thu asei chengseu hi, neihet peh in, katao ahi.
20 Should good be paid back with evil? Yet they have dug a pit to trap me! Remember how I stood before you to plead on their behalf, to stop you being angry with them?
Thilpha chu thilsea kilethuh angai mong ham? Amahon kathina ding kokhuh alaiyun, kenla amaho dingin na-ang sunga taona kaneiyun; Achunguva nalunghan achuh lou nadin kappum in kataopeh in ahi. Nangin hingeldoh tei teiyin.
21 But now may their children starve; may they be killed by the sword. May their wives lose their children and their husbands; may their husbands die from disease; may their young men be killed in battle.
Hijeh chun, achateu kel thohsah inlang, Amaho abonchauvin chemjam in lousah in. Ajinuteu cha neilouvin abonchauvin meithai soh uhen, Tehse hou natna in thiu hen, chule golhang ho galmun’a chemjam in satgam uhen.
22 May cries of agony be heard from their houses when you suddenly bring invaders to attack them, because they dug a pit to capture me and hid traps to catch me as I walk along.
Hetman louvin, amaho chu gal miten lhunkhum uhen, A-injouseuva ka le mao ogin kijasoh kei hen. Ajeh chu amahon keima thina ding kokhuh alaiyun, chule kalam lhahna-a thang akam leleuve.
23 But Lord, you know about all their plots to try and kill me. Don't forgive their wickedness; don't wipe away their sin. Bring them down! Deal with them when you're angry!
Vo Pakai, kei thana dinga athilgon’u abonchan nangman nahei. Athilse bol’u chulnampih hih in, chule achonsetnau jong ngaidam hih beh in. Nalunghan nachun amaho hi bolgim inlang, na-ang sunga thisah jeng in, kati ahi.
