Isaiah 54
1 Sing for joy, childless woman, you who have had a baby! Shout aloud, and sing happily, Jerusalem, you who have never given birth! For the abandoned woman now has more children than the married woman, says the Lord.
« Chante, stérile, toi qui n'as pas enfanté! Éclatez en chants, et criez à haute voix, vous qui n'avez pas enfanté! Car les enfants de la désolée sont plus nombreux que les enfants de la femme mariée, dit Yahvé.
2 Make the tent where you live bigger; stretch the fabric to enlarge your home. Don't try and save space—extend your tent cords and make your tent pegs stronger.
« Élargis le lieu de ta tente, et qu'ils tendent les rideaux de vos habitations; n'épargnez pas; allongez vos cordes, et renforcez vos pieux.
3 You're going to be spreading out right and left; your descendants will take over the land of other nations and live in towns that were once abandoned.
Car tu t'étendras à droite et à gauche; et ta descendance possédera les nations et s'installent dans des villes désolées.
4 Do not be afraid, for you won't be humiliated; don't be upset, for you won't be disgraced. You will forget about the shame of your youth, and you won't remember the embarrassment of your widowhood any longer.
« N'ayez pas peur, car vous n'aurez pas à rougir. Ne vous laissez pas déconcerter, car vous ne serez pas déçu. Car tu oublieras la honte de ta jeunesse. Vous ne vous souviendrez plus de l'opprobre de votre veuvage.
5 For your Maker is your husband, the Lord Almighty is his name the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer, he is called the God of the whole earth.
Car ton créateur est ton époux; son nom est Yahvé des armées. Le Saint d'Israël est votre rédempteur. Il sera appelé le Dieu de toute la terre.
6 The Lord has called you to come back, like a wife who's been abandoned and deeply hurt, a wife who was married when she was young, only to be rejected, says your God.
Car Yahvé t'a appelée comme une femme délaissée et affligée en esprit, même une épouse de jeunesse, quand elle est rejetée, » dit votre Dieu.
7 I deserted you for just a little while, but I will bring you back, showing you a great deal of kindness.
« Pour un petit moment, je vous ai abandonnés, mais je vous rassemblerai avec une grande miséricorde.
8 In a moment of anger I turned my face away from you, but now with trustworthy love I will always be kind to you, says the Lord, your Redeemer.
Dans une colère débordante, je t'ai caché ma face pendant un instant, mais j'aurai pitié de toi avec une bonté éternelle, dit Yahvé ton Rédempteur.
9 To me this is just like Noah's time, when I promised on oath that a flood would never cover the earth again. In the same way I promise on oath that I won't be angry with you or tell you off.
« Car ceci est pour moi comme les eaux de Noé; car j'ai juré que les eaux de Noé ne passeraient plus sur la terre, J'ai donc juré que je ne me mettrai pas en colère contre vous et que je ne vous réprimanderai pas.
10 Though the mountains cease to exist and the hills disappear, yet my trustworthy love for you won't cease to exist and my agreement of peace won't disappear, says the Lord, who shows you kindness.
Car les montagnes peuvent s'éloigner, et que les collines soient enlevées, mais ma bonté ne se retirera pas de toi, et mon alliance de paix ne sera pas retirée, » dit Yahvé qui a pitié de vous.
11 My poor storm-damaged city that can't be comforted! Look, I'm going to reset your stones in cement made of antimony, I will use sapphires to lay your foundations.
« Vous êtes affligés, ballottés par les tempêtes, et vous n'êtes pas consolés, Voici, je vais sertir vos pierres de belles couleurs, et posez vos fondations avec des saphirs.
12 I will make your fortifications out of rubies; I will make your gates out of sparkling beryl. All your walls will be made of precious stones,
Je ferai de tes pinacles des rubis, vos portes de joyaux étincelants, et tous tes murs de pierres précieuses.
13 and all your children will be students of the Lord, and they will live in complete peace.
Tous vos enfants seront instruits par Yahvé, et la paix de vos enfants sera grande.
14 Your society will operate from principles of goodness and right; nobody will be there to oppress you. You won't be afraid; you won't have to face any kind of terror.
Tu seras établi dans la justice. Vous serez loin de l'oppression, car vous n'aurez pas peur, et loin de la terreur, car il ne s'approchera pas de toi.
15 If any invader comes to attack you, I didn't send them; you will defeat anyone who attacks you.
Voici, ils peuvent s'assembler, mais pas par moi. Celui qui se ligue contre toi tombera à cause de toi.
16 Look—I have created a blacksmith who blows the coals into a hot flame and forges a suitable weapon; and I have created the destroyer who brings destruction.
« Voici, j'ai créé le forgeron qui attise les charbons pour les enflammer, et forge une arme pour son travail; et j'ai créé le destructeur pour détruire.
17 None of the weapons forged against you will succeed, and you will condemn anyone who accuses you. This is how the servants of the Lord are blessed, and I am the one who vindicates them, declares the Lord.
Aucune arme formée contre toi ne prévaudra; et vous condamnerez en jugement toute langue qui s'élèvera contre vous. Tel est l'héritage des serviteurs de Yahvé, et leur justice vient de moi », dit Yahvé.
